Turns out Bailly can actually defend. Thank God for that. He was plugging all the holes in defense, nearly a one-man army back there. Thank feck he kept it together.

He’s a bit of a maverick and very reckless sometimes but when he’s on it he’s actually a very good defender. He single handedly kept us in the game last night - that block from Zapata was unreal defending.

I’ve always said if he stays fit he should be one of the first choice centre backs - sadly staying fit has always been an issue. Then it’s not easy coming in for the odd game here and there when you’ve recovered from these injuries.

Would give him the City game after that performance.

Think last night was Bailly in a nutshell.

1) the amazing block to deny Zapata
2) the switching off that allowed Zapata in behind to score.

The only thing missing was him either hobbling off or being sent off because that's basically how he rolls.

Now I thought on the night Zapata was great would be a nightmare for any centre back to handle so it's very hard I'd say even impossible to keep him quiet for 20 minutes.

So friggin annoying, he's got all the tools to be the best centre-half out there, pace, power, strength and the skill to pull off Cruyff turns in his own box when he's got two/three players up his backside, it's just his more than fair share of brainfarts that's holding him back.

Played well today but let’s be honest we know what’s coming in the next game.

Sadly probably true but if he did play you just know against Arsenal he'll do something stupid or get injured because that is how it goes with Bailly.

The guy has had rotten luck with injuries since he came to Utd had he stayed fit and had a coach that worked with him he could have become a really top class defender like you say it's all there but he's 28 in a few months so it's fair to say he's not really going to develop into much more than he already is.

He's almost 28 in his 9th full season as a pro and he's actually only played in 162 competitive games.

Champions League: Man United 1-1 Young Boys

Been pretty good for a little while now and seems to be staying injury free - fingers crossed. Pretty much did the work of three defenders tonight with AWB and Matic being questionable a lot of the game.

Will always have that maverick side to him but if he has the ability to stay fit then he’s a real good defender to have in your squad.

Just don't feel like you can ever fully trust him as he's always going to do something mad every few games that costs you a goal.

Staying fit is a big thing for him though had rotten luck through his career.

Played with a protective cap on following a head injury apparently he was brilliant in the match but missed his penalty.

Him attempting a no look penalty is the most Eric Bailly thing ever... the man plays by his own rules!

Haha he sure is a maverick! Never change, Eric!

Just saw his penalty now, sheesh.
