Surprising but fair enough if just the one championship was all he wanted in his career. Going out on a high and try other things maybe.

To be fair it was the right call. He knows that really he didn't deserve the championship. In all honesty he wasn't going to beat Hamilton next year plus he has probably looked at the rule and car changes and maybe isn't sure Mercedes are going to be the same monsters? And Rosberg honestly doesn't have the driving ability to overcome those issues.
