Yes I know he isn't that level of Osimhen/Gyokeres, maybe we feel they aren't obtainable until the summer. I am convinced we will still be in for one of them.

The fact he’s struggling at PSG doesn’t convince me he’d be able to step up in the prem.

Isn't Ornstein as reliable as a chocolate kettle?
He’s one of the more reliable ones I would say. The whole TheAthletic team are usually pretty decent.

Muani is a good player but not a prolific striker by any stretch. So not sure he really is an improvement on what we have, he would basically be another body to beef up the striking options.

Wouldn’t be a terrible loan move if that’s all we can afford. Then go all out for someone like Gyokeres in the summer.

PSG is known to be a tough place to go for some - many a promising player has arrived there and failed to deliver. I wouldn’t say Ugarte was a failure there but it shows that just because PSG want to let someone go doesn’t mean they aren’t worth a shot.

He's much the same as we have, we need to be looking at Toney, Gyokeres, Osimhen type player.

If we're looking for lower/cheap I'd rather go for David, who has great movement

It doesn't matter how good he is, if we don't get the ball to him he can't score.

Our strikers are terrible at holding the ball up and laying it off
We get someone who can do that, naturally more chances will occur
Our midfield can't get a break with this awful hold up play.
We need someone able to hold it up, lay it off, and get into position
David is good at this

I dunno to me he just looks like a player who’s struggled to make a step up.

I want a bit of experience in that front line to help those younger players around the squad. Appreciate those players are very hard to find.

If It’s one where they’re willing to take Rashford on loan and we take this guy then maybe it’s worth a shot just to freshen it up.

Could just be that he made a bad move but he also acted like a bit of an idiot to force his move to PSG. Not sure you want to bring that into a squad where you are trying to change the “me me me” culture.

I dont personally want to bring a forward in. Hojlund needs the games and I think he's got all the materials to be a great forward.

But if I was looking to bring someone in it would be someone like Sorlath. Teach Hojlund how to bring players in to the game.

I have no faith in Hojlund, he can't hold the ball up, struggles to lay it off, makes bad runs.
Yesterday he made a straight run with a defender either side of him.
A decent striker would have broken his run, moved In front of the defenders, and Bruno would have found him. Bruno was rightly furious.
He's not a natural.
If we want to move up the league, he needs an upgrade.

It's pretty clear Hojlund doesn't have good technique or the natural footballing brain to see what needs to happen next and that's why he won't make it with us. My confidence in him has gone too.

I don't see the harm in a loan for Muani, as we'll get to see what he can do before we buy.

Think that's a bit harsh on Hojlund. Last year his runs in behind were absolutely brilliant and Rashford and Garnacho struggled to find him.

He's adjusting to a new formation with the ball being in different places from how he's ever played before.

But he makes very intelligent runs and is a plus point of his game.

Yeah trying to think of the last player we signed that did well here after struggling at his previous club

he really doesn't.

It's all to straight, he never tries to lose his marker. He's done it once this season, and he scored, from my terrible memory.

But in general the runs he make are bad, too early, or too late and just too straight. He's hardly ever in the right place. This is what makes me think he'll never be top drawer. He's not a natural. The ball never gets to him because he can't lose the defenders.
And his hold play is terrible, never gives our midfield a chance, which is why sometimes our midfield is caught out. They are trying to move forward, he loses possesion, the ball is moved quickly and suddenly we are running towards our own goal chasing the ball.

He's just not good enough at the moment. So he needs upgrading this window. He might get there, because he can shoot well when on goal, but I am not seeing it at the moment. There is too much missing from his game.

I said it before and I'll say it again - I don't think he's trusted with the ball, the players know passing it to him ends in nothing in regard to build up play.

I agree with @IDFD that Hojlund does actually make good runs. He had that chance against Liverpool, he also had a good run against Newcastle where he also fluffed the chance. It was a good run against Plzen away to get the winner. That’s just an example of a few.

I don’t have much confidence right now that he’ll finish those one on ones because he is inconsistent. However sometimes it just clicks with a striker, I’ve already said the raw ingredients are there but it’s up to him to really sharpen up his skill set.

It’s total guess work whether he will end up making it here but I think having a senior striker in our ranks to ease his work load will help him.

Thats 1 run per game you pick out.

Next game, watch just him, he's not great. and the players recognise it too.

especially running from say 20 yards out looking for a cross, winger in front of him. Really poor

He has the enviable ability ability to be in completely the wrong place at the wrong time.
He's also a yard late more often than not.

I just picked out a few runs that led to goals/chances.

I think he’s getting a bit of a disservice in general when looking at his runs/movement. For example he pulled VVD out from the middle and allowed Amad the space to score the equaliser at the weekend.

Granted his hold up play does need some work and no his runs and movement isn’t perfect, however it’s not as bad as being made out.

He also peeled in front of VVD on our first goal and was there to get a chance if Martinez didn’t decide to shoot.

Rasmus Hojlund has averaged 1 shot on target per 90 minutes this season in the Premier League, the LOWEST of any other striker in the division.

Make of that what you will, but it's pretty obvious what this is pointing out.

I like the idea of a loan with an option to buy, I hope we push on this one. It may be the best option we have in this winter window.
