His former girlfriend has reported him to police in Brazil over both physical and verbal abuse over the last 12 months.

It is alleged that she has provided evidence of some of the injuries she suffered.

The final threat was him allegedly saying over the phone he would kill her if he saw her with another man, this was on the same day he played for Utd against Bournemouth.

The police have 6 months to decide if they want to press charges.

Isn’t just a footballer thing sadly this sort of stuff happens across all levels of society.

As above post judgement should be reserved until full reports come out and a decision on prosecution is made.

Nah mate i'm still on the juice - w'dayya mean you can tell. LOL

Unforced Errors is a tennis stat.

Next you’ll be saying he’s got a lovely backhand… going by the reports from his ex mrs he’s been practising it at home.

Still applies to football Shirley.

And you don't have to believe everything you read.

Don’t call me Shirley.

As I said reports and she has reported it to the police so let’s see what happens.

Oh yeah let's hope he gets arrested and they throw away the key ....

If he’s done what she claims then he should never play for the club again and deal with whatever sentence comes his way.

And, as seems likely, he hasn't ....

Then there's nothing to talk about but until the police decide if they want to press charges we don't know either way, hence why he's allowed to continue playing for Utd.

I guess, using Greenwood as a blueprint, Antony should be dropped, especially as Brazil have. Could bring more awkward questions and publicity

If he's fit he will start United's next match, and rightly so.

I think there's a slight difference in that the in the Greenwood case information was made public before decisions were made about his charges so the club had to act and were really left with no choice. This wasn't he said/she said information it was pictures and audio that was pretty horrific and to this day hasn't been publicly explained. I can't remember how quickly he was arrested and questioned and placed on bail but it seemed like all of that happened quite quickly.

In this case these are allegations and they've been around since June and so far neither Brazilian or UK police have said they are pressing charges against him as they are still investigating the allegations.

So far the player has not been arrested and questioned by police either in Brazil or in the UK if it reaches that point then things may change but at this stage I don't expect Utd to act. Obviously if he's charged by the CPS then he will need to be taken out of the team.

What I can say is this is another headache that the manager just doesn't need especially as this time it involves a guy who's he's brought to the club who hasn't really paid off for him on the pitch and now is in the headlines off it for some very serious allegations.

She produced photos apparently, not that that proves anything

The only good thing is maybe the glazers think it's getting too much

Exactly the police will need to collect the evidence and interview everyone involved and decide if there's a case to be heard.

Just look at the Giggs situation that took 3 years to reach a conclusion. The first trial reached no verdict and the second trial collapsed when his former partner decided she didn't want to go through another trial.

Doesn't mean he's guilty or not guilty just that a court couldn't decide either way.

From what has been reported it sounds like this relationship was not a healthy one and so far we've only heard one side of it. The fact she's going to the tabloids to sell her story rather than just leaving it all in the hands of the police to me sounds dodgy if what she's said is true she hasn't helped her chances of him being found guilty.

I think the Brazil national team made the right decision in taking him out of the squad for these games.

Looks like the pressure is going to continue to grow, new photos today. Again they don't prove anything though.
But I think the pressure will get too much for the club

Anthony has been questioned by the police in Brazil as part of their investigation.

I don't think we will suspend him until someone charges him or he's arrested.

Be disgusted at the club if they were to suspend Antony before the matter was dealt with by the Brazilian authorities. Not that i'd trust their findings as they take bent to a totally different level(apparently)

the thing is, they dropped Greenwood immediately, so really, they need to do the same.

Two totally different cases though, if Greenwood had been found guilty of all offences he would have been sent to the Big House for 10+ years, the worst that will happen to Antony is he'll have to pay her £250,000 compensation and buy her a new tit.

Greenwood was arrested very soon after the posts went on social media.

He was questioned and then released on bail.

The allegations against him were also a lot more serious as they included possible rape charges.

As far as I can see from the reports Anthony has not been arrested but has been questioned by Brazilian police who have been investigating this complaint for 3 months.

If Utd were going to act they’d have done it 3 months ago, none of this stuff that’s been reported in the last 48 hours is new it was all leaked to the press in June.

There was already a thread maybe these two threads can be merged into 1 by the mods

Ha.

I think united have proved they are incompetent in these situations

Does it not get boring trying to find fault in every single thing the club does?

There was no rule book to follow, the Premier League/FA would have been a waste of time, and in the circumstances United acted with a lot of class weighing up what was best for all the parties involved, especially the so-called victim.

It's not finding fault. It's facts.

I'll follow your lead. Handled the Greenwood case perfectly, couldn't have done better

Also, to be fair, what the club is excellent at, is making it easy to find fault.

Report today saying one of the claims of assault is at a Manchester hotel, the same night the club dispatched a member of the medical staff to the hotel.
Now being accused of a potential cover up.

The cover up stuff is b*llocks the club sent a doctor to the hotel at the request of the player liaison officer.

The doctor cannot tell the club what they dealt with as they have to consider the confidentiality if they felt there was a risk of serious harm or concern over potential abuse they are able to report it to the police but they wouldn't report it to the club.

The club regularly arrange for doctors to attend players family homes to assist with medical situations especially new players who are still settling in and won't have arranged doctors yet.

As for the handling of the Greenwood case they got it spot on until they had to deal with an almost impossible situation. I think they got the end of the process wrong because they totally misread the fan mood over him returning. If the majority of Utd fans wanted him back and trusted the clubs current leadership he'd be back. The reality is the fan base don't trust our current owners and board and from most polls I've seen somewhere around 75% didn't want Greenwood to return.

so it's confidential, nobody knows, but you can call it bulls***, because somehow you know.

I'd say the fact she raised it to the Brazillian police, something is in it..

We shall see
