FA Cup: Yeovil Town v Manchester United - 26th January 2018

Motm according to the Beeb. He played well and thankfully survived the Yeovil pitch and tackles.

He was decent considering this was his first game and the state of the pitch. Not outstanding imo. But pretty decent.

I know he gave the ball away abit but he also did things that were class. His got so much composure in and around the box that his going to create or score a lot of goals for us.

How bitter was Martin Keown by the way? Can see his taken the move Well!

I think you could see his has genuine quality and there is a lot more to come from him. Keowns commentary, like his football career is simplistic to say the least. His argument for alexis going to city just because they have the best team is laughable. If every decent player adopted that theory city would never have had a good team.

Was only half watching as we were playing darts down the pub but every time I seen him on the ball, he was back-heeling to create opportunities. A more natural wide player than what we have in terms of being able to create chances as well as score.

Premier League: Manchester United 2-0 Huddersfield Town - 3rd February 2018

He was quality.

Huddersfield kicked lumps out of him and plenty of what he tried didn’t work but he just kept going and going and got his reward.

Absolutely relentless winger. 10 dribbles in a game. There's a few out there that criticise Martial for not doing enough and this is where they are probably correct, you want to see Martial dominating like that, capable of beating players with ease but doesn't do it enough. Rashford when on form does. With Sanchez in, you'd think both will see more games on the right or through the middle (where they probably both prefer to be)

Premier League: Newcastle United 1-0 Manchester United - 11th February 2018

I love to see a work horse and there's no doubt he is one. The guys super talented and his on the cusp at times of doing something special. But he needs to be closer to rom sprinkling that magic about. Don't wanna see him coming deep and playing centre mid. Stay up there Alexis! Stretch sides. Get on roms touches and headers and play closer to the goal please!

Why didn’t he shoot?

Did he lose his balance or did he think he had more time?

He really wasted the best chance of the game today but still played very well buzzing around up top and seems to be finding his place in the team getting used to his new team mates, they are starting to link together.

Hope Jose sticks with this front 3 and gives them a proper run of games but he probably won’t

If we stick with 4-2-3-1 then Alexis is the 10/free role guy/shadow striker whatever. Just up top with Rom. Playing off his heavy touch and getting on the end of things.

Or he goes 4-3-3 and gets someone's else in to release Pogba like we hoped Matic would at the start of the year. We haven't got the player to do that yet. We need someone with more energy then Ander.

Either way I don't think that Alexis playing on the left is hurting martial. Considering that Martial had that 1 vs 1. That back post header. And was getting into positive positions. But we've got to stick at this now. Don't throw it away because we lost today. This front 3 need to play and learn off each other.

Champions League: Sevilla 0-0 Manchester United - 21st February 2018

I dunno he’s spent most of the game 50 yards from their goal and when he has got it he’s surrounded by 2 or 3 players with no one near him.

How is this still 0-0? Mourinho has got to change it we are hanging on here get Rashford & Martial on for Lukaku & Mata that ball has got to stick better up top.
But that's my point @jsp. He is not what was needed no matter if he came available at an opportune time or not. He was terrible, never carried the ball, completed like 3 passes all night. Now one Lukaku should have done better with, but Martial or Rashford would have done more than he did. I don't see it working with Sanchez at all.
I hasten to add, I have been a Sanchez fan since he was at Udinese. So it's not that I have an axe to grind.

I think we’ve got to give it a bit of time to find his feet he’s had some good games and some bad there’s signs of a link up formind with Lukaku who I think enjoys the quick ball but we’ve got to get the rest of the team higher up the pitch especially away and pen teams in a bit. Sanchez is great when you can sustain pressure but I think the way we’ve been setup recently it’s almost impossible to look good up top in this team.

Think he might be one we don’t really see the best of until next season when he’s had a summers rest and full pre season with the team.

I dunno i'm watching him and thinking why is he not going past players like Rashford/Martial do? Or why is he keeping hold of the ball there with 2 players closing him down?
In my mind he is stunting the United attack. Martial/Rashford on that side are better than him. Might be time to try him on the right but I doubt that will change much.
Sanchez's best position now is where Lukaku plays, but big don't see JM dropping Lukaku for him.
So that's why I feel it's a huge mistake.

