Euro 2024 Second Round: England vs Slovakia

0 shots on target against the 45th ranked team in the world.

Nothing more needs said.

Gareth waiting on the subs so we can have two in ET - genius!

Special finish by Bellingham!

  • Slovakia have scored first in three of their six matches against England but have gone on to lose each of those games 2-1: in both EURO 2004 qualifiers and a 2018 World Cup qualifier in September 2017.
Strange world.

Shocking performance against a poor side, Southgate will have been preparing his resignation speech in his head at 96 minutes, he’s clueless.

Cannot play the same side again. Foden and Saka as the wingers just doesn’t work. We need someone to stretch the play and we just don’t have that right now.

Hope that goal can give Bellingham a bit of a gee up going forward.

I thought Toney and Palmer did very well then they came on.

Fairly obvious thing to state, England are a poorly coached team. The team dropped deeper and deeper after the goal inviting pressure, there was no inclination to dominate possession and take the sting out of the game.

I know it won’t happen but Southgate needs to go if England want to have any chance of improving in this tournament. It’s stunning to me that he hasn’t changed the starting XI much and then doesn’t make changes in the game. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it. Why does he not make changes? Why does he persist with things that are so clearly not working?

Weirdly, you are the same fans who defend ETH for exactly the same football.

Big changes needed for the next game

They’ve got big problems.

The defence looks all over the place Guehi’s suspended which means Konsa coming in. Trippier is struggling at left back but Walker is also looking poor at RB.

In midfield Mainoo made a decent start but faded we don’t really have a guy to bring on.

The 3 he’s starting behind the striker isn’t working, Bellingham’s wonder goal covers up another terrible performance by him.

Very very lucky to be through they’ll have to be miles better to beat Switzerland.

Very rare to see Walker beaten for pace but it’s happened a few times this tournament maybe the signs are starting to show that his legs are finally going.

Thought his passing and on the ball stuff was really poor let alone his defending.

Quite a few players look absolutely broken physically, none of them look fresh and full of beans they all look knackered.

Foden was so sloppy on his disallowed goal, he should never run offside there it was so basic.
