I do think they actually have a need to do some deals anyway given how poor the season is going with a number of players clearly hitting the wall they need to inject some new life into that squad.

Second to that I think they are maybe protecting themselves a bit just in case they do get hit with a punishment.

I expect they're confident that they wont be getting kicked out of the league over this but best to get players in the door and spend while they still can.
 
Can VAR not tell the ref the foul was outside the box so no penalty?

That's BS, I'd be furious if I was a Madrid fan

Foden's right foot was inside the area when Ceballos connected with his right leg, so definitely a penalty. Madrid were great in the second half and it would have been a travesty had the game ended without a Madrid win.
 
To think City fans made idiots of themselves by buying that Rodri banner, only to see their team lose 3-2. Got to love it.

Can buy all the trophies they want but cannot buy better fans.
 
No atmosphere for most of the game you could have heard a pin drop that banner was their highlight of the night which backfired on them spectacularly, plenty of players missing through injury for Real too.
 
Yes VAR can upgrade a free kick to a penalty if the ref gives it as being outside the box they'll check it but they have to have a clear angle.

I didn't see the game or the incident but I'm guessing it was one where it looked like it was in the box but they couldn't say for sure as the camera angle does play tricks.

It really doesn't feel like City are ever going to break out of this funk they're in they just look so vulnerable all of a sudden.
 
That banner was so cringeworthy and utterly classless. Whilst I appreciate how good Rodri has been, for Vini Jr to continue his performance levels in the face of adversity with the barrage of abuse he receives from the stands in certain stadia, I thought he was the more fitting winner. Just my opinion.