I don’t get any complaints. The guy is class. He can’t do anything with the fact no one gets him the ball early enough or no one does anything with the ball when he gets it to them. Alexis is a front foot player wants to run wants to attack. Wasn’t given a chance tonight as everytime he touches the ball got fouled

I haven't been blown away by him but you can see the quality is there especially with balls into feet he turns on the ball are a thing of beauty, just think he's getting to know his team mates. Last night Sevilla even said pre game they had a plan for him and the made sure whenever he got the ball he was under pressure from 2 or 3 players, the issue was really that he didn't escape from them once if you do that suddenly you open up a lot of space but not many players can get out of these situations. Most of his touches were a long way from goal as the team just didn't come up the pitch and we didn't really seem to be able to get in behind them possibly because Lukaku doesn't really look to run channels or the balls over the top weren't good enough. Another contributing thing was our wide players were so far from goal when the ball goes to Lukaku quickly he's normally got 2 centre backs and a holding mid to wrestle with and in that situation you've got no chance.

I think a settled front 3 would be a good thing for Utd for a few weeks it seems that Mata is in that front 3 but personally I think we need one of the young uns in it but with the midfield being more defensive it was definitely 2 holding and 1 attacking last night rather than 1 holding and 2 attacking we just couldn't bring the team up the pitch at all.

The one thing that infuriated me last night. How many times did Lukaku get the ball and he’s out on the right wing?

Mata where was he all night? Also Lukaku stepping up to take the free kick? Has he taken one in his life before?

If we can sort the midfield out in the summer and have a constant 3 who dominate games and two players that can break forward and play forward passes, it will hopefully free up the wide men to a bit more expansive, the worry for me is that whenever someone picks the ball up he has no options at all, when you look at other teams, every player has 3/4/5 options, we never do, the right hand side (so bored of saying this) offers us absolutely zero, Valencia hasn't offered us to much width there of late, Mata comes inside all the bloody time so we have no outlet on that side.

Everything comes down the left, as it did before we signed Sanchez, to be honest he has made zero difference to how we play as we have done what we have done since Fergie left, bought a player due to his name rather than what we actually need, now Jose is saying we don't need anymore attackers, is he on a wind up?

Until we have a natural right winger it will always be the same, try and fit Martial/Sanchez over that side (square peg in round hole), rather than buying a specialist right winger. Martial offered twice as much in ten minutes than Sanchez did in 75 minutes.

The way Matic is playing at the moment, for me next season he becomes a squad player, Pogba left, Jorginho DMC, Vidal/Seri right, if we can sort that midfield out then hopefully the attack will fall into place.

Premier League: Manchester United 2-1 Chelsea - 25th February 2018

He looked a frustrated figure at times.

Still think he's finding his feet in the attacking line up.

He was involved in the first goal and helped setup that chance for Lukaku on the overhead but he's not currently involved in the game very much and he wasted a very good chance in the first half when he managed to break into the box but let the ball get away from him.

Seemed like him and Martial swapped a bit yesterday but I'm starting to wonder if these boys can play together we made ourselves so narrow we had no one on the right yesterday we either need a right back that can be more attacking like Walker is at City or we need a right forward who stays out wide to give us that width that Valencia did when he played that position.

2 or 3 times yesterday we broke on them and there was so much space out right but there was never anyone there.

That's also 2 chances he has fluffed by taking a touch instead of hitting it first time, yesterday's was a fair bit more difficult that at Newcastle tho.

He will be a better player when Shaw starts to play regularly and we sign a energetic right back. Those two will give us the width then. Meaning Alexis/Martial/Rashford can all be a second strikers, closer and narrower to Lukaku. No one wants to play on the wing for us, either side. Plus Valencia's legs have gone. So there's no width to our game.

Its lopsided to fit Alexis in, but an attack minded right full back would balance it out. Given Matic will sit anyway you'd have the protection to allow a right full back to bomb on. You could argue that a new centre back might not be needed with Lindelof. But i'd sell Smalling and get another one in and have Lindelof and Jones as the back ups.

Excuse the dots dont know how to do it without them though.

