Marcus Rashford | Match Discussion Thread 2023/24

It is not the confidence issue but his lack of trying and not passing to team mates when they are in better positions. Is it the fault of ETH? Absolutely. If he is not following the instructions of the manager no matter how good you are then you should be dropped. The team matters more than the individual. I have seen AWB ambling up but Rashford would not pass to him unless he is completely blocked and by that time AWB is also blocked. The same with Dalot too. I was watching the Palace game against Newcastle and the one touch passing between Ayew and Mateta and was jealous of them. We do not seem to score goals like that. It is always a bit of individual brilliance by one of our players.

The tracking back stuff isn't my issue I think it could be better my issue is with the ball, this season he's been poor. His decision making when he gets the ball hasn't been good enough and when the ball goes out to him currently very little happens which is a problem for him and the team.
If the team is set up right then you can get away with one player who doesn’t track back and doesn’t work hard out of possession. The trouble is that player better be winning you games and causing chaos when they have the ball. Rashford doesn’t do that so he’s just a dead weight to the team.

I think it then comes back to when he isn't playing well from an attacking point of view he shouldn't be getting picked but we're so short of options we are almost forced to pick him.

We just haven't had that guy on the bench who's pushing the guys in the starting spot to be at their best to keep their place in the team.

There are a lot of games where Rashford is playing almost by default.
