Ticks off the boxes to start the rumour.

Under 25
Dutch / Played in the Dutch league

Yeah rumours good get it out there.

Would be a strange one to go and get the man behind Weghorst in the national team depth chart.

NY Times have a decent article on him.

Seems a very odd one to me. Maybe he offers something different but sounds like £40m to sit on the bench like Mount last year.

I think this where we need an older experienced player, sit on the bench, help out Hojlund in training, come on with 20 mins left.

Not Giroud, but someone like him

Isn't the issue that the agent wants a huge commission because of the low fee, he was trying to get 15m euro's off AC Milan and they told him to stick it.

Normally the agent fee's are around 10-15% of the transfer fee this guy wants 30%.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen him play so cannot comment in any way how good he is. Has done well at Bologna from reports though and read some positive articles about his progression.

Potentially not elite level but we have to be savvy in the market. Not sure we’ll be thinking about spending £100m on someone like Toney.

we've done the gamble on youth in Hojlund. I think we need something different

Yeah I'd prefer to go older and experienced as the competition for Hojlund.

Another rough diamond I think is a mistake but really we need our plan B striker to be similar to in style to the plan A striker.

We saw last season when Hojlund got injured and Martial came in we had to totally change the way we play as he wanted to play back to goal and do no pressing where Hojlund wants the exact opposite.

I've only seen a highlights video of him but even Anthony looked good on those , I would rather take a Benzema although that's not going to happen than another young striker.

Makes more sense to agree the fee as soon as possible, for both clubs. This looks very close.

Been reading a bit about him and looking at opinions of people that have seen him play and the consensus seems to be this will be a very good signing.

He moved to a big club at a young age but that didn’t work out, however he has built his reputation back up at Bologna.

For a relative low release clause by today’s standards, it could turn out to be a steal.

he might have potential, but I don't want two forwards with potential.

I want one that can score now.

its an unusual signing for me, especially if we are struggling for money

If we are struggling for money and only have a set amount we can spend a striker then it’s an understandable move.

You’ll struggle to get a guaranteed goals striker for £35m.

It also looks like you’ll be getting a playmaker/striker hybrid in him.

Utd may have to pay over the release fee as they apparently don't want to or can't pay it all in 1 go.

Don't really know anything about him but I'm a bit worried that he can't get in ahead of Memphis and Weghorst for the national team.

That said a traffic cone would be more use as a backup than Martial was last season and the stuff you read about him is pretty positive.

Doesn't seem to be like for like compared to Hojlund so will give us something slightly different in attack.

The fact he wasn't even initially in the Netherlands squad is worrying.

Seemed to be some decent clubs sniffing around him so that's a positive I guess.

I guess it wasn’t a major surprise he wasn’t in the Netherlands squad initially, they have a few guys upfront who have been very reliable for them so Koeman probably didn’t want to change.

Weghorst, Gakpo, Depay and Malen have been pretty constant names for them.

Zirkzee not getting in the squad/team is not a major red flag for me. Frimpong is struggling for any minutes in their team and he was fantastic for Leverkusen last season.

Apart from Anderlecht, his goal record isn't great which would be my stand out problem.

We have invested heavily in Hojlund, we don't don't need two, we should have brought in an old wise head to help out Hojlund. I would even have gone for Wilson who Newcastle want rid of cheaply.

Got to say though, we should be looking at Toney imo even if it is top dollar

I don't think it's necessarily the centre forward who needs to score the goals it's all about the number the team scores. I actually don't think it's good for a team to have a centre forward who bags a huge number of your goals as you become so reliant. A lot of the reports I've seen suggest this lad is very good at bringing his team mates into the game he isn't just a penalty box poacher which is what Hojlund feels like currently.

Think we have to accept the budget has got to stretch and cover quite a bit this summer, if they've done their homework on this kid and think he's got the room to improve and become a top player then go for it.

Toney in terms of transfer fee and wages will probably cost treble what this lad does over 5 years with no re-sale value.

I like Wilson but the injuries are a massive problem and the reason why Newcastle want to move him on.
