He will definitely be second choice this season behind AWB but he’s a decent back up and does always show commitment to the cause.

Defended well against a top opponent.

Poor on the second and fourth goals.

Should never allow Musiala to turn back on the second goal and on the fourth he lost Lindelof and left a massive gap that Bayern exploited.

He did ok for the second, he was up against a lightning player, got back, the problem, and seems to be the story of the season, is there is always an opponent free in the box to bury it.

I think last night showed again that AWB is the superior player to Dalot. I think he would have done much better against Musiala.

He had him going down the line as a full back you have to keep him going that way you cannot let him back inside, think Musiala got a bit of a lucky break but he got absolutely roasted.

The free man is part two of the problem but if Dalot keeps him outside then they can't get that ball back to Gnabry.

The free man seemed to be a lack of communication between Martinez and Reguilon who both ended up marking the same man.

The first goal is embarrassing stuff, he allowed Zaha to bully him. He has to get to that ball before it bounces. The finish is lucky but he's allowed Zaha to back him up 10 yards from where the ball bounces to where he strikes it and you can't allow that.

I also think this idea that Dalot is good going forward needs binning to. His balls into the box are average at best and he offers zero goal threat.

Probably got a new deal because he's cheap but he's had 3 good months of form in 5 years at the club it isn't good enough.

Apart from the first goal which was still a fluke he's the only one who could look himself in the mirror this morning, the other three were p poor

I don't think I've seen a worse performance from Dalot, imagine that!

Yeah he can look in the mirror and say I only gave them 1 goal last night maybe I should ask the boss if he will still sign off my clean sheet bonus.

Really? 2 mistakes for the first goal, he let's it bounce instead of sensing the danger, and then when it does bounce and Zaha is ready to shoot he turns his back and cocks his leg up to try and block the shot. Simply atrocious.

It was p poor, but apart from that brainfart he had a good game.

He was the 4 best right back on the pitch tonight.

He’s one of those players that isn’t good enough but needs just when AWB has been out.

It's just frustrating with Dalot because some of the mistakes he makes are so bloody simple and basic if he hasn't got that out of his system at this point he never will.

I don't like singling players out but he was really poor last night and his mistake massively turned the game in their favour by gifting them the first goal.

This is a guy who despite being a very average footballer has been given a new 5 year deal off the back of 3 months of good form in the 5 seasons he's been here. It was classic Glazernomics giving him a new contract was a lot cheaper than buying a replacement. Both Newcastle's right backs walk into our starting XI.

Yeah I was thinking that last night with Livramento, he looks a real star in the making.

I do have faith in AWB and his ability going forward into the future but Dalot for me is someone that can go. He has his good moments and did have a good spell but if you don’t have consistency as a defender then you are always going to fall short of being a great one.

Personally I'd sell AWB he's not good enough for where we want to get to and he needs a new contract as his current deal expires in 2024 although we have a 1 year option. We can't kick this issue down the road any longer. Do we really want to commit to another 5 years with AWB?

Both right backs in my opinion need to be out the door and replaced in the next 2 summer windows.

I'd extend AWB by 1 year then try to sell him in the summer and if we are going to sell him he's not going to join a top club at best he's going to a mid table prem side which tells you all you need to know about how good he actually is.

I have to disagree there. I think AWB has made great strides under ETH and is worth persisting with.

I would keep AWB and bring in a new backup.

Flip the question if you were fan of another "big six" club and you could sign AWB for say £30m in the summer. Would you want your club to do it? If you drew up a list is he in the top 10 right backs in the premier league this season?

He's a bottom half of the premier league player Palace was his level and that is where he probably should have stayed. Great one vs one defender but with the ball he's ok, crossing isn't particularly good and he offers zero goal threat for top sides who rely on full backs to almost be play makers it's not enough.

He was solid enough second half of last season and back to the sort of form we saw for 2 years under Ole but even that isn't really up to the level of the modern full back.

The problem with giving him a new deal is like Dalot you keep rewarding mediocracy.

He did well when he came on last night

But that's not saying much

I don’t agree that he’s a bottom half player. I don’t think the elite clubs would take him on but clubs like Spurs, Chelsea etc I think would buy him if he became available.

I think he has improved a lot and he is one of the few players I would actually keep at the club. There are many many I would sell tomorrow but along with guys like Shaw, Martinez, Onana, Garnacho, Hojlund, I would keep him if I had the choice.

Is he better than James and Gusto at Chelsea? Is he better than Porro and Royale at Spurs? Is he better than Livramento and Trippier at Newcastle? Better than Cash at Villa? Better than Coufal at West Ham? The list goes on I don’t think any club trying to play attacking football would touch him. Wolves, Palace or Everton the more counter attacking sides would suit him.

I don’t think he’s improved at all he just had a crap 12/18 months and this time last year he looked like he’d be gone. He got back in and did ok in the second half of the season but he is still a limited player.

Just think the contract decision makes calling time on him easier bit like Fred it’s the right time to sell AWB use that money to go towards buying a replacement.

Just think the two we’ve got aren’t great there needs to be a plan to improve the quality in this position.

Defended well today.

His 2 best games of the season have been at left back

3 champions league games this season and I can think of 3 goals that are all a result of his poor defending.

You cannot gift teams goals at this level.

seen a lot of grief saying he should have passed to Hojlund at the weekend.

What's he meant to pass it trough a tiny gap.

Hojlund positioning was awful, should have been 3 yards further foward and on the far post beyond teh last defender. It's a worry

There was plenty of room for Dalot to pass it to Hojlund. His positioning was actually very good as the defender had left that cutback position.

Dalot is another example of a bang average player that we have in our squad. Has the odd good game, a good cross every now and again and a motivational chest bump but that’s it. The cold hard facts though that he isn’t good enough.

Hojlund gets way too much grace for doing very little other than run about in my opinion.

that ball was not an easy one because of the position Hojlund took up.

If we don't get a proper striker in Jan we are going to struggle all season

Dalot isn't good enough you're right. Nor is Hojlund.

Or our transfer team, should have bought Pavard. He covers RB and we wouldn't need to play Shaw at CB
