Can’t believe he didn’t get his own thread at the start of the season.

Good to see him get some games with Onana now bedded in after a full season this guy deserves the cup and maybe even the europa games.

Sorry forgot he existed! :p

Poor for Arsenal’s goal but did he redeem himself! A penalty save and a top save from Rice’s effort. Awful kicking mind, on how many occasions did he kick the ball directly into tough? Anyways, happy for the lad.

He was immense once we went down to 10 today. Was not going to be beaten.

I want that penalty save in normal time on my wall. Will be ordering it as soon as Red Canvas have it.

Played well overall and better taking balls in the air which is why he was selected, won’t have done his confidence any harm.

Great penalty saves but the rest of his game you can see why he’s number 2.

Yeah, without raining on his parade a new back up goalkeeper is required in the summer.

Think there’s way to much else to sort.

He’s an ok number 2 for the cups but if the number 1 got injured you wouldn’t want this guy in for 10 games.

Don't see that. He made 2 more fantastic saves. Once we were down to 10 he was the best player on the pitch.

Let's be honest, our no. 1 keeper needs replacing.

Bayindir was poor in his first game and started badly tonight.
But without much game time maybe it's rustiness.
His distribution was poor
But boy when we needed someone did he stand up today
And maybe with more games he'd be ok

Dodgy punch for Gabriel’s goal and his kicking was dreadful. However, a couple of fantastic saves especially the one from Rice. And then obviously the two penalty saves.

If our number 1 did the punch that led to the equaliser you’d be all over it.

Not just today but from what we’ve seen of him in other games he’s a very average keeper.

Happy he had his moment today and hopefully they continue through the rest of the cup games but this guy isn’t a top keeper.

Either he played a blinder today, or he's another Schmiechel.
Time will tell.
Personally I think a couple of the saves he made we would have seen Jigsaw watching them hit the back of the net

He was miles better than Onana today. If we had a proper number one I'd agree with you.

The punch he made for the goal was poor. However he came when Onana would have stayed on his line and conceded from the first header and shook his head and if he came flapped at it too.

There was a save in the second half down to Bayindirs left foot. Onana could have never got there because he can't get down that quick.

Onana is the weak link of a poor side. Whilst the back up isn't amazing he put in a much better performance than we usually get from our keeper.

Even the missed chances. They come from the goalie being aggressive and big not shying away. Onana is a weird one. He wants to come 30 yards from his goal but if the ball is in his 6 yard box he's stuck on his line frozen.

However doesn't change what I said. Once we were down to 10 he turned in to superman.

Today was the best keeping performance we've seen since De Gea left. That shouldn't be lost on anyone.

The only save to me that looked anything special was the penalty saves the rest were saves you expect a keeper to make.

His kicking was poor yesterday it's clearly a weakness in his game.

Happy to give him his applause for a good performance yesterday but I wasn't coming out of that game thinking he's put real pressure on Onana for that starting spot.

Onana who I admit is flawed is a better keeper.

Onana is not the better keeper, he's better at distribution, and he's not exactly brilliant at that.

Precisely this.

I also thought the defence looked calmer with Bayindir behind them.

Neither of them are that good at distribution, unless Onana sending it straight to the opposition is a mark of good distribution.
We also have to see Bayinder in more games, he played a blinder yesterday, and saved some that in my opinion Onana would have watched go past him, I also like the way he actually challenges for the ball, reminds me a little of VDS, he also seems more agile, and more aware of the game as a whole.
As I say, he needs more time between the sticks, I would like to see him there for all our games in January at least.

Honestly, he shocked me with this performance.

The reality is, if Onana starts that game we lose. That says a lot.

I think Bayindir does the bread and butter of goalkeeping so much better than Onana.

Would appear the error leading to Arsenal’s goal is being ignored to suit one’s narrative. It was awful goalkeeping. Onana has had better games this season.

The argument for him replacing Onana is a little premature in my opinion. He played well against Arsenal but his previous game against Spurs was an absolute shocker.

Yesterday still wasn’t perfect when taking everything into account, his kicking was poor and flapped at a couple of crosses.

I wouldn’t mind giving him a little run as Onana also has flappy moments but I don’t think he will get another game until the next round of the FA Cup - maybe a Europa one as well.

Yep, seems like the first half performance is being swept under the carpet.

Saying that, I wouldn't be disappointed to see him start the next game or two, as it could mean Onana understands he has to raise his game. Competition can only be a good thing.

Bayindir needs to dramatically improve his distribution if he wants to fight for that No.1 spot.

I don't think I am saying he should replace him. But i do think, after some poor Onana performances, there is nothing wrong to see what he can do in a run of games.

Not sure what you are on about, Ok he had a shaky start, put that down to nerves, but he settled and was virtually a brick wall.
Onana tends to have a shaky start, middle and end.

I don't see why he does to be honest. Onana is no better, and some may even say he's worse.

I said on the match thread I would sub off Bayindir he was doing that badly.... so you see I've swept nothing anywhere.

He totally redeemed himself with the penalty save and one handed stop against rice. Those are key goalkeeping abilities. I know Onana doesn't save the pen, and it's questionable he makes the Rice stop too.

Decent performance.

Games like that certainly give the manager something to think about.
