Mary Earps

Let's see if she has that attitude when she goes into her next contract negotiation, haha!

Not going to hammer her to much don't know enough about her or her character.

Did the Spain manager win coach of the year? :p

I voted for Stuart Broad because I definitely think he deserved it more - not only for the year but his overall cricket days. But well done to Earps.

I would have voted Earps, superb couple of years and a great keeper and role model

It's all gone a bit quiet on Earps, I guess they couldn't agree a deal

Assume this will give her a better chance of winning some titles and playing in Europe.

Sounds like the Women's side is being put on the back burner a bit by the new ownership while they sort out the mens team.

I did see the women's team will be put back into temporary facilities at Carrington next season as part of the refurbishment works as their new facility that they've been in for the last 12 months will be used by the mens team while the works are carried out.

Yeah, this is poor show by the club.

SJR basucally said they're paying no attention to the womens team which is shocking. All she wanted was a decent pay deal and some new players to compete.

Good lucck to her, I like Earps, hope she does well

It's not ideal but I don't really have an issue with it, the club has to prioritise the men's side.

The women's team is funded by the men's team so that has to be sorted first as that's the core business operation. They can't neglect it for long but I can see why in the first 12-18 months it's going to be lower down on the priority list.

The refurb at Carrington needs to be done so everyone is going to be put out a bit while it's done but it's only a year.

For Earps I can see why she doesn't want to stick around while all this is going on at least she's going abroad rather than joining a rival.

Why, she was a nobody till she came to United,

It’s football you owe it to yourself to play at the highest level you can.

Until Utd show the ambition to compete at the top their best players will leave.

Also, these girls don’t earn fortunes so if there’s a good offer on the table as you enter your final years you take it.

Well they can sod off them, we give them the stage ......

No problem Battle going back to Spain, but the Englsh girls good riddance.

I’m not losing any sleep over it, we give them a job and they hopefully do it to the best of their ability.

For her the stage that made her a household name was England not Utd.

And how she get to that position, wouldn't be United gambling on the 4th choice England keeper would it, she owes Unites everything.

of course she doesn't. She signed a contract and honoured it. She owes them nothing.

If other clubs value her higher then go to them.

So you think if United had left her as a reserve-keeper in Germany she would be where she is now. acclaimed as one of the best and able to demand what she wants

Loyalty has to come into it somewhere. but when the oil states come a calling .....

another club would have gone in for her.

Oil state has nothing to do with it, you think Ineos are mother teresa?

If I work somewhere, and my contract runs out, and someone offers me more money and says we are recruiting better staff whereas my current company are not interseted in the staff. I'm leaving

she has one contract left ptobably, and nothing wrong with wanting to earn as much as you can from it

I don't really get your problem, men change teams all the time

No player owes any club anything. It’s a job at the end of the day, you get paid to do a job and ultimately will probably leave for a new challenge.

Players come and go and if she's not happy here and wants to try something new then it's best she moves on.

The loyalty argument doesn't really wash with me for players because if things hadn't worked out the club would have been looking to get rid of her. Loyalty is never a two way street.

They've let Zelem go too. Disgusting by the club

How?

Firstly you've said Earps doesn't need to show loyalty and nothing wrong with leaving.

Now it's the opposite way around and the club have moved on it's disgusting?

It with works both ways or not at all.

Earps is fine to leave. The club are fine to decide to move players on. Using you analogy you work somewhere contract comes to an end you're entitled to leave. Works for the company being entitled not to offer you an extention too.

it's because SJR has said that the womens team isn't a priority at the moment.

I guess the players don't feel wanted.

She hasn't been moved on, neither have been able to sort a new deal

It makes sense now on how the manager got a new deal

no need to get so angry.

I think it's disgusting they don't care about the womens team and all the players are leaving. It's just an opinion. We took huge steps forwards.

I'm not angry. I just think calling the club disgusting on the basis they've let a player go is a bit harsh.

I don't think it's wrong that the Women's team for the short term has to take a back seat while everything is fully focused on sorting out the Men's side of things as like it or not that is what funds the women's team.

The women's team might have to take a back seat next season and have a mid table season rather than push for European spots but once things are sorted with the men's side they can move on to setting up the women's side to try and get them setup to challenge for titles.

If they're after bigger contracts and Utd don't want to make those commitments at the moment then probably best to let them move on.

I don't think it's disgusting they've let a player go.

I guess disgusting is a harsh word.

It's disappointing that the new owners don't hold any value in the womens team. If they cannot concentrate on the mens team and the womens team, thats a bit of a worry.

The team made huge steps forwards after being reformed, and now it seems we will lose all of that and be back at square one.

Kate just hasn't kicked on, she has all the ability to control the tempo of most matches but rarely does. Like the lass though and wish her well

It shouldn’t be back to square one, hopefully more a small step backwards before trying to take a big leap forward.
