One of our very best signings of recent seasons. I have no doubt he’ll have a just as good second season.

Love his passion and commitment. Plus he’s a terrific footballer. Along with Onana, we have two very good tools now to play out from the back.

Been a bit full on in pre season. We haven't brought in a new CB so he needs to be careful.

Fan favourite though, fans love players like him

Be interesting to see how he goes this season, not sure if he will kick-on again and become an even bigger fans favourite, or get found out, leaning towards the latter ....

That's Lisandro 5'9" Martinez, don't you know. I love the intensity he's brought to pre-season and hope he keeps it up. My only concern would be injury or a daft suspension.

Picked up an injury in the game last night according to some quotes after the game from Varane.

Looked a little bit off it last night.

He will always be super committed and that’s one of his best traits. Sometimes he will get it wrong but I don’t think we should be changing that side of his play.

the two games in pre season could easily have beed reds, It's not good enough

Hopefully bit of ring rust and if the forwards stopped giving the ball away he might not have to attempt so many last ditch tackles to stop counter attacks.

Seems to have started this season with a complete lack of composure.
Yep he’s not got started yet and his wild swipe at the ball for the second goal epitomised that. He’s one of many that has not got going and looks like they are still on the beach.

Which would indicate the preseason preparation was not quite right. They all look sluggish, unfit and weak. We are pushed off the ball so easily, we are so soft.

Is Martinez an option for midfield? He used to do it from time to time for Ajax. He would add that physicality in there and can also pick a pass. My worry would be can he receive the ball on the half turn but could potentially be a short term option if we cannot bring in another midfielder.

They're not going to drop 70m mount. But what an awful purchase that is looking

That's twice in 4 games he's had to come off injured.

He has flown to South America to join up with the national team but there is a suggestion he may not feature for them.

Sounds like he's still suffering with some pain from the broken foot he suffered last season.

You know what Argies are like in their second season, pay up or else ....

BBC reporting he could be out for 2-3 months.

The foot injury he suffered in April doesn't appear to have healed properly.

That's on EtH rushing him back because of his desperate need of a leftie at LCB.

Funnily enough he looked somewhere near his best last time he played.

Shame for the lad but we'll manage.

I don't think it's on the manager if the player says he's ready to play and the doctors clear him then the manager has to use him. Martinez looks like the sort of player who'll play when he isn't 100% but it's been obvious early on that something isn't right and this one needs more time to heel.

I think we've got problem if Varane goes down for a long period too.

Not sure we are missing him as much as say AWB or Shaw but it’s still a blow to lose him for a few months. Hope this period can get him better because he sure wasn’t the same player at the start of this season.

I think we miss him a lot with our build up from the back he is the one defender who really gets it and knows how to do it.

The others don't have the confidence to really draw the opponent in the way Martinez does.

ETH confirms he’s not expected to return until after Christmas.

Yep looked decent enough and he's so much better on the ball than all the other centre backs.

You could see straight away how much easier it is for him to pass through Spurs press to find a team mate.

Didn't see anything of note to be honest - back from injury getting some minutes. That was about it.

He pinged some quality passes to Garnacho. Vital he stays fit for the rest of the season.

He was class. His quality on the ball has been sorely missed. Hopefully the ice on the foot was precautionary.

Yeah that wasn’t something you want to see hopefully not related to his recent injury.

Makes a huge difference at the back.
