Big second season for him to see if he can eradicate those stupid mistakes. He definitely did improve as last season went on and overall I was happy with his overall season. However, some of his performances in the CL were not good at all!

I don’t think the new leadership team will have any qualms about cutting a player if they don’t meet expectations.

Good save from Tete not much else for him to do.

Thought his kicking was poor hopefully just a bit of rust.

to be honest, his distribution lat year was poor, considering thats why we got him.

He's a decent enough keeper, long term he might need upgrading. But he does seem to be learning fast, so I'm not giving up.

His long kicking isn't as good as I was expecting it to be but his short game is really good which is what he was bought for.

That was the bit De Gea just couldn't do.

Yes but every time he has the ball at his feet my heart is in my mouth. He does not bring any stability to the defence. His kicking maybe better than Degea for sure and the two faults that DeGea had was his kicking and his poor handling of the high balls. But normally he saves almost impossible saves a lot of times. With time maybe Onana might bring that kind of reliability but right now it is a gamble. A bit like Baillly to me.

I'm never worried when Onana has the ball at his feet I think he's made one error with his passing that sticks in my mind which was at home to Galatasary where played a terrible pass that ended up with a penalty and red card for Casemiro.

His long kicking isn't great but he doesn't really have anyone to hit with the long balls as none of our attackers are going to win balls in the air as they're all crap in the air.

That is true until Rasmus is back or we get Toney or someone else.

Rasmus is poor in the air.

Hearing that Zirkzee isn't great either.

Not necessarily a lack of height it's more a lack of ability as we've got some big boys up there but they are just aren't good at attacking the ball in the air.

I would not say Rasmus is poor in the air. He goes for it and he is big and strong enough to hold the ball. He is the best of our forwards in the air.

Rasmus needs to improve all his game rapidly if we are to rely on him again,

Positioning, hold up, heading, decion making. The only thing he has at the moment is shooting when he has no time to think.

He is only 21 and just starting in the PL. Added to that the wingers last season why trying to shoot all the time.

yeah, I'm not saying he has a problem, or he wont be a superb forward one day,

For me, he's not ready to lead our line yet. Got lots to learn

We have a number of players that have weaknesses, too one footed, not great in the air, poor decision makers etc.
Maybe they should take a leaf out of Ronaldo’s book when he was with us in his early years and stay behind after training to work on their game, never did him any harm.

Back to goal I think he's poor just isn't a part of his game at the moment and it's an area he's going to need to massively improve to become a top striker.

Not saying he backs out and doesn't go for it but he just doesn't know how to win the ball in the air consistently he doesn't read it and get into position early against the centre back so he can hold them off and win it.

A lot of the time you want the ball to be going to the wide men when you do go long to beat the press so it isn't all on Rasmus.

That was Cantona's gift to the 'class of 92'. The 'where are you going?' to them after training had supposedly finished.

Man of the match yesterday.

Kept his team in it for the first half hour then put his feet up and sparked up a cigar for the next hour.

He gets a fair amount of heat on here but kept us in it in that first half. Fine save from Dibling and then the penalty save.

It's all well and good being 'good' when you have the ball at your feet. The fact is that he is not a good shot stopper low down on either side, which I would aver is rather a prerequisite for a goalkeeper.

Man of the match is a wild (and woeful) stretch. Firstly he made 2 actual saves the entire game. Secondly man of the match was very clearly De Ligt.

The penalty save without a doubt mattered and was a massive swinging point in momentum but let's not go overboard. Also does De Ligt a massive disservice who made a save himself just has big and got us the opener at the other end.

I can only go on what I saw which was the second half and the highlights on match of the day.

For me Onana kept us in it for the first half hour with two big saves which then gave the team the platform to go win it.

De Ligt was also very good which after his international games was also good news.

Mate, that first save is not a big save, that goes in I would be horrified.

All pen saves are good, but that was a poor pen.

De Ligt, Rashford, Mazaouri all would be more worty, heck I'd even say Eriksen.
You cant give motm to someone who hardly had to do anything.

I can see how hard it is for you to give the guy any sort of praise! :p

He wasn’t man of the match granted but for me he was in the top three for the two saves he made. Those go in and we probably would have struggled to win the game because we’ve got form when we concede one another one isn’t too far away.

He deserves a little bit of praise now and again! His job is to make saves and that’s what he did on Saturday. If there is the logic of that’s what he is there to do then no-one will ever get praised. A striker is there to score goals but is praised when he scores one.

Ok I admit it I thought I’d stir the pot a bit but it isn’t an outrageous shout.

From the bits I saw of the game it looked like everyone put in a 6 or 7 out of 10.

The stand outs that proving the big moments were Onana, De Ligt & Rashford. You could argue these 3 were the 8/10s

The penalty save was the turning point in the game and it’s a good save so for me that just nudges him into first.

What a rascal!

What a rascal!

If I had a moustache I would be twirling the end of it.

Just thought the big man deserved a shout out. Saved a penalty and not one post on his match thread.

Now watch him do something daft in the next game

A one-legged dwarf would have saved that penalty. There was time for a cuppa for any premier league goalkeeper. That is probably why he didn't get any praise for it.

Honestly you can't win with some people.

That penalty save was about as impressive as De Ligts header but you won't find people knocking that.

Just nice to have a bit of positivity to talk about for a change.

It was a bad penalty but he went the right way so I`d give him that, I never go on one game either, overall he`s not been good enough at his time at the club so far, needs to improve his low down shot stopping.

If Onana had dived the wrong way, then the praise would be for Archer for a cool and good penalty.

He gets harshly commented on for ‘easy’ saves he should make but when he does save a penalty it’s like ‘meh anyone could have saved that’.

Oh I will give him the pen save all day. And i defended him when others around said its about time he saves a pen. But De Ligts goal line clearance was just as valuable.

The save in the first half he should be saving.

He played for a 10 minute period and did nothing for 80 minutes. Hardly man of the match worthy. Never said he was poor simply he was nowhere near a motm candidate. There were 7 players on the pitch I would say had a better game.

I just can't call the save a good one. It's far too basic.

I can credit him for something way more valuable though - the turning of the game on its head. He gets that credit 100%. He did all he could do, so that's obviously great.

Just nice to have a bit of positivity to talk about for a change.

Head to the Zirkzee thread then, that is where the positivity should be, yet nobody seems to have noticed just how well he did on Saturday. If he had of scored he would have been MOTM easily.
