FA Cup Quarter Finals 2023/24: Man Utd vs Liverpool - Sun 17th Mar - 15:30 KO

Behave yourself, that was a beautiful kit, and some of the performances in that kit were magical.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I'm glad you were right about the game - ended up being as you dreamt it. Best game I've seen in a long time.

Go manifest us more. ;p

I'm a tight bastard, hadn't bought a shirt since the Sharp Electronics one years earlier, nearly weakened for that one, nearly!

Nowt to do with dreaming, it's all about belief

Trying to watch the Atletico Madrid v Barcelona match but too pissed ....

Pleased for Mount getting on but can't even remember if he touched the ball ....

I did not see the same match that some of the commentators and pundits saw. I never saw the outstanding saves by Onana and desperate defending or the open missed chances by Liverpool. What I saw was us missing a lot of chances. yes they hit the post. Yes they had more possession but what matters is who scores the most goals at the end of the match.

Two of Liverpool's goals were deflections as well. So in my view they might of just scored once, as on another day those deflections go wide etc. Our goals were clean.

They all sounded so disappointed that we won. It was as if we won by a fluke. You do not score 4 goals in a match by fluke. None of our goals were mistakes by their keeper.

I'm sure in another game a ref declined to send the player off for taking his shirt off when scoring the winning goal at the end of the game.

The ref today gave us nothing, typified by giving Mac Allister a free kick when he went studs up into Maguire's chest.
Mcallister should've walked for that .

Think the extra games caught up with them in extra time we had it last season when you progress on all fronts this is when it really starts to kick in and test your squad.

Utd still had something in the tank going into extra time and were able to make the game the way they wanted it which was end to end and break Liverpool's spells of possession.

To come back from behind twice against that side is a hell of an achievement and to dump them out with what should have been the last kick of the game was beautiful.

And the injuries keep coming ....

Did my hamstring celebrating the 4th, and I think I need a new telly ....

I'd give the club's medical team a wide berth.

Not buying that the medical team at United are poor without evidence as most other clubs are suffering exactly the same, it's as much to do with the powers that be for constantly adding more and more fixtures onto an already crowded schedule.

More matches on better pitches with no give in them means more injuries, simple as that. And it's not the medical staffs fault that players boots are like slippers these days.

I think it's something that needs to be looked at just to be certain but I do think there's some extenuating circumstances in their defence.

1) We played a ridiculous number of games last season using a fairly small group of players.
2) Shorter than normal summer break to recover due to world cup being mid season followed by international games post season.
3) In pre season we played a lot of games all over the states for commercial reasons then had a few trips in and out of Carrington to play other matches.
4) 3 of the players signed in the summer had injury doubts over them. Mount had missed a huge chunk of the previous season and both Hojlund/Amrabat came with injuries that meant they missed pre season. Think Martial also missed pre season because of injury.

The bit that does worry me is the number of players who've got close to a return then suffered a setback. We've had 3 of those this season (malacia, mount and martinez). 1 you could say is bad luck, 2 maybe a coincidence, 3 is a maybe a pattern.

Anyway post match all I've heard is about Liverpool's injuries they were missing 3 starters for this game (Alison, TAA and Konate) and so were we (Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro) and both sides had squad players missing. We also had 4 guys returning after injury 2 started 2 on the bench.

When Dalot put the ball out for a Liverpool corner with the time up I was dreading penalties, don't think I've ever watched a shoot-out confident that any United player was going to score, and we've had some mighty fine penalty takers ....

I thought it was going to be the Van Dijk sucker punch on that corner.

Was anyone at the match? Did anyone see any players apart from Garnacho and Antony rushing to celebrate with Rashford when he scored? I did not see it on the telly. It looked like everyone was so tired that they simply did not have the energy to run to him. McTominay simply lay down.

Not McTominay? I thought he should get it.

He had a very good game but I'd have gone for Garnacho. How he was still going as strong after 120 minutes in a match as emotionally draining as that. on that size pitch at his age was remarkable, moreso considering he has a hamstring problem that restricted him to only two days training in the week building up to the game. Staggering freaky stuff, He should've been the first player drug-tested!

I think with Garnacho, it is the confidence he has in his own ability. That boy needs to keep his head and he will be a fantastic player. Hope he keeps injury free.

I was shocked to see Rashford closing down their keeper in the second half of extra time.

I'd have given it to Garnacho he got through a hell of a shift in that game but really it was a day where everyone put in at least a 7/10 performance.

Congratulations all! What a game to watch and what a result for United. Bet it feels all the sweeter being against the hated rivals and putting an end to their fake quadruple march! And then to draw Coventry on top of that? Winner!

Not sure about that, on paper yes, but as we all know(or should by now) the games aren't played on paper, wouldn't be surprised if the semi-final is as tough if not tougher than the quarter-final.

Mark Robins v Manchester United, and their fans will be so so up for it ....

It's no given.

Oh no I’m not suggesting it will be a given. Coventry have a great chance to make the FA Cup final and they will give it their all to beat United. But it is better than drawing City in the semis.

Yeah I get that.

But personally I'd have preferred Chelsea in the SF, then Coventry in the Final.

Yeah makes sense. Chelsea are a bit of a mess but then they seem to have a knack in knock out tournaments this year having made the final of the league cup.

We usually struggle in 75/25 matches so give me a 50/50 match in the Semis every time, and hope your team is the better team on the day.
