Andreas Pereira match discussion thread for the 2014/15 season.

On the bench today. A show of faith from van Gaal. He's a '10' but in my opinion could end up playing deeper.

Didn't see the game but read he was controlling the game better. Involvement in first team has helped and perhaps made him work harder, on the fringes now.

It does look like he's ironed out those careless errors from his game. Being involved with the first team has given him direction it seems, and a goal to work towards. At times when I watched him last season he looked bored and was careless in possession, but Paul Pogba for example was guilty of that as well at underage levels, when he also was seemingly miles away from the first team at the time. When the carrot is put on the stick for these young players there talent shines through and that seems to be the case with Pereira now that he's involved with the first team.

Interesting him playing in that deeper position. Would be great if we could get him through in that position because he could really boss things for us in the middle if he develops as he should. The right centre of a diamond would be the ideal position for him I think.

I was of the opinion that it may be best for him to go on loan next season to get games but I'd love to see him get chances for us next season. I feel we need to freshen up our attack, it's become so lifeless, we need hunger and energy up there, having proven players hasn't really worked out for us so why not go back to doing what we do best, buying young and/or bringing our own through.
