Live on the BBC.

We actually did quite well there in the league in patches but was let down by our defending of their funky set pieces.

Feeling a lot more confident about us after yesterday’s performance but still would be a shock if we win this one.

Hopefully with another weeks training Amorim can push us on further. I suspect the team will be the same as yesterday and it would be good to get some consistency going in team selection. Leave all of the rotation to the EL.

Leave all of the rotation to the EL.
The EL is massively important. Our only hope of champions league football.

Now that the champions league clubs don't drop down in to it no reason if Amorim can get us playing like yesterday regularly we can't go and win it.

We know we've got a good cup team and these players can show up for these knockout games.

The next game in the EL is a must win game that should secure us a top 8 spot which is essential.

For this one I think it will be rotation for both sides.

Biyindir

De Ligt Maguire Yoro

Amad Ugarte Mainoo Malacia

Bruno Zirkzee Garnacho

Think it will be something like that the guys who played most of the games over Christmas will probably get a bit of a break.

Could turn out to be one of those games like last where there seems to be little hope, but we find a good performance.

I would have said a definite loss before the Liverpool game, but now I have hope we can beat them.

Arsenal have one more game than us this month so they will have to consider rotation too, especially as they will have one more game than us in the first half of February, provided we win against Rangers.
As things stand, our best route to the CL is the Europa League, Forest winning at the moment, which puts them 17 points above us, but our best route to EL might turn out to be the FA Cup.
I say go for it and introduce changes for the Southampton game

It’s 12 points to Newcastle in 5th so there’s almost no chance of making that gap up.

Arsenal have the north London derby on the Wednesday after the game so they’re definitely making some changes.

It wont bother me if we lose this one, and lose out in Europe, Amorim needs time with the players to train and coach them into his system, he can't do that with midweek games.
Climbing up the EPL to compete in Europe next season has to be the goal, the club needs the finances

Europa League and FA Cup are our best chances of being in Europe next season.

Depending on the cup winners and the extra champions league spots 8th could qualify for Europe this season through the league. We are currently 9 points off 8th I can't see us finishing that high given the mess we're in at the moment just getting top half would be an achievement.

I'd probably focus on the Europa League going out of the FA Cup early isn't the end of the world we've had 2 domestic cup wins in the last 2 seasons as you say the extra time on the training pitch with the players is probably worth more in the short term.

The main thing in Europa is making sure we finish in the top 8 so we miss that extra playoff round.

Amorim said Rashford is available again so it will be interesting to see if he starts. I think if he doesn't it may be confirmation that all the speculation is true. I don't think I'd start him even with Amad out if I was trying to move him out on loan right now.

I’d be shocked if he started at best he will be on the bench with Amad out.

Expect that means either Garnacho or Antony start.

How are we feeling? Are we confident United can replicate the performances against City and Liverpool?

I’m not confident we’ve got a horrible record against Arsenal.

We struggle to score against them

More nonsense about these players being only up for big games I see. You're reading too much Redcafe and listening to people who don't have a clue what they're talking about.

If you'd ever played football at a high level which you obvioulsy haven't you'd realise that it's just a natural occurence that comes from deep nerves or a sensation to want to prove yourself. It's not something you switch on like you're making out.

Man, some people have no idea.

There have always been players who raise themselves for big games but can’t for other games.

I don’t think we’ve got to many of these blaggers around.

Physically we should have a bit of an edge as they’ve played midweek.

I’m expecting a close full game but like the league game to be honest. The challenge will be can we handle those set pieces better and going the other way can we create some good chance.

I don’t think Arsenal will leave us the sort of gaps to exploit that Liverpool did. They keep things a lot tighter at the back than Liverpool do.

Yeah, the set-pieces are definitely the major concern. After what happened last time we played every corner they get will be a nail-biter. I'm not looking forward to that.

Going in though I'm quietly confident we can do something here.

Our overall form, and performance after playing City tends to prove your argument wrong.
But after reading it through several times, I can't make up my mind whether you are actually contradicting yourself or not

I wasn't trying to be dick either, just in case it looks that way! I have a tendency to write some questionable stuff ;p

Amorim said he was available, so it's looking like something is happening there.

Could the keeper be tactical? For the corners maybe?

Did you watch the Spurs game in the league cup?

Think it’s just a case of being fair to Biyindir he gets the cup games.

Corners hopefully won’t be as big an issue with no Saka or Rice the delivery shouldn’t be as good.

I don't think I was able to.

I just assumed Rice would start.

Well, I hope the keeper has a good game as a howler here will set the wolves on Amorim.

There can be no excuses for not being prepared for set pieces today if lessons have been learned.
