He's been charged with 2 further counts of rape.

He now facing 6 charges of rape and 1 charge of sexual assualt case is due in court in January 2022.

Nice the Sun have plastered rapist all over their paper before the trial finds him guilty.

Although it doesn't look like the claims are false, way too many of them.

Not really a surprise from The Sun.

We just don't know the claims could all be from the same person just at different times from memory it is multiple women who've reported him but as it's a live case they can't really say a lot.

Now charged over 9 seperate incidents 7 rape charges involving 6 different victims.

The incidents happened between October 2020 & August 2021.

He has not yet entered a plea and his trial will begin on 25th July

A lot of unsavoury comparisons being made between Mendy and Greenwood online. I know there has been plenty of false accusations against athletes so you can't believe every allegation, but there also have been numerous instances of men with power and money able to beat the system, in all senses of that phrase. There were similar allegations made against an Arsenal player (google it) which were swept under the carpet last summer as well.

There's something about all these cases that just doesn't sit right, whatever the legal system might say.

About 1% of these cases end in a guilty verdicts because a jury must find guilt beyond all reasonable doubt. Essentially you have to be 100% certain he did it to find him guilty which basically means the prosecution needs CCTV that catches you in the act or very credible witnesses that saw you commit the crime.

From memory the Arsenal players case couldn’t go to court because in Spain where the incident took place the victim reported it to the police too late. In Spain there’s a time bar on these complaints if you don’t report it within a set period they cannot prosecute.

That's my point. Reality of it is that none of us know what actually went down between the pair, or more to the point, how it went down. It is possible that Mendy was completely innocent just as it is possible that he was completely guilty and got away with it.

The system is inherently stacked against the women which is why I'm always sceptical when the courts find in favour of the rich and famous male.

On the other hand, this view is going to swing public opinion in favour of Mendy.

What does Memphis want to happen though? Athletes are often in a privileged position where they can afford top lawyers to defend them equally they are also likely to be targeted. There are groups of girls who like to hang around with footballers but that doesn’t give the footballers the right to do what they want with them.

These women who are anonymous didn’t try to sell this to a newspaper or blackmail Mendy for financial gain they made complaints to the police about someone who they felt did things to them without their consent. It certainly felt like a cascade effect once one came forward others decided to come forward in total I think it was 6 women who he was accused of assaulting.

A thread that pretty much sums it up.

Not sure he'll be able to claim he should have been paid while he was in prison but the rest of the period he'll likely have a strong case for as it was the clubs decision to not allow him to train or play.
