Was going to say the same thing earlier... watched about 7-8 Luton games last season and he doesn't look anywhere near finished even at 30. It'll be a good signing by Villa if they do get him and it looks that way.

Wouldn't have been against us taking a punt for that price.

Might have a knock on effect to the Branthwaite deal, as they’ll probably be more inclined to dig their heels in further and not need to sell.

Would be a good move for Villa. Thought he looked decent in the Euro’s and looked good for Everton whenever I saw him.

I think it’s a good signing a replacement for Douglas Luiz.

John Duran with an early goal of the season contender.

Absolute screamer to win it yesterday.

This Jhon Duran looks like he’s going to be something special. A worldie tonight against Bayern - although Neuer was so far out of his goal.

How long can they keep him and Watkins happy?

At some point surely Duran is going to want to be a starter.

His goal scoring record this season is crazy.

Two in form strikers, what a mistake we made.

David looked good last night too

Villa were brilliant last night I really think they`ll batter us at the weekend.
Emery showing what a really good manager he is, wouldn't mind him at United.

Then its Ruud to the end of the season, he's not leaving CL behind to join our shower

The thing that has impressed me most with Emery at Villa is he's totally changed the way he plays.

He was always a good manager but he tended to be more defensive minded which didn't really work out for him with Arsenal and PSG but he's gone away and really changed the way he wants to play and Villa are brilliant to watch.

What was the mistake we made? We did not have the money to sign Watkins and then have been uproar if we'd signed Duran this form has come from nowhere he had 5 in 35 before this season. People would have been saying it's crazy to sign him and Villa probably would have wanted more than we paid for Zhirkzee.

the mistake was not buying a goal scorer.

We were looking at David for 25, then last minute changed to Zirkzee for 36. Apparently ETH had final decision.

You'd hope the manager did have the final decision. But doing it in Ligue 1 is very different to doing it in the premier league.

Hojlund will be back soon. We were unfortunate that he got injured in preseason and is taking a while to come back to fitness. We needed a striker who'll be happy to sit on the bench. Was David that man?

No, but it's just my opinion, I don't rate Hojlund.

The movement and general play of David is much more like a natural goal scorer in my view.

edit, dont get me wrong, he's still not top drawer

Yeah it’s going to be tough as Watkins is clearly the number one but Duran is pushing very hard on the door.

There was plenty of rumours that West Ham were in for Duran in the summer - bet they wish they’d pushed harder on that!

Chelsea were very keen on him too.

He'll never live it down. Probably the stupidest thing I've seen.

Funny though.

I remember when Gabriel did it against Bayern for Arsenal but the ref seemed to just shrug it off. Mings not so lucky last night.

Apparently the ref does has some discretion to use which was what happened with Arsenal last season.

It's one of the issues with these short restarts under the current rules there isn't an obvious point where the kick is clearly taken as it no longer has to leave the box before anyone else can touch it.

There are rumours he’s hard work in training, got a short fuse and always kicking off.

Chelsea tried to sign him in the summer

Reckon they’d sell Watkins before Duran.

Duran’s appeal against his red card rejected.

Will serve a 3 game ban.

Paid about £20m

A few teams seem to have passed on him but feels like they need an extra attacking player.
