215-8 at tea. Stokes playing with the tail pretty well and a decent little cameos from Rehan and Hartley.

I guess 250 is the aim with hopefully Stokes and Wood staying together for a bit.

There was always a threat of Hartley being bashed because he was going to be targeted regardless of the match situation. He just needs to dust himself off and keep going.

He doesn’t have much first class experience so he was a strange pick for me in the first place. He does have the height which generates bounce but India are masters in their own conditions.

Think our goose is cooked in the first Test.

India have a big lead and a lot of our wickets were gifted to us to be fair. Root has been our best spinner which does make the decision to play three spinners plus Root was a little strange. I think having Anderson bowling cutters would be more effective than our spinners.

All said in hindsight of course but I don’t think we will be seeing three front line spinners again on this tour.

Absolutely brilliant century from Pope. His best innings for England by a country mile.

We have a slim chance of winning, if we get another 100 runs then you never know but it needs to be 100 more at a minimum.

One of the greatest days in recent Test history at Brisbane, so made up for a depleted West Indies team, Australia 113-2 chasing only 216 were bowled out for 207 with rookie Shamar Joseph in only his second Test who limped off the field at stumps yesterday blitzing Australia with 11.5-0-68-7

Leave our Test cricket alone ....

Any cricket fan who says Test cricket isn’t the pinnacle of the game needs to give their head a wobble! What a day of Test cricket so far!

Shamar Joseph bowling rockets and he could have a broken toe from the night before! What a talent!

As a proud Lancastrian if Hartley can bowl England to a surprise victory in India think my head will explode

You can stick T20 where the Sun don't shine!

Travis Head, currently the best middle-order batsmen in world cricket out for a 'King' pair, don't think I've ever seen that in Test cricket before.

My first three post in this thread today @Sideshow Bob, just saying.

Well done Son.

Surprisingly only 14th on the list for best performance in an innings on Test debut.

Feel old, remember listening on the radio to John Lever getting a 7-for on debut way back in 1976, also in India.

A sensational day of Test cricket!

Take a bow Hartley. Got some tonk in the first innings but bowled like a seasoned pro in the second. Absolutely fantastic scenes.

Would say it’s pretty even. It looks a pretty flat deck so to get six wickets with a pretty inexperienced attack was very good.

Anderson bowled brilliantly and was the pick.

Collapsing like a pack of cards now. 315/9 still trailing by 130. This game could well be cooked but you never know after that first test.

Apart from Duckett, a pretty limp batting effort. Root and Bairstow are in rotten form and you need those two experienced guys to stand up in a big series.

A heavy defeat looks on the cards. Not sure Bairstow should be in the team as a batsman, he’s too inconsistent. Brook is a huge miss.
