I would suspect it may just be the two changes with Guehi back in for Konsa and Shaw in for Trippier - if Gareth keeps the same formation that is.

Netherlands have been okay so far, they clicked into gear nicely against Romania but then were underwhelming for a while against Turkey. In the end though they started to find their groove and scored a couple of goals to go through.

Of course only one winner in this! It’s coming home!

Did anyone else notice that Shaw went out wide left when going forwards then went central when defending, that had to be instructions from Southgate but it left the left back position exposed.

Yeah the team was unbalanced because we made the subs from a position of being behind and panicked. Shaw was playing left back and centre back.

Gareth will probably stick with Trippier because he's a fool.

But Shaw Toney and Palmer should be starting.

That's alright Germany's main rival when it comes to Football is the Dutch so he should be on our side.

Think the point is Bellingham was the man that criticised the ref. He may have a bone to pick.

Found this: "Zwayer was one of the officials who brought Hoyzer’s match-fixing plot to light, with the relatively short duration of Zwayer’s ban a recognition of that contribution. Hoyzer was banned for life."

I don't think he should be allowed to ref our game. I'm a bit worried now.

It does seem strange that a match fixer is allowed to be on the international stage.

They must be very certain that he’s now totally clean to put him in charge of the biggest games.

Let’s be honest neither team is going to bribe him and as for Bellingham I suspect the ref knows if he gives any dodgy calls against him that it could be personal.

Back to England will they stick to the back 3 or go back to the back 4?

To me Shaw has to start the game and will he bring Guehi back in?

I think the fact that this ref has been caught match fixing is astonishing, his whole character and judgement is flawed, I honestly didn't think this could be possible.

Have you read the whole story about what happened?

He was 23 and a more senior ref pretty much forced him to take a bribe. He was never caught he came forward and blew the whistle on what was going on.

It was nearly 20 years ago and this guy will have been watched more closely than anyone but is still regarded as one of the best around. If there were any doubts about him he’d have been gone a long time ago.

does sound like uefa may take him out of this game though.

"Zwayer was given a six-month ban in 2005 after he was investigated for taking a £250 bribe from official Robert Hoyzer.

Hoyzer was subsequently given a ban for life from football."

Not seen the story version you mention, this is on Sky

Can’t see there being many changes in this one. Southgate isn’t the most proactive manager so changes will be minimal regardless of the formation.

It's on his wikipedia page.

He was the assistant referee in a game involving Hoyzer and he took money from Hoyzer along with the other officials in the game with the instruction to favour 1 side. The 3 other people came forward against Hoyzer as whistleblowers.

We know how these knockout games go now.

England will go 1-0 down. Eventually Gareth will make a sub. It'll be 1-1 after 90.

This time I fancy Cole Palmer controversial penalty winner in ET. I'm gonna go 115th minute leaving us with 5 mins to hang on like mad.

I reckon England will get off to a good start then get nervous and become more conservative

That tends to be how they go for us.

The important thing is if we get that fast start then we have to cash in with goals.

I'm still hoping he sees sense and changes that front 3 for this game.

For me Guehi comes back in for Konsa, if Shaw is fit he starts and they have to put Gordon in for Foden.

Pickford

Walker Stones Geuhi Shaw

Rice Mainoo

Saka Bellingham Gordon

Kane

I doubt Gareth will change the formation now, so expect the 3-5-2 to remain in this game.

I reckon it’ll be just be the one change with Guehi in for Konsa.

I dunno he's used 4-2-3-1 in 4 games, the change for the last game was to match up the Swiss in a 3-4-3 it didn't seem to make much sense beyond that game.

Must admit not seen a huge amount of the Dutch but they look to be playing 4-3-3 from the bits I've seen so not sure we really want a back 3 in this one.

It'll be a 4-2-3-1 and as said just the one change with Guehi coming back in. Id be making a few changes.

If it was me

Pickford

Walker Stones Konsa Shaw

Rice Mainoo

Palmer Foden Saka (rotating ala City and Arsenal)

Watkins

I think that's still putting Saka out of position to squeeze Palmer in the team.

To me there's a couple of positions where he's just got to make straight choices play a system not just pick your best XI players which is where I think he's gone wrong so far this tournament.

On the right it's Saka or Palmer
In the centre it's Foden or Bellingham
On the left it's Gordon

Just hope it’s an open game some of the England games have been very boring, I think the Dutch are beatable if Waistcoat has the right plan, Palmer in I hope.

Genuinely farcical that he's looked at this and thought no changes are required

By the end of the night the majority of United fans will be thinking Ah, so that's why United are so keen to sign Zirkzee
