If I was to write a list of priorities. Replacing Smalling would be way down the list.

I think people just criticise him out of habit because they can’t criticise him for his level of performance.

I don’t get the constant criticism of Smalling. He is outshining Lindelof by a mile at the moment and fans are waxing lyrical about Lindelof. Smalling has the odd mistake but so do the best - if we started the next season with him in the centre of defence I wouldn’t be unhappy.
