Looks like he’ll be starting the season again as the starting centre back unless we bring in de Ligt beforehand.

Had a good season overall last year, so happy we have kept him for now.

Finished the season well, and when the opposition were putting in cross after cross, he was there to head them all out.

We are going to need Harry with our injury record that won’t go away, at least he stays mostly fit and is far better than Lindelof

Isn't part of the issue with Harry now that he's also getting a bit more injury prone?

His first 2 seasons he was rock solid barely missed a game but the injuries have started creeping up on him in recent years so you can't always count on him to be fit.

Yeah I think of him as being a bit injury prone.

I would think they are looking at trying sell either him or Lindelof and bring in another.

I wouldn't be against a new deal for Maguire but he'd have so accept a sensible wage and deal that reflect him being a squad player rather than a starter and the fact you can't rely on him to be fit every week.

Not sure he'd accept it get the impression he wants to play every week and if the right offer came in for him he'd probably want to take it and I don't think Utd would stand in his way. Not many clubs these days are willing to buy experienced players like him with all the PSR stuff they can't really justify the cost it makes more sense to gamble on youth unless they're free transfers.

I think he's a good head to have around the place he was captain through a really tough period but the sort of vice captain position he has now suits him a lot better.

Maguire did get more injuries than normal for him towards the end of last season but there was an injury crisis all season throughout the team, maybe something in ETHs methods eventually got to Harry?

To be fair it was no different under Ole and Rangnick.

1st season under Ole no injuries
2nd season under Ole 1 injury which he rushed back for the Euros
3rd season under Ole/Rangnick 3 injuries
4th season under ETH 1 injury
5th season under ETH 2 injuries.

His first 2 years at the club he was rock solid and probably played through the pain a few times but in the last 3 seasons he's had to take time off with the injuries for them to heal.

I don't think it's down to ETH's methods more likely a guy who barely had a break and maybe took some chances to get out on the pitch that are starting to catch up to him.

PL: Manchester United 1-0 Fulham - 16th August

Good performance.

Substitution was precaution rather than injury according to Ten Hag looked like he was starting to cramp up.

I think he will lose his place to De Ligt but if he’s sticking around the good version of Maguire is adecent defender.

Once the season settles in and everyone gets match fit, I think it’ll be de Ligt and Martinez as the first choice pair but Maguire is a top back up.

Premier League: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Manchester United - 24th August 2024

Poor for Brighton’s first goal. I wonder if De Ligt will make his first start for United against Liverpool.

Two faults on the goal.

First one I can understand and forgive the second was ridiculous.

In that position you cannot let the ball go between you and the keeper you have to cut that out.

He shouldn’t start the next game it’s time for De Ligt to come in.

Limited as a footballer but such a strong character. Spoke very well after the game yesterday. I wish there were more in the dressing room like him as we are so short of players with mental strength.

I'd start him at Villa with De Ligt and move Martinez to left back.

Thought he's unlucky not to be included in the England squad.

He was awful when he came on vs porto

Stepped up really badly and put someone through on goal, then made a mess near the by line and put through a horror back pass

Posted on his social media that his injury will keep him out of action for a few weeks.

So probably won't see him for the first few games after the international break.

Niggling injuries are a bit of a problem for him these days in his first couple of years with us he'd hardly ever miss a game.