Another January signing that needs time to adapt; Joins Vidic, Evra and Mata in that list. Will have the summer off with no World Cup for Chile so hopefully be fresh and firing on all cylinders next season. Hopefully he can do more this season though.

Will be older again next season (obvs) and i used to think he was rapid, but against Seville Navas had him on toast.

True but Jesus Navas is one of the quickest players in the game.

Sanchez quality was never straight line speed it was his agility and the fact he can turn quickly and wiggle through tight gaps we've seen some of that but we haven't really had many matches with him where we are on the front foot all the time apart from the Huddersfield home game.

He needs a big game soon though, the Pogba/Mourinho issue has probably distracted the media's attention from his performances so far.

The guy has been here a month. Played no competitive football for a month prior to that. Has had a stop start season and coming in to a side that has been stuttering can't find any form and doesn't have any rhythm to it's play. Not sure what people expect. The guys a great footballer but will still take time for him to adjust to the side and the side to adjust to him. I think there is a lot of rose tinted glasses going on about this apparent football we were playing before he turned up.

He's never been rapid certainly hasn't lost any pace and if we want to get the best out of him we should actually try getting the ball to him. He didn't have a bad game against Chelsea. I saw people question why Martial was taken off and not Sanchez I was shocked. Sanchez was making an effort both on and off the ball whilst Martial was stood static with and without the ball and when he did get the ball he lost it all bar once.

Pogba needs to release the ball faster and Sanchez needs to be starting further forward than he currently is. We don't want him picking the ball up in our own half with 8 players to beat and only Lukaku in front of him.

Our best period of football was in August/September mainly against poor sides but we were free flowing playing 4-1-4-1 and we were ruthlessly killing teams off late on mainly after we'd swap our wide player so if Rashford started Martial came on to finish them off then Martial would start and Rashford came on to finish them off, it was a decent little ploy by Jose. Then Pogba got injured and ever since then we've been grinding out results, Mkhitaryan early season form dropped off massively, Lukaku stopped scoring and it's become more about tight wins that blowing teams away late on. Some of that is down to the fixtures piling up so rather than go and kill a team off with late goals we've tried to hang on to what we have and save legs and some of it is because the games got a bit tougher.

I think he needs time to settle in it still feels a bit pre season with him in the team the attack are slowly starting to work out what each other are going to do a big part of football at this level is anticipating what your team mate will do so you can release the ball early to him. At the moment it still feels like they're working this out and hopefully over the next few months they'll develop some moves that will unlock defences a bit more easily, Sanchez & Lukaku seem to be getting something going just need to get Martial in on the act as well.

He's been here for 4 weeks and we've played 7 games so there's probably not been a lot of tactical work going on I think the trip to Dubai was before he joined? I know it's a free week this week but the players have all been given a few days off to rest I'm guessing they'll be back in Thursday to prepare for Palace on Monday it might be that Sanchez is one who's staying behind to work on things with coaches but who knows.

I never said we were playing great football this season. I've never thought any of our football under Mourinho has been any good. But I see why the StatsBomb guys were so dubious about this deal. We are now paying another fortune for a star on the wane. It is not in the ethos of the club I grew up watching to do so. Sorry to have pointed out that excepting playing Yeovil he has been pony!

He really hasn’t been. He’s also not on the wane. The guy is in his prime for crying out loud. It’s been 7 games he’s been motm in 3.

It’s a fantastic deal for the club and he’s already paid for himself this season in shirt sales. Sanchez United shirt is the top selling shirt in the world this season. Covered his wages

The club you loved also signed Berbatov Blanc Van der Saar Cantona Sheringham all players either in their prime or waning.

Cantona was 26 when he signed for Utd and Berbatov 27 none of the players you listed above relied on their speed in any way as they’d never had it.

Also, I don’t buy those shirt sale quotes either as the club take big lump sum deals from Adidas which mean most of the shirts sale revenue goes straight to them then when certain targets are hit profits are shared.

The money is really really irrelevant in 12 months time Sanchez will be judged on how many goals and assists he’s had in those 12 months and how he’s done in big games.

The only criticism I’d have of his signing is if we planned to play him left of a front 3 was he really necessary given we already have Martial/Rashford. We strengthened a strength rather than potentially strengthen a weakness on the right with a player like Mahrez or Moura or whoever.
