Welcome to Stretford End Arising!

We'd like you to share your thoughts, ask questions, and have a chat on the latest Manchester United news, rumours and opinion.

I don't think anything can be ruled out until we know where he fits in the new plans but they'd need to be coming with a massive offer.

They've paid £100m+ for Caicedo and Enzo so that's the sort of numbers it would take to get him.

He under contract to 2028 so there's no real pressure to sell unless he says he wants to leave or we think it's time to cash in on him to help rebuild the squad.

no way they get rid of him, SJR has done a really professional of pissing off the fans. That would be a step too far.

There’s talk of a new deal being discussed.

He signed his last deal before he established himself as a first team player so he probably wants a new contract that reflects that.

Mainoo leaving would surprise me, not so much Garnacho.

I like this in a way. Let’s see who fight or sulk for the place. No one is indispensable.

Same, Garnacho I can see being moved on, Mainoo, no way.

Not that I would approve of garnacho moving

Selling homegrown talents is probably not what clubs want to do but with the PSR rules selling players for pure profit is appealing on a business level.

Sure Newcastle didn’t really want to sell Anderson but had to as they needed to balance the books.

Mainoo is the untouchable one for me, Garnacho is the more likely to go if push comes to shove.

We need to find £100m from somewhere because of PSR

Yeah totally agree

If we sell either of them. SJR has ripped out the last bit of identity this club had. Managers sacked 3 months after renewing their contract. Ambassadors of the club moved on. Charity missions withdrawn. Mass redundancies. Stewards bonuses removed. And now move on the stars of the academy.

The Chelsea season ticket holder really sold you lot a dummy.

What exactly is the plan here? To sell Mainoo, one of our best potential talents, in order to pay the wages of Rashford, Zirkzee, Anthony etc ?

Or the new owner is reacting to 20 years of mismanagement and financial distress caused by the Glazers?

The news/leak is also a response to player power.

the arrival of SJR has ben a complete disaster. Been awful for the club.

Making tiny cuts to charities etc, all the while extending ETH and hiring Ashworth then sacking them at great expense. You need a separate coach for all the execs he's hired

Makes no sense.

They need to shut these rumours down, because getting rid of very good academy players is not what we do. Nearly all the squad could be replaced and we are talking about our best young talent.

Shame on SJR, I thought he would be a disaster, all his other sporting ventures have been.

I could understand that if he hadn't wasted tens of millions elsewhere himself in the last 3 months. His hiring and firing or Ashworth and extension and firing of ETH outweighs all of the minor savings that he's made.

They’ve been far from perfect, however to rectify the issues caused by the Glazers and Woodward and implement new procedures and processes will take time.

I think people are reading way to much into this.

Utd are looking to sell these players but if other clubs were to make massive offers for them then they'd have to be considered. That's all that is being reported.

I think people need to wake up as to just how bad a financial situation the club is in right now SJR has taken on the job of trying to sort that out so that the football club doesn't collapse under the weight of it's debt.

The Glazers have absolutely run it into the ground and bled it dry so we've reached a point where we might have to sell players we wouldn't normally want to sell.

He's on the job by throwing 20 odd million at ETH, his staff and Ashworth. All the while saving a couple of million on charity donations.

WTF does Brailsford offer?

we have about 30 analyists and performance coaches.

He's killing everything the club stands for, a nice family feel and a good academy where they get chances.

We are turning into Chelsea.

Yeah he'll have to take that on the chin as a bad decision the Ashworth/ETH decisions are certainly costly ones that the club have made but no club is getting every decision they make 100% bang on. Bad decisions in football cost a lot of money to put right it's why it's a business that most people stay well clear from. It's a quick way to lose a lot of money.

I don't know what Brailsford offers but I also don't know if he's being paid by the club or what level of influence he actually has over anything at Utd now that we've appointed all these new people. I suspect it's very little.

He's killing it? The club was killed 20 years ago when the Glazers took over. The reason they've sold a chunk of it off is the whole thing was close to collapsing because they'd run out of cash. Ratcliffe has stepped in to try and rescue it from death.

The Glazers have never put a penny of their own money into the club, if anyone has been penny pinching, it's been the Glazers for the past 20 yrs, by not funding ground improvements, or anything to do with the fans, whilst taking dividends and loans virtually every year.
When INEOS took over part of the deal was that there was a freeze on dividend payments, what SJR and INEOS are doing is shutting down the gravy train.
There are a lot of comments about the £40k for a charity, it was basically a charity that allowed former players to have a piss up 4 times a year at the clubs expense.
Other things like the lunches, how many of you work for a company that gives you a free lunch, I've never worked for a company that bought me lunch.
No-one is taking into account that time have changed, rules have changed, the club now has to conform to PSR and FFP, top flight football is becoming like F1, cost caps, every penny has to be accounted for, it's all killing F1, and it will kill football.

Also, the gap we used to have over everyone else in terms of our revenues is gone teams have closed that gap up now.

Next season will be even worse as there's a good chance there will be no European Football for only the second time in the last 20 years.

People need to get real about where the club is now not where it was 20 years ago it's been destroyed by the owners and it's going to take a lot of time to repair it.

Becasue they extended a doomed manager and spent 200m on players for him

Backing ETH for so long has cost us big, yes. So much time and money wasted.

Possibly true but really the damage was done in the two previous summers. The players signed this summer so far has good with the exception of Zirkzee.

Martinez, Casemiro, Antony, Mount, Onana and Hojlund were all big money signings and there’s major doubt over all of them

Ruben will be backed there will be money available but we can’t keep turning over the squad every time a manager goes.

The players who come in have to be Man Utd players not Amorim players.

Maybe shopping on a tight budget for once might actually mean we look beyond over hyped, over priced quick fix solutions.

As suspected contract talks sound like the reason why all these sort of rumours are coming out.

He clearly wants a new deal that reflects his status as a first team player but Utd are probably playing a bit of hard ball on it. There was something suggesting he wanted £200k a week which would be silly money to be putting him on at this age.

If they can't come to a sensible conclusion they'll be forced to sell him.
