Liverpool Discussion 2024/25

I dunno there must be something fishy as Juventus are desperate to shift him, that's a very low price.

I think it's the fact he's never been quite the same since his ACL injury.

Liverpool are probably hoping he can get back to 100% at some point. Big injuries can take a long time to come back from fully. IMO he's got a chance.

What did Fergie say about always checking under the sauce?

I reckon there's an element on that with Chiesa. I did see something about Juve reckon he's lost his burst of speed which means out wide he's not the same player and they don't think he's got the intelligence to play more central as a 10.

I can get why you might take the punt at that price he's coming up to 27 not sure what his wage demands would be but as long as they're not stupidly high it's a sensible gamble if it doesn't work out you can probably ship him back to Italy in 12 months for not far off what you paid for him.

One of my favourite players to watch over the last 5/6 years, obviously hope he stinks the place out at Anfield

No doubt he fits their style of play puts an absolute shift in up front but guess the medical team will want to have a good poke and prod to see how bad those injuries really are.

As much as it makes me sick.

Got to say Slot has come in after one of the best managers in prem league history, and probably improved Liverpool a bit. 0 goals conceded

No Moyes moment for Liverpool

They've not even spent any money.

There were rumours united got the wrong Dutch coach and Slot would have been better, they said, the job he did at Feyenord was better than ETH at Ajax. I wouldnt know, never wartched either

One thing that's interesting is the way the players are talking you wonder if they'd got a bit sick of Klopp there's no impression at all from that squad that they miss him. The fans might miss him but you don't get the impression that any of the players miss him.

That certainly wasn't the case when Fergie left it was an absolute dagger that most of our players never recovered from.

As for them I don't think they look any better or worse than last season and yesterday was really them using the things Klopp drilled into them on how to beat Utd it was nothing new.

Slot so far has done a great job got them off to a perfect start but the test will be how he handles the set backs when they come.

I think the time to judge it will be after 38 games not 3.

No lets not jump to massive conclusions after 3 games.

So far they've looked good but they were also a good side last season they don't look any better in my opinion than last season.

The point I was trying to make, they haven't suffered, like many teams in the past, replacing a succesful, very good manager.

it was a tough gig, I was hoping for failure. But it's not happened.

The problems I forsee, is that club doesn't like spending money

I don’t think it’s a fair comparison to compare Slot and ETH to be honest.

ETH came into an absolute mess and Slot came into a settled side and he has genuine world class players like Van Dijk and Salah. I’m not surprised Liverpool have started the season well but let’s see how they do when they play some of the bigger teams. They had a pretty friendly start with their first two games and then of course there was yesterday’s game which they weren’t fantastic at times but punished our mistakes.

I agree but lets see if this carries on before assuming everything is rosy.

I don't think it would take a lot for it to start snowballing but so far they haven't had a blow landed on them by the opponent or had injuries start to build up. That will come through the season lets see how he handles that.

In a way he's got an easy start because he isn't expected to win the league in his first season, Liverpool fixed a lot of their problems last summer those players are now bedded in and he's got everyone fit at the start of the season which is exactly what a new manager would want.

Last few days been reported that both Salah and Van Dijk want to sign new deals at the club.

Both have contracts that expire this summer.

Will be a big test of Liverpool's owners they've been pretty regimented on the wage bill and keeping it under control I wonder if Liverpool will be looking to offer the almost a rolling 1 year deal on current terms as both are now in their early 30's so they aren't going to get anything long term.

Allison out for a month.

He's a big miss for them in my opinion he's the best keeper in the league, makes a massive difference for them when he's fit.

I get the complaint but unless the managers and players want to take pay cuts nothing is going to change the TV companies pay their wages now so if they've bought the rights to 12.30 kick offs they're going to show them.

The solution here is just end the 3pm blackout on Saturday's the whole thing is a farce anyway as you can find ways to watch the games if you want so scrap it and there won't be a need for early kick offs anymore.

Yeah Salah, Van Dijk and TAA all out of contract at the end of the season.

VVD in talks over a new deal. Rumours are Salah will sign too.

TAA 50/50 wants to go to Madrid

If they don’t win it from here it would be a big collapse.

I reckon he's trying to take them to the cleaners on wages and Liverpool aren't going to budge.

Seems crazy to not just give him the big money as no one can replace what he gives that team.

I reckon they might be trying to tie down TAA to a new long term deal first before they talk to Salah even if they gave him the big money on a 2 year deal it's got to be worth it.
