He needs to leave this summer he's to good to be a number 2 and it's clear that's what Arsenal see him as now.

I did see something that Arteta was a big fan of Sterling when he was at City.

I think they are a bit short of wide options and Sterling would help.

I watched the whole game and Brighton got lucky to score while Arteta was planning what to do about Rice's dismissal. They were terrible the whole first half and were not a threat to Arsenal. They smashed Odegaard becuase they didn't want him playing. He was hobbling around and clearly hurt, which ended with him being subbed. They had a few chances at the end with their extra man, but were still lucky IMO to get anything. Saka should have scored twice.

They got lucky and like I said, when the game was even [11 players each] they posed no threat.

It's madness how far some are going to make ETH look like a better manager than he is.

It suggests that us being beaten by them might not have been so bad afterall.

Arsenal had those points in the bag until Rice was sent off. They were defintely about to put the game to bed. We never once looked like we were in that position, fighting tooth and nail just to be in the game. The level of management is not comparable.

If you didn't mean it like that, no worries.

It’s proper mad, innit. I’ll tell ya what is proper mad, the mental gymnastics by some folk. I made no reference to Ten Hag or indicated he is now a better manager because Arsenal also dropped points against Brighton.

I don't buy you meant nothing by it, but I'll believe you for arguments sake.

The sending off was spot on Rice got what he deserved kicking the ball away for a second yellow the refs have been told to clamp down on players retreating away from a free kick preventing them being taken.
Even better was that prick Keown moaning about it.

His desperation was so funny. He was chatting with the players and ref for ages after. He knew what he did. I hate when players do that, act all stupid as to what they know they've blatantly done 15 seconds ago.

It was in an area of no threat to Arsenal whatsoever, which just makes it even worse.

ahh poor Arsenal, Sky Sports sound like they feel sorry for them, how are they going to cope for NLD with the injury crisis.

F off, we were playing a LB at CB, a RB at LB, a CM at CB and 38 year old at CB last season ffs

Besides, they'll smash Spurs whatever

A big part of their success last season was they barely had any injuries so were able to field their best XI consistently probably cost them in Europe and the Cups but in the league it allowed them to be really consistent.

Doesn't feel like they addressed that over the summer it's still a small squad so if they do get hit by injuries they are really going to feel it.

The North London Derby is normally an absolute belter Arsenal being weakened a little bit will only make it more interesting.

Think it’s a bit of a make or break season for them they have to go 1 better this year and win the title or I think it’s finally considered a failure.

As for Arteta I think he’s a complete tit but you can’t really knock the job he’s done at Arsenal to turn them into a top side.

Really, a failure? not compared to united

You cant expect titles with City, but he's getting them top 4 regular. thats all you can ask

All relative though isn’t it? For Utd this season not making top 4 is failure but Arsenal are through that stage now they’re a genuine title challenger to City.

Arteta was given 2-3 seasons to sort out the mess he inherited but he’s through that now and they’ve now got a squad capable of challenging City.

I think when you go that close twice the 3rd time you need to get over the line otherwise it’s failure.

Obviously if City have a crazy season and get 95+ points there isn’t much you can do but Arsenal need to be pushing City to that level go out and get 90+ points and make City be really special to beat you.

I'm not sure I agree, he doesn't need to win, he's very close, competing until the last few weeks. Thats all you can ask for. Especially against City

I think if he finished 2nd again he’d see it as failure especially if they got less points than last season.

They’ve got to be considered real contenders in Europe too. Last season they froze a bit against Bayern but that team is good enough to win either the league or the European cup.

The weakness is the squad they don’t have a lot of quality depth.

I thought Arsenal were showing their old frailties being oegged back to 2-2. Then end with a flourish

He will miss the home game against Liverpool and the away match at Newcastle.

Just a 1 game ban but it’s a big one to miss.

3rd red card this season, disciple becoming an issue for a team that plays on the edge
