Erik ten Hag | United trigger contract extension

One thing I love about arm chair fans saying ETH knows nothing and they know better and the problem isn't with the players. Wtf aren't you up there earning £8m a year instead of being office workers?

It's a joke when people think they know more than the manager that sees the players everyday in training.

I hope they sack him. Hit the reset button and yet again prove the morons wrong that hitting that emergency button doesn't help anyone. 2 years 2 trophies. Silly entitled idiots don't grasp it.

These are the same idiotic fans that hounded out the previous manager. Honestly wish the fan base would feck off and go support City. It's where they belong.
Honestly this post is a bit out of order if it is aimed in any way shape or form at posters on here. Just because people have an opinion doesn’t make them morons or idiots. You may disagree but that’s not a good basis for insults.

We all have an opinion and got to respect it.

I agree for the most part that ETH deserves time. But he cannot afford to send out a team who plays so poorly; it creates too much doubt. Arteta and Klopp's team were never this poor.

Is ETH an effective enough motivator? Can he send a team out there, week in week out, who are ready to fight to the death for him? Because that is what we need. We have seen he is tactically astute, that he is keen on technical and skillful passages of play. But where is the fight, the solidity, the consistent level of application?
You simply cannot be doing the same thing over and over again and hoping to get a different result. It is insanity. The way ETH played at Ajax is not going to work in the PL against top teams. At United he has 3 players who thinks they are strikers and one midfield player who seems to have the authority to run and do whatever he wants to do. Then you have a slow player like Mainoo who is very good with the ball but cannot even catch anyone because he is so slow. That leaves just one DM to handle everything. None of our forwards nor Bruno can keep the ball.
This is simple logic. Ugarte can win the ball but who is he going to give it to? Bruno would be probably on the left wing or the right wing or at CF.
ETH needs to change and change fast. Play Ugarte and Cas in midfield. Start with them and now Eriksen in midfield with Zirkzee and Ramus. That leaves one spot for Rashford and Garnacho. Let whoever plays be a roaming player.

I just cannot see how ETH turns this around, looks like he's lost the players on that performance.

The kicker was that before yesterday the performances were actually a lot better - the results were still a little sketchy granted. However yesterday was just a total implosion, no hunger or desire from minute one and if it wasn’t for Onana and some questionable finishing then it could have been 5 or 6 quite easily.

Last seasons excuse was injuries what’s the excuse now?
How long do the club give him? We couldn’t beat Twente at home, got the run around from Spurs again at home, well beaten by Liverpool again at home, any team fancies themselves against us now, it’s got to stop.

What is he saying to them as they go out? Got caught napping right from the start and Spurs scored, their CB went past 5 of our players….then again start of the second half caught napping it’s a joke.

I don't think there are any excuses really yes he's bedding in a lot of new players but it shouldn't be this bad while that's being done.

I agree generally the performances had been ok but we've had 2 stinkers in a week at home in games we should expect to win.

I think those fans like myself who were willing to give him a bit more time are now starting to turn enough is enough.

It's going to take a "Klopp" like figure to really get this club back to the top a personality so big that he's going to be able to draw a very fractured fan base back together and get behind one idea.

Apart from LB, that was his strongest team/squad. No excuse.

The performances had improved but they weren't great, it was a low bar. We scraped by against Fulham and Palace, lost to Brighton. It's been pretty bad. Our only decent result was against the joint bottom club.

They've got to be looking at this now. I wonder how easy it would be to get Nagelsmann.

Dalot was a disgrace caught out of position for a tap in and something he does a lot, it’s basics ffs
If you were the opposing coach the first thing you would do against us is attack the left back position because most of the time he won’t be there.

Just feels like the bubble has burst again like it did this season and it's hard to see how he gets the air back in it. There's no cup final or cup run to cling on to.

The players look drained physically and mentally.

Once it reaches that point it's hard to see how any manager gets himself out of that hole.

A massive problem now is the coaching staff and players are all ETH people if he leaves how many of them will need to follow him for the next guy.

You've to question all the people on the board, giving Bruno a deal on the back of our worst prem season, buying Zirkzee for 36m, giving ETH a deal on th back of our worst season and employing a whole new coaching staff.

They are looking as incompetant as the previous bunch to be honest

He isnt a left back but who would you suggest we play there? Suppose we could move Martinez across and get Maguire in the centre.

He turned down a return to Bayern why would he come to us?

We have to be realistic about the options out there.

He didn't really get a new deal they triggered a 1 year extension clause in his current contract early (rumour is part of that was it removed his veto on signings). Another reason for doing that was likely to help align it to the deals for the new coaches that came in to replace the ones who were leaving.

The Bruno deal to me was badly timed they should have dealt with that during this season.

It was always said he could play both sides if needed, as a professional footballer all he has to do keep to the basics which is defend, he can’t even do that.

Was it? He's always been a recognised right back who has covered at LB because of our injury woes with our other left backs.

When either is back Dalot won't play there.

He’s all we have at the moment because the fat lad can’t stay fit unless it’s for England, him being recognised more as a right back is no excuse for how he played yesterday

Think he knew Bayern he'd be walking back into the same problems that saw him leave in the first place.

I think there'd be a chance of landing him as it's still one of the top 3 club jobs in the world but it's a huge job that is only getting harder.

I think it will be someone who's out of work who comes in if they decide to make a change.

He definitely needs a bit of grace playing LB as a RB. But that was unacceptable yesterday

And that’s your excuse for him going miles out of position on a regular basis? Does his compass not work on the left?

I assume someone is supposed to drop in and cover him when he roams. It's a specifically designed choice for him to roam which is on the manager not the player but it's something we say many times last season from the right and was done well but someone would drop in and cover it.

I dont think thats realistic. At this moment is it realistically one of the top 3 jobs in the league let alone the world.

One of the biggest clubs in the world yes. Top club to manage? We aren't even in the elite tier right now in them terms.

They won’t drop in if they are already marking someone, he’s like a few United players devoid of awareness and responsibility

Don't think it matters what side he's playing I think he's being asked to play to far forward when the ball gets turned over there's a huge gap in behind him and opposition teams are being brave and leaving their winger in that space.

Until the attack learn to look after the ball better the full backs on both sides need to drop in and be a bit more defensive against the better sides. We are simply not ready to go blow for blow with a proper side yet they'll take the gamble because they know it can pay off big time for them.

Nagelsmann is 40/1 in the betting.

When you look at everyone in the betting under 20/1 it tells you the tier of managers we have to choose between.

Ruud
Gareth
Tuchel
McKenna
De Zerbi
Frank
Potter

I think it'll undoubtedly be Southgate we know he's Ratcliffes man. McKenna would be my choice

The club have come out and backed Ten Hag this morning though.

Ten Hag is evens to be sacked next. I actually though the bookies would be shorter than that was going to lay against it.

Would he get Southgate when he knows the fans would be unhappy?

Might put a pound on Nagelsmann at those odds.

Whats the odds on Zidane?

and no Emery in the list?

I missed Carrick. 18/1

Zidane 25/1
Poch 25/1
Amorim 25/1
Ole 33/1
Nagelsmann 40/1
