We need to sell any player we can to start the rebuild of this squad.

I’m a fan but if the money was right sell.

Everyone I think needs a fresh start and he’d slot in perfectly into their back 3 system on the left side as he does for England.

We need to change this squad up, and lose a CB. When ETH arrived I said Maguire would be gone by sept 23 and I stick with that.

Losing Maguire would mean new captain too so a bit of a reset.

I'd be amazed if this is true though. Could free up money for another CM or forward

Personally if we are cutting one I’d cut Varane he’s on mega wages and can’t be trusted to stay fit but on paper he is the better player.

Maguire I think has just been beaten down by the pressure at Utd he can’t catch a break and there’s way to many people just waiting to jump on his back the moment he does anything wrong.

He would look a much better player in that Chelsea team but I’d be expecting 50m for him.

If he played better, people wouldn't jump on him

I have no preference to which CB is sold.

Maguire makes sense to be sold. He's probably one of the more valuable assets on the team and yet also one of those who doesn't fit the managers scheme the most. It really should be a no brainer.

Maybe it's his agent trying to drum up interest

There seems to be a clash with him and Ronaldo

Not true his price tag set an impossible standard for him to achieve and he was getting blamed for goals that had nothing to do with him at times. In his first 2 seasons he looked my a mile the best CB we’d have post Rio/Vidic he wasn’t in their class but he was very good but last season he was awful.

I just think if the opportunity is there to cut losses and make a fresh start take it as he will never win over the fans that don’t rate him.

His current one runs until 2025 so currently there’s no reason to begin contract talks.

When you've got a fan base that thrives on negativity it's hard to get anyone going. Is it a surprise these players play as a shell of themselves wondering what abuse they'll get online next?

Every single player we've got is better than they're showing. At some point you've got to start considering the reasons for that.

If I was United i'd have them all off of social media, a complete media blackout. Take the stress away from them and pay the fines it would cost them.

I think most of them know better than to go on there but let’s be honest even if you ignore it you still know it is there, turn on the radio it’s there, turn on the TV it is there and even I imagine like everyone these guys social media as a way of keeping in touch with friends and family there’s only so much you can block before an algorithm chucks a paddy power banter meme your way.

The only way to stop it is on the pitch but right now that squad isn’t built to succeed it’s got talented players but hasn’t yet been structured into a team, it’s a galactico team without Makalele. There’s a squad that was built for counter attacking football being asked to transition into one that presses and keeps the ball. Some will adapt but plenty won’t and it’s going to be a painful process working out the ones who won’t.

What I find tough is that fundamentally I think Maguire is a good guy who’s trying his best but last season things caved in on him but rather than rally round him and help him his manager, his team mates and the fans hung him out to dry. I think a top manager would have pulled him out of that side last season made up an injury and sent him away for a few weeks to get his head right.

The fan base is toxic right now years of frustration watching your two biggest rivals dominate domestically and challenge in Europe while we just look rudderless will do that. Ole I think repaired that bond in his first two years but he lost the grip on it as it’s really fragile.

I think a move would do him good and it could also be good for Utd. It would be a shame as I’d love to see him lift some silverware at Utd.

You can't blame fans for calling out players who aren't performing. They have been terrible for over a year. Not even running. It's not like Forlan who put effort in etc who got fans support. Or players having a dip. Its lack of effort for over a year.
That is not because of fans and we have every right to call them out on it.
They are the worst group of players I have seen. I have never been harsh on our players until this last year, in 50 years. Never have I felt like this about our team. First goal Brentford scored I knew we'd Lose.
Their attitude is disgusting and they should all be sold if offers come in.
Their attitude against Brentford in the first half is not worthy of the shirt.
I'd drop all 11 of them myself.

They better turn up against Liverpool

I think the problem is Maguire is a good player but he's got to be in the right system and scheme. And ultimately that doesn't lend itself to the top teams who play a high line and want to press.

Depends on what team you're talking about. Madrid have won most of the recent champions leagues and they play a deep line and sit in.

Italy won the Euros. He settles in to that team comfortably.

There's more the one way to skin a cat.

I don't see how anyone can say Maguire slips easy into any side given his form over the last year
I wished he could, then we might get some offers.
I don't think he will get dropped on Monday, but if he does, it's not a glowing reference is it, dropped from the bottom team

Ok sure... But he doesn't fit in at United with Ten Hag as manager. That's the reality.

Daley Blind and Matthijs de Ligt both played together successfully in a high-line, and i'd fancy Harry Maguire to beat either of those two comfortably in a footrace ....

United have blocked this move. I don't think we can lose Bailly and either of Linedelof, Maguire, and Varane in one window.

Got to assume these will be the main 4 with Martinez.

Tuanzebe and Jones I guess can still go.

Just had a thought on Maguire, if Fofana ends up at Chelsea for circa £85m, would Leicester City be up for offering around £60m of that money to United for Maguire. There's a lot of wins all around there.

Not sure it's a win for Maguire or Leicester to be honest not sure their fans would be thrilled for him to return. Chelsea you could argue is a sideways step for Maguire going to Leicester would be a huge backwards step one that I don't think he'd want to be taking at this stage of his career.

I get why Utd blocked it but they'd have been wise to take it seriously if Chelsea came with a serious offer just doesn't feel like he's going to be able to play the way we're now trying to play in this league.

After that interview last season, Maguire shouldn't even be at the club, never mind club captain. If the Chelsea interest was/is real, we'd be foolish not to take them up on it.

Don't know, you must get to the point when you think you know what I really can't be arsed with this shit anymore, the poor lad gets blamed for every goal United concede even when it's obvious(or should be)that he was not responsible in any way, and he'd be going to an established Premier League club he knows well so there'd be no settling in period.

Leicester City would obviously need a replacement for Fofana, and I don't think they'd turn the nose up at a player they know can do the job for them, who is an established International in his prime years.

What because of his lack of pace, that's a nonsense, see my post above, and if it's about players being able to play EtH's preferred system you'd move De Gea and Ronaldo on a long time before you started looking at Maguire.

He's not exactly been welcomed back by the Leicester fans he got dogs abuse off them last season when he returned for what I think was his first game in front of them because of the lockdowns. Not sure why they gave him stick he was a decent player for them and they made a massive profit on him money which from memory they used to buy Fofana.

I think he wants to prove the doubters wrong and be successful he's not won anything in his career Leicester to me at the moment feel like a club that are having to regroup a bit. On paper you'd say he's the perfect replacement for Evans who I think is on his last legs but Maguire I think would want to leave for a club that has realistic chances of success. Leicester got that cup win in 2021 I'm not sure they'll get another trophy for a while.

I think Leicester would rather invest that money into someone younger that they can develop and sell on that seems to be the Leicester model they don't sign to many experienced players certainly not for big money.

I think it's a mixture of things that leaves him exposed. The keeper doesn't sweep behind him, there's no midfield protection in front of him and our full backs are liabilities. Changing keeper would certainly help him and I think Casemiro sitting in front should help stop teams just charging through the middle against us but I think that 3-4-3 system that Chelsea play suits him perfectly.

I think the De Ligt comparison is a good one I think asked to defend high in the premier league he'd have problems to as you need that speed on the turn as the attacking players in this league are so fast.

I do wonder if him being dropped hints that maybe he’s asked to leave.
