He is, and will remain, a championship level player, just like Hoijland. We seem to measure all our forward signings on the Weghorst scale.

We do not pass and move and that is the problem with these players. Put them under a better coach and more disciplined team and they play better. Look at Weghorst. He seems to score in almost every game for The Netherlands yet he could not buy one for United.

There was plenty of passing and moving yesterday and also our discipline is definitely more evident.

Strange to see the coach still getting heat.

Weghorst has 1 in 3 for Holland and International teams play a lot of dross countries. Let’s not embellish points to try and justify unwarranted criticism of ETH.
 
What it is people aren't seeing.

It doesn't matter how good his link up play is, and I don't think it's as good as many think, he's here for goals, and he looks completely incapable of scoring.
I don't rate Hojlund.
What this team needed was goals, the club didn't address that for some strange reason.

So this will be our season
 
I think he was bought to be a target man to play off but even in that role you need to be chipping in with 10-15.
 
Not sure what role he’s supposed to be playing he’s a mystery to me.
I assume he’s a number 10 type player which means what is Bruno now?
Thought he was ok yesterday and we went backwards when he went off.
 
Worth highlighting it was his pass that put Garnacho 1vs1 first half and was his pass that created a similar chance for Bruno second half.
 
Players don’t half get written off after a few games on here!

Also sounds like he’s been 100% being measured on goals, where as with some better finishing he would have been integral to us getting a few in that first half. His link play is very good and for me the signs are good but maybe I give players more of a chance before writing them off.

I'm not really writing him off, although I guess it could be seen as that,

My point is, it was an awful signing (not an awful player), not what we needed, we needed a goal scorer. And thats what he was bought for.

He doesn't look like a natural goal scorer.

2 seasons now we have struggled to score, we should have bought a striker.

Was also him getting his feet tied up that stopped a very good counter attacking chance when Garnacho had nicked the ball away from Palace on the halfway line and him and Amad would have been clear 2 on 1.

That was the one later on that Garnacho hit off the bar.

He also had one earlier in the game which he hit across the keeper and Henderson saved.

Didn't see that bit only really seen highlights of the first half.

Not saying the guy is perfect but in a game with lots of chances he helped create a couple and I'm sure there were other moments where chances were fluffed.

The finishing was the issue in that game not the creation of chances and Zirkzee wasn't really responsible for any of the big misses. He had the one that he slid in on which I think the defender blocked and a header which went off target
 
Man Utd vs Twente

Seems to be half a yard behind every ball that goes across the box.

Needs to start making his move earlier to be there for the tap ins.

I guess that goes back to him not being a natural number 9 and not quite having those instincts in the box. Sure he will be learning all the time though from Ruud on the training pitch though.
 
It's 7 games of football at a new country, in a new team and a new system. We are all aware they're comes a settling in period whilst you adjust. Let's at least give the lad til christmas!

I haven't been particularly impressed with him but he seems to bring out a bit more in Rashford at least.

He was supposed to be decent in the air havent really seen that utilised yet.
 
Funny because the reports I read before he signed was that for a big lad he wasn’t particularly good in the air.

I think Utd could do with getting a bit of bulk off him and see if they can unlock a bit more speed which will help in this league.
 
I've said since his first game that he is a Championship player at best. He does not have a finishers mindset about him. Despite whatever everyone says about his 'build up play', that is not what he was signed for.

Another complete waste of money - Antony, Weghorst, Hoijland and Zirkzee - the manager certainly has an eye for a shit forward.
 
I liked Weggy at least he tried but the ability fell well short, Antony is just shit there’s no other way of putting it.
Hojlund I still think can be made into a good player but he needs coaching.
I didn’t know much about Zirkzee before he came to be honest but so far he’s only been ok, I wouldn’t let Ten Hag have any say on who the club gets in future I don’t trust him anymore.
And Ugarte wasn’t great either last night.
 
Ten Hag is the ultimate advert for allowing others to buy their players for them and just being told 'you're a coach, make them a team' - and I am not sure about the coaching bit to be honest.

Like most of the successful European clubs do.

Championship player at best? A real wild opinion!

Nothing like writing off a player after 7 games.

You realise Ten Haag didn't choose Zhirkzee? In fact the rumours were that as part of his new contract he lost his veto to sign players so very little of the summer business probably involved him.

But we have a whole transfer department ETH isn't signing these players. It's INEOS and those they have brought in that made this summers signings.

Surprised at those criticising the signings this summer but being crazy for INEOS not knowing that.
 
Yep easy chance at 0-1 got no power in it and got it nowhere near the corner.
 
Wanted to give him time to see what he’s about having never seen him before, not going well I don’t know what he brings to the team.
 
You all still need to allow him some more time in my view. I get the frustration as the team has been in a bad way for so long, but it's not his fault.

Give him some time so we can get a proper feel for how good or bad he is.

It's going to be tough though as the way we are now I'm finding it very difficult to judge anyone.
 
We are 10 games in now think he’s featured in every game and it’s 1 goal.

There are certainly some good parts to his game but there’s a lot that looks very average.

I think one he needs to get himself a lot fitter and leaner. Premier league football is played at a relentless pace and at the moment I think he looks a bit off it.

The coaches should be working on that with him.
