Manchester United close in on Serie D wonderkid - GazzettaWorld
Italian defender Luca Ercolani is on the verge of the becoming Premier League giants Manchester United’s latest recruit.
Since last summer, the 16-year-old has been courted by the Old Trafford club with David Williams, the man who brought Giuseppe Rossi and Federico Macheda to Manchester, asked to begin negotiations with the player.
Sport In Romagna have reported that the Azzurri Under-16 international, who underwent trials with the Red Devils’ academy last July, could be set to sign for the club in the coming hours, with the player confirming the move on his Instagram account.
Ercolani is expected to link up with United’s academy side with the aim of becoming a first team regular in the coming years.
It is believed that United have offered Ercolani’s club, Serie D side Forli, a fee of €50,000 to purchase the youngster.
The report also alleges that Forli have asked for an additional €100,000 fee when the player signs a deal and bonuses should he become a success at the Old Trafford.
Ercolani is known to be a keen supporter of the Red Devils, posting a series of pictures and messages about the club on his various social media accounts.
