I agree, he's been really good last few games, but long term we need better

Probably best to replace players that aren't playing consistently well first, do you want a list? Harry is good for another 3 or 4 yeas, easily.
 
United will get more money for Maguire, especially in current form and narrative compared to Lindelof.
 
His contract runs to June 2025 but Utd have a 1 year option on the deal.

I don't see him being offered a new contract.

I expect Utd will be hoping a return to form and potentially a strong euros to hopefully attract a bigger market for him in the summer as we need to invest in some younger defenders.
 
He is only the one who can hold his head up. He was the only one to play with aggression.
 
Yep realised it was going to be a fight and took the fight to them one of the few players who did.
 
It was a captains performance from the former captain. Everyone around him apart from Shaw was rubbish but at least he stood tall and tried to fight for his team.
 
Got to give him his dues though, he has been pretty good the last couple of months now he’s back in the side.

There is a lot to be said of players who actually give a damn as well. He certainly goes in that category.

Probably not, but on Saturday he was the one who showed he cared and was up for the fight, when most of his teammates failed to display this basic and minimum requirement.
 
Top class again against Chelsea, very much back to his best.
 
He has been excellent, and I have been a harsh critic of him, in my opinion rightly so. But currently he deserves his spot, has been excellent in attitude and performance.
So as I have been so critical , I think I need to make a point of saying he's been brilliant recently.
 
My respect for him has gone up. He has got on with his job quietly (at least in public) and gives all when he comes on. A huge difference from some players like Sancho and Rashford. There may be days that he is the better option than Varane against some opposition.

A few months ago I was in the get rid party. Since he has got back in the team, like you my respect has risen big time. I personally never thought that I would be saying - if fit Maguire should be a regular starter

Me too. One thing that has changed now is that he does not seem to be under stress like when he was the Captain. He seemed more calm and composed now. He is not a slow player once he gets going. It is his acceleration that seems to be the issue before. He is not scared to put his body on the line and yes, him and Martinez could be a good option. I hope that I have not jinxed him by saying this too. We have to also consider that none of our RBs are really good in defending as a team.
 
I imagine not being captain has taken a lot of the burden off him and allowed him to take a more low profile position as he isn't expected to talk to the media anymore.

Still think he probably needs to be sold in the summer he's a solid squad player and if Varane is out the door in the summer I'd be giving him a run of games alongside Martinez to the end of the season to see how it goes but I think we know how it will go.

How quickly people forget him getting arrested on his summer holidays.

No we need to keep him at least for one more season as he is a very good player and if anyone CB gets injured he comes in. There are games where we need players like him in defence. And also during the latter part of some games. He has come back from his horrible form hopefully. The one thing I like about him is how he got down without a fuss and gone about doing his job. Yes, he got arrested in Greece but that was a long time ago.
