Always had doubts about where his money came from and how it would work with PSG.

If his pockets were as deep as many claimed and he wanted it he’d have gone all in to get it.

Will be interesting to see how the Ratcliffe deal works out.

Reports are he’s buying a 25% stake with the club valued at £5bn and it’s a mixture of Glazers shares and public traded shares. The Glazer’s retain control but their by voting power drops from 69% to 51% and I suspect Sir Jim will have first option on any future sales by the family. You wonder if he even has the reported option to buy a further chunk down the road at a higher price to take control.

Will all the Glazers be selling a portion of their equal share or will some of the family be selling up and leaving.

I suspect his investment will come with conditions he’s not just going to put all his money straight into their pockets I suspect both parties will agree to inject capital into the business to address the debt issue. Thus allowing the club to grow and the further potential value of the club to grow.

I don't think it is that simple when the Glazers are involved. Disastrous news in my opinion.

I didn‘t want Utd to be state owned so I’m glad these lot are out. There might have been times where I considered it but I don’t think I ever really wanted to see the club become the PR machine of a state backed owner. The way Chelsea, City and now Newcastle have been that isn’t what football should ever be about.

The reporting from the Athletic on INEOS suggests it’s a slow departure for the Glazers but it will be step 1 of the process to get the power taken out of their hands.

It wouldn't have been state owned. It was his personal money. Irritates me, people come out with that fake BS.

Anyway, i'd take literally anything above the Glazers remaining there.

Basically today is the death of the club. You can't have owners who couldn't give a toss about the club, it's history and it's fans in charge.

We'll never keep up with city now.

I'm amazed, because the clubs value will just drop and drop now. They'll never get a better chance to get big money.

Ratcliffe has gone way down in my eyes going in with those scumbags.

And there's me thinking with age comes wisdom ....

It's the best deal for all concerned, you should be happy.

No-one really knows where that Qatar money would have come from. It’s naive to think that the bid has absolutely nothing to do with the state. Obviously we don’t know anything for sure but I was never totally comfortable with knowing a Qatari would be in control of the club.

I don’t think Ratcliffe can be criticised too much. If all that the Glazers are offering now is a minority stake with a view to taking full control in the future then that’s what he has to do.

I think it’s a little hyperbolic to say it’s the death of our club!

How is the Glazers remaining in power the best deal. Are they suddenly going to change and want what's best for the fans and club?
What this process has shown, is they are even greedier than we thought.

I'm so disappointed Ratcliffe is giving them the chance to remain in power

Anyone that thinks the Glazers staying in charge is for the best of the club is delusional

He is a member of the Qatar royal family. Claiming he’s independently wealthy is like claiming prince William is independently wealthy. On paper of course they’ll be separate from PSG but anyone with half a brain would know that isn’t really true. If the Emir decided he no longer wanted anything to do with football both clubs would be dumped and left to rot, have a look at Malaga and what happened to them after Qatar got involved. They don’t care about the clubs they just want soft power tools that can promote Qatar as a tourist/business destination to diversify their economy from Oil/Gas.

I think we all share the Glazers out sentiment. Would you sell it to Putin or the Taliban or King Charles? It is extreme but you said literally anything.

Sir Jim is a life long fan who is incredibly wealthy if he’s coming in, he’s coming in with a plan to take over and get these owners out of control. It might take us a little longer to get over the damage the Glazers. He is in it to win it and if this is his only way to get control of it he’s been smart to get in this way. My guess is within 5 years he has 51% and the Glazers sit as silent partners on 10-20%.

If the deal unlocks the stadium plans that along with the new TV contracts, the new CL format plus this club World Cup and the inevitable super league it will keep growing. What Sir Jim needs to bring is some proper accountability and expertise to the football side of things.

The lifelong United fan isn’t true it’s media PR. He’s a season ticket holder at Chelsea.

He’s been a United fan since childhood, he just happens to live closer to Chelsea so goes to see them. He’s said in previous interviews that he struggles to go see United because of work commitments so having Chelsea around the corner is easy to go and watch some football.

He is a life long Utd fan who’s company owned some season tickets at Chelsea that he used to use when he lived in London to entertain clients.

Tell me, would you get a season ticket to Chelsea?
If you were a billionaire, that hour flight a bit too expensive.
If he was a united fan he wouldn't be going in with the Glazers.
He's a fraud

What if that’s the only route to ultimately get full control in the future?

If I was a billionaire businessman in London responsible for running a company and I needed to entertain clients I’d probably have tickets. The travel to and from games from London even with a private jet is a ball ache that I probably don’t have time to deal with.

It‘s Chelsea a team who until they started challenging us for titles in the 00s we’re not a rival.

This is his only way to win he can’t meet their ridiculous current asking price so he’s got to go about things a different way.

Because he's basically saying them running the club is ok, and he wants to be part of it.

We still keep the Glazers, the debt, outdated stadium and training facilities. I simply don't see how this deal is good for the club. I fear we will continue to stagnate whilst everyone else improves.

Think it's a real shame that the likes of Ballmer or Pagliuca weren't interested. Would have given us another full sale option if Qatar pulled out as has happened on Saturday night

I think we should wait to see the actual deal before we start calling him an honorary Glazer.

It has been quite clear for a while that they don't want to sell at the current price as they think it's worth more so Ratcliffe has had to approach the deal from a different angle. The plan seems to be get a foot in the door then build on that over time.

The reporting almost seems to be that INEOS almost takeover the running of the club day to day and if they can return success that will increase value which may give them options for further purchases that over the next 5 years takes the club out of Glazer hands.

As Qatar wasn't willing to increase it's bid to buy them out the situation was either things staying exactly as they are which is no good for anyone or we at least get a new voice within the club to try and change things for the better.

He's got 25%, no power whatsoever

Wants to take over the running of the football side, go and ask Nice how that's going.

I know the are second at the mo, but this has been a poor season so far in the lague in general. And the overall running of the club since he's been there is has been poor. Fans don't like him

Positive bunch aren’t we!

Isn’t it progress that at least someone else is coming in at a pretty decent stake? Then hopefully this progresses to a full takeover I want the Glazers out as much as any fan but if they don’t want to fully sell then this is the next best thing.

Under the Qataris we would have been another soulless plaything like City, Newcastle and PSG. This deal is the best one we have on the table right now, so it’s a positive for the club. Not ideal but a positive step.
