Manchester City Discussion 2024/25

There were times when Grealish has contributed at City, Antony has just been a complete waste of space.

He was an important player in the treble season but was injured quite a lot last season.

Nope and he's reported to be on £300k a week too.

Win the title 4 years in a row though and your record in the transfer market probably doesn't come under that much scrutiny.

I always thought he was an odd player. The best players don't get fouled that much, they learn to release the ball sooner and vary their games, he just seems a bit dim, and draws fouls every time he's on the ball. For me that's not teams fouling him persistently, that's him annoying them and trying to be too clever. Other than winning you a free-kick he's not all that.

£100m? Never.

Very talented played but was coached from a young age at Villa to win free kicks as they were a poor side that needed to break the game up then at City they didn't really want that but what he ended up doing was being a player who always turned back and never went for the kill.

He did look like he'd cracked it in his second season and was starting to look the part but it's dropped off since then.

They paid his release clause didn't they?

They did, yes.

He has not been worth it.

I didn't realise he was 29 either, thought more like 27. So yeah, they're not going to recoup much from him if they choose to sell.

I think this run or form really does highlight their squad deficiencies. Their defence isn’t great when not protected by Rodri and there really isn’t any adequate replacement for him in them squad.

Guys like Grealish and Doku are flash charlies who don’t really put up any decent numbers and Savinho could well be joining that list.

Haaland does very little if he isn’t scoring goals.

Foden is nowhere near consistent enough to be considered a top player. On his day he’s brilliant but he doesn’t do it nearly enough.

Saying all this they’ll probably win 20 in a row now and win the title! :p

I think a pretty huge factor is also Kevin De Bruyne. Losing his influence coupled with Rodri would be devastating for any team. De Bruyne just hasn't been the same since that serious injury.

Foden was fantastic last season - I just think he's been found out., teams are learning how to nullify him completely.

Can't see them winnig the league, but I do predict a turn in fortune soon, probably in the game after next.

Think Foden looks knackered had a long season followed by the Euro's looks like he needs a proper break to come back fresh but with the injuries they can't give him that break.

Walker is no longer able to carry out the impossible recovery challenges he'd make where he could give players 5 yards and still catch them, the top players are now able to beat him to the ball and he can't removed.

De Bruyne has lost his running power still great when give time but that extra bit of power he had that allowed him to burst past the opponent then deliver quality is gone.

They sold Alvarez and the plan was to replace him with Oscar Bobb but he got a bad injury and will miss most of the season.

They do look like a squad that needs a bit of a refresh.

Probably take them a year or two to crack league one first. Tough league to get out of

Their monopoly on football is just boring - hopefully they get removed from the board entirely.

Pep complaining again. If it was about the red card given to Lewis then he's got no argument, it was a badly timed challenge.

Held by Palace, rofl.

You broke the golden rule of the football gods.

Never fire your shot at the rivals until you’ve got your points in the bag
The football gods are dead to me. They died the day they allowed my club to be taken over by a bunch of parasites.

They probably did that because you were getting a bit to cocky after the treble.

The gods will not always be on your side.

Oh, really? In one of those moods today are we? ;p

I am sorry footballing gods, please remove the chains!

I have no hope that will work...

At this point I’m convinced Fergie did some sort of deal with the devil for his era of dominance and now we must all pay the price.

I don't like the price. It's too much, just like my energy bill. I've had enough of cost. Make it go away!

Amazing how the club changed forever because of one man felt he owned some horse jizz

Pep has said the City job will be his last job in club football.

He hasn't ruled out international management but once he's done at City that's it in the club game.

Another defeat in Europe they're now on the brink of elimination and a top 8 finish is very unlikely.

It all stops for a month now but that's now 1 win in 10 games for City which is crazy.

Pep just doesn't seem to be able to stop the bleeding.
