Chelsea Discussion 2024/25

It’s been a good weekend for Chelsea, now only 2 points behind Liverpool. Are they genuine title challengers?

They have to be we are almost half way and they’re 1 win off going top.

Momentum is a powerful weapon in football and they’ve got it.

Maresca has built on the good finish to last season under Poch.

miss managed? seems to be doing well and getting picked in a side fighting for the title.

At least this means they have to buy him

He still needed a kick up the arse a few weeks ago when he was out of the team, injuries have given him a chance to get back in.

Sancho is just one of those people he'll never be consistent but he's got so much talent people will keep giving him chances.

He was well protected at Utd for a long time but his social media post was unacceptable and he was rightly moved on. The higher they finish the more they pay so lets hope they win it.

I was surprised when they hired Maresca, but to be fair, he is doing a great job managing that squad and getting good performances from the team. Would dearly love them to beat the Scousers to the title.

Real bit of quality by Sancho there.

That's what he's capable of, but I'm not sure he's doing it consistently enough. Looks a totally different player at Chelsea though.

Finished 1-1. Chelsea’s form has dropped off since they were mentioned in any sort of title race. They are still doing better than expected though.

They're not finishing their chances.

I watched a good amount of the game and they're just not firing right now. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd be quite happy this season though.

I predicted a draw.

I think they’re just falling back to where people expect them to be a top 4 challenger not a title challenger.

As for Sancho from what I see it’s no different to Utd Sancho you get flashes of brilliance but a lot of time where you don’t even notice he’s on the pitch.

Recalled Chalobah from his loan at Palace due to injuries.

Same player they made train away from the first team all summer and told him he was surplus to requirements at Chelsea.

Chalobah wanted to stay at Palace.

I've only watched Chelsea a couple of times, and not from KO, I think I was something like 15mins into the game before I realised he was playing, my spidey senses are telling to me he's going to be another Raheem Sterling, inspirational flashes, but mostly you wonder if he's stealing a living.

I wouldn't say he's stealing a living but he's a proper flair player. He can do things with the ball that most top players couldn't even dream of doing the balance and touch he has are unreal but the game doesn't have a lot of space for these sort of players now.

There is no consistency to him.

He'd probably look amazing at a team like Barcelona where they're so much better than most of the sides in La Liga.

Busy day of outgoings at Chelsea by the looks of things.
  • Defender Ben Chilwell widely tipped with a move to Crystal Palace
  • Defender Axel Disasi is attracting interest from both Aston Villa and Tottenham on loan
  • Joao Felix is also been widely linked with a move to AC Milan; although it appears be agent-driven and it is unclear whether Chelsea will accept it
  • Fellow forward Christopher Nkunku continues to be linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United but BBC Sport's latest contacts have played down the chance of his exit
  • One source has explained that midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has travelled to complete his loan move to Borussia Dortmund
  • Marseille are also in talks with defender Aaron Anselmino about a potential loan deal but it could be linked to Disasi's situation
  • Meanwhile, academy defender Somto Boniface is expected to join Ipswich on a permanent deal.
