Interesting to see how this lad does. Comes with a big reputation after his showings for Bologna last season. Have barely seen him but with Hojlund injured for a few weeks, he may get his chance to impress early on.

I hope he gets an early goal.

We had a lot of stuff early last season with Hojlund not scoring in the league for months hopefully this guy can grab one in the first few games to get that pressure off him.

PL: Manchester United 1-0 Fulham - 16th August

Quality finish and great play in the build up.

Send it wide and get in the box exactly what you want your centre forward to do.

A few nice touches as well when it came to him he made sure we kept it.

He's going to be the main striker surely, seems much more intelligent than Hojlund.

I think it’ll be whoever is in form plays.

Zirkzee has got a free run at the starting spot with Hojlund out injured.

If he can bang in a few goals in the first few games then it’s up to Hojlund to perform in the chances he gets to take the spot back.

Tonight summed this lad up in a nutshell. Gets involved in the build up, puts himself about and grabs a goal.

Great debut and seems like a good lad in his interview.

Premier League: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Manchester United - 24th August 2024

He was unfortunate for the disallowed goal. I like the look of him though. He’s intelligent, has an awareness and can link play.

Thought he looked a little bit lost when he came on still working things out with his new team mates.

Unlucky with the goal bit of a freak and really Garnacho has enough of the goal to hit and avoid him.

Bright start though.

Can only judge on what we see

That half hasn't changed my mind. Seems a waste of money, not a striker

He looks a little off the pace so far which isn’t unheard of coming into this league. However does need to do more with the ball when he gets it.

Yeah, was hoping for a bit more to be honest. It's very understandable though. This is maybe why he wasn't starting, perhpas he's a bit off being fully ready.

Tough gig up against 2 very good centre backs but he hasn’t really given them anything to think about.

He was awful in the first half, the tempo of play was too quick for him. Bit better in the second where he could have scored two goals. He’s going to need time to adapt to the tempo of Premier League football.

He was poor but got into some good positions and forced a couple of good saves from Allison. Will take time to adjust but hopefully it’ll come for him.

He looked poor all round to me, took up poor positions, bad touch, bad distribution and doesn't look a natural to centre forward

Why buy another no.10? That’s how he was described when we brought him, if he can be moulded into a striker then great but he looks a bit lost atm

So why buy him.

Exactly what I've been saying

Who is going to get us goals

Hopefully he won’t dwell on those misses.

They came when the game was basically dead but still any attacking player will think they should bury those sort of chances.

First half he looked a bit lost but he got more involved second half.

Think their centre backs who are top class just had his number today.

Hard to be too critical of a player who doesn't know this league at all yet or the players he's up against. That'll be a good taste for him, and will make him realise he needs to be as sharp as possible from now on. I think he did alright for what it was, his first full game in a new team.

He clearly needs time to adapt to the team and to the league so it’s very early days with limited time on the training pitch and games. That said so far in the glimpses I’ve seen (and I’ll stress what I said above about needing time) I’ve not seen anything special? Hojlund looked like he had something there to work with from early on but I’m not sure what Zirkzee does well?

You must be blind then. His finish against Fulham was very clever, a move he started by lying deep. This shows football intelligence.

I see people say that, to me, he just stuck his leg out.

Doesn't look like a 15 goal a season man to me

You've watched him for a game and a half at best. Be fair, man.

Watch the goal again, from the side angle you can see he means it. He makes the perfect connection for it to go in the bottom corner. He definitely means it.

He's a big old boy so he's never going to be a runner in behind, he's got nice feet in tight spaces but he's going to need to become a bit more of a physical bully I think and use that size to his advantage up against the centre backs.

Think the header was a bit moment he got a good connection on it just needed more direction to get it away from the keeper. Even if we'd lost 3-1 but he bagged a goal people might be a bit more positive about it.

The second one he's on the stretch which is never easy Gakpo missed a similar one late on for them but still it's a good chance that you can't afford to waste.

Interested to see if we might get Hojlund and Zirkzee together as a front 2 but hard to see us using the front 2 unless Bruno is part of it.

Oh the goal was really good for sure! Really good. But we also know from his goal record he’s not what you’d call prolific. I’m not saying he won’t come good and he won’t be a good player. I’m just saying I don’t see any special traits.

I'm hoping he's still carrying a bit of the holiday weight as he didn't have much of a pre season and we haven't quite seen him at full flow yet.

From what we've seen so far his hold up play looks to be better than Hojlund's but his finishing isn't as good.

I don't think we've found some sort of hidden gem but think we've found ourselves a good squad player who didn't cost an absolute bomb and is on sensible wages.

It's hard to compare him to another player from our past there's a little bit of the Berbatov about him
