European Premier League: Talks take place over new £4.6bn tournament

Juventus, Barca and Real Madrid still refusing to back down they claim the game needs urgent reform or it will die.

The 6 English clubs hit with a £20m combined fine from the PL and a threat of a 30 point deduction should they ever attempt something like this again.

So the penalty is £3.33m per club.

I think they’ve got off lightly.

Fines from UEFA to the clubs dropped it's a forgive and forget tactic which seems mad given what the clubs tried to do and shows just how much power they have.

This thing isn't going away it will be back with a new badge on it within 2 years especially if FIFA keep pushing these reforms to the world cup ever 2 years.

The PL are also starting to discuss this idea of games played outside the UK again as they look at new ways to grow the revenues as the clubs believe they've maxed out the ticket, tv and sponsorship markets they need new streams to attack.

His problem is the premier league is killing everyone else when it comes to TV deals.

La Liga has destroyed itself by allowing Madrid and Barca to take more of the TV money and giving them special treatment rather than building up the whole league which is what happened in England during the 90's and 00's. As a result they've built a really uncompetitive league where only a handful of sides have enough money to be competitive.

Think the English fans made their feeling clear on it, They'll never accept it and neither will the Germans.

Without the PL clubs it doesn’t stand a chance.

The only way I see it surviving is if they can win this court case giving them the right to host a football tournament that is independent from UEFA they could relaunch it as a cup competition.

The clubs in it would then just pull out of the champions league and go on their own.

Looks like they've watered down a few of the issues people had with the original plan and they will have another crack at it if the courts back their view that UEFA is acting as a monopoly by stopping others from organising their own rival competitions.

Totally against it for obvious reason, but purely as a football fan would love to see how it played out, we'd know as fact which was the best team in Europe in any particular year, as opposed to the nonsense now where English clubs are at a clear disadvantage in the Champions League come April/May time because of the brutal intensity of the Premier League compared to the Spanish/Italian/German Leagues.

Would be madness for the English sides to back this the super league already exists it's called the premier league. The riches are already there, the worldwide fan base is already there, the best managers are all here, a lot of the top players are already here as well.
