Erik ten Hag | United trigger contract extension

The staff needing cutting for sure.

But we do seem to have a lot of Sheriffs/Deputies recently appointed.

I think getting caught tapping up Ashworth/sending emails was amateur. Not bothering with the women’s team, the ETH position dragging on lts seems a bit amateur. As well as this new deal, which isn't a new deal.

I can be bothered to look extensively. So it’s the Sun. It says 3 years and they quote ETH as saying new deal, not triggering the one year extension

the work at Carrington and OT is a plus.

For me, they needed to back the manager properly. This just leaves room for more BS accross all the papers and social networks

As for the redundancies we have 1,150 staff…City have 520.
Im not sure if that was partly down to us being a much bigger club to manage or shear waste and incompetence.

Apparently City's head count is misleading as a lot of people who work for City are employed by the City Group who own them.

It's a way of keeping their costs down for FFP.

But those appointments are replacing people who have left. The setup now looks a lot more how you'd expect it to look rather than the muddled mess we saw under the Glazer's which always felt like a chain of yes men rather than people who we as fans can hold to account.

We don't know if they got caught tapping up Ashworth it was a rumour leaked by a journalist close to Newcastle that no one ever commented on publicly because of the risk of arbitration. However, they managed to avoid all that and get him in the door on the 1st July, yeah they coughed up some cash to make it happen but I think getting the top man in as quickly as possible is vital as he can now start making the changes.

The women's team situation is a big negative but I can see why it's been low priority for now but it's something I expect them to address in the next 12 months. I think they've been very sloppy here and Ratcliffe especially with some of things he's said hasn't helped.

The ETH situation did drag on a bit but it was sorted well before pre season started and the contract they've given him to me is a very sensible.

how dare you! they wouldn't do that

Why am I not surprised to hear that….?

It's a legit thing to do if you have this multi club system as you can say you share resources.

Probably saves them £5-10m a year in salary costs that they can use on the first team.

Utd technically aren't part of a multi club ownership model as INEOS do not own Man Utd so it's probably something we can't do ourselves.

Are you employed in some way in football you seem to have a broad information source?

No just read a lot of stuff around it especially the ownership side of things and how the rules are applied.

The £5-10m figure is a complete guess by the way.

Not sure it was posted on here but a new goalkeeping coach has come in.

So now he's the second best manager in the league according to himself. Delusional.

"I had to build this club," he said.

Did you?

"As far as I know, the fans are happy with me."

Are they? I don't think so. Most of the fan base are at the point where you're in the guilllotine with the basket and the cutter on standby.

What arrogance from someone who only finished 8th last season. Ridiculous man.

I wished he wouldn't come out with stuff like this

He needs media training because he's really poor in the media

It's just going to antagonise other teams too. Like we need that right now.

He honestly does need shut down in the media.

That right there is just asking Liverpool to show up at OT and destroy us.

It also makes me think he's happy with what he's done so far. Which is a worry.
Clearly there were many, at least 7, better teams than us last year

He needs some training, and quick

He really is an idiot when he’s in front of the camera, the constant head shaking is irritating too, when it comes to football the talking is done on the pitch and he needs to realise this.

Seriously guys!?

Go for a walk, put that shelf up you promised your missus you'd put up 3 years ago ....

He's got dickheads in the press saying if he gets beat today his job is on the line, is he not allowed to defend himself ffs

I'd be as quiet as a mouse if I finished 8th with last season's squad. Really. I might even try and make the media like me a bit...

I think the same too in regard to his achievements so far - he does seem to think he's doing great. There will be no lucky cup win this year.

It's madness! ;p

What's he said that's wrong? Literally jumping on anything he's said nothing wrong.

Doesn't make out he's happy said the summer signings will accelerate the process. But he's won 2 trophies in 2 seasons. He's a reason to be proud of his success which for some reason people forget.

He's done more for us than Artera has for Arsenal.

Trophy wise, but not the team. The milk cup is a nonsense, we shouldn't be celebrating that, it's a tiny step up from the charity shield as far as I'm concerned. The FA cup we were lucky on route. The final we were brilliant.

I don't think he's in a position to shout how great he is, he was also a game away from getting sacked.

I'm not jumping on his back, just wise up in the media. He's terrible at it.

Arteta has Arsenal playing good football and challenging City in the league. That is the level we need to be at. Just because his Arsenal haven't won much yet means nothing. The Arsenal team and ours is not comparable at all, they're miles ahead and the legue table proves it. That is the measuring stick at this club. We aim for the title and everything else is secondary. On that basis, he is failing badly, being the owner of our worst ever CL finish and Prem League finish. He doesn't seem to realise this at all.

He needs to start being a lot more humble and likeable.

Honest to God I don't know why some of yous lot bother supporting the club, every presser is like being cross-examined and occassionally Managers say things with hindsight they probably wouldn't have, but that's not even the case here

Let it go ffs

Massive game today and you're already getting your knickers in a twist, and no doubt if we don't win 3-0 today you'll be straight on the forum within minutes demanding the Manager is sacked, its insanity ....

Give your head a wobble really!

Seems like there is a certain portion of the fanbase that will be deliriously happy if ETH fails.

Some of the comments about him are ridiculous.

Come on, sure you well know he won’t be happy with just winning the two trophies. He would want to win every trophy he’s in but he’s also realistic of where we are as a club right now.

Nothing he said was wrong. Bringing trophies back to the club is a good thing, even if it is the League Cup.

All I said was, he needs media training, and he does.

You you cannot bang on like city are the only team ahead of you, on the back of the worst prem season.

That's all I'm saying, and I said it after the Sancho mess. Guy needs think before he speaks.

@Justin Cider I will not be doing that, but as I mentioned, because of the two previous results/performances he does need to win this or the pressure will mount.

I happen to think we will win if we can get goals. We'll create more.

He's his own worst enemy. He brings on all of this with his stupid comments.

The media are going to decimate him if he loses today. It will be a really bad start to the season. Be prepared.

Huh? There was nothing wrong with the performance against Fulham and/or Brighton, shoddy finishing in the first game and a few defensive lapses in the second doesn't change that, nor should getting beat

You might need to rewatch.
The performances were better, but if you think there was nothing wrong, I'm shocked.
We scored a flukey goal with a few mins remaining, at home, to Fulham! And lost to Brighton and had a flurry of defensive errors.

Fulham we should be destroying at OT

I'm not sure why expecting better is deemed as anti united by so many fans on here.

I haven't asked for a sacking, I've asked for better

He definitely needs to rewatch. Arsenal made Brighton look very ordinary yesterday all first half. We managed to make them look like one of the greatest teams to play football, beating us right at the death. How many times has an ETH team managed that now? Oh it's a lot.

Why was he bemoaning not being able to play a settled back line then weakens it himself by using Dalot on the left? Then makes CB changes right at the end of the match. He's an idiot sometimes.

You can’t call that Zirkzee goal a fluke. The execution was exactly what he intended it to be, the whole move was players showing their quality to work together to open up an opponent.

As for what he said I like to hear the Utd manager come out and defend himself he’s got to punch back against the critics but he needs to also get results on the pitch to go with it otherwise whatever he says becomes pointless.

His points are valid he’s had to rebuild the squad in 2 seasons he’s done that while giving young players their chance and delivered 2 cup wins but now it’s time to start delivering consistently which is what the league table will highlight.
