So it's time for the last dance of the season and rather than the dance with the girl you thought was out of your league all this time it's the 2am desperation dash.

We hopefully are foced to watch this bunch of bellends one last time under a manager who clearly gave up trying not long after they did.

There are rumours Lingard has asked not to be involved just for that reason I'd make him travel and sit in the stands.

Would be nice to see a few of the kids from the start but Utd actually need to go for the win here to protect 6th spot from West Ham would could still overtake us if they win their final game and we don't beat Palace.

Would be nice if a few of them could at least be arsed to get us over the line here and then bugger off and never return.

Hopefully ETH will be in the stand watching this bunch. That may encourage some of them to play well enought to win the last game.

I have never been as ready for a season to end as this one. I kinda understand what Rich on here was saying awhile ago about his love for football being snuffed out. For awhile there I watched every United game, including the U23s, U18s, and women's team (when those were available on MUTV), even when it meant shelling out for additional subscriptions to watch the various competitions. Watching United was a fun thing, even when we didn't play great. I'm just ready for this shit to end. Bring in ETH, get rid of the players who can't or won't perform to standards, rebuild. It's not just the sorry results and league table, it's the knowledge that the club owners basically stole the club and staffed the management side with a bunch of salesmen and no football men. We've been adrift for a decade. I want to believe that they have finally woken from their slumber, that appointing ETH and pursing deJong and deLight and others is an admission that they know they haven't done well enough and are determined to get us back up in contention. After every defeat I get a dozen taunting texts from friends, still traumatized by the United of the 2000s and 2010s that won everything. I tell them we've been shit for years. It's still my club but I would like to enjoy the act of watching them play, and hopefully ETH gets us going in that direction.

I understand you, but don't hope to much about De Jong and De Ligt. We are in a situation when this kinds of players will not come. We certainly need to lower your standard. We will see about that, soon.

I think it’s inevitable that your enjoyment of football does kind of wane a little when your team isn’t doing so well, that’s only natural. I have not enjoyed watching us this season - there has been the odd moment when we’ve been played okay. Overall though it’s been an absolute shocker.

I actually had a random dream last night that we lost 6-1 to Newcastle at home and Telles scored the 6th (come get him Howe!).

Got to hang in there I guess and hope ETH is finally the man to turn things around!

As for this game - meh. Hope we can put on a good show last up as we do need a win here to guarantee Europa success. I think one or two of the kids deserve a little run out but it’s more likely another farewell tour is coming up.

We don't want to be in that ultra mickey mouse euro comp. A win is needed.

I said before, I've never seen a united team where they are so far removed from the fans. Nothing about them makes me want to support them. If we could swap all players I would. I can't bear a single player.

Of course it's football, come next season I'll be loving them again :p........probably.

It's amazing because 12 months ago you'd probably say the bond between players and fans had never been stronger it's amazing how quickly fans opinions of people can change.

That was a really, really long 12 months.

Yep it was incredible how quickly the whole thing unravelled it was really a few months between August and November the whole thing just collapsed in on itself.

Just shows what a bad summer can do to a club not clearing out the unhappy players really backfired on us and that glum mood I think spread through that dressing room like a cancer that won't go until certain players are gone.

Sure we will do okay for a few games then when we start to believe, the team will cut us down!

I hold out hope that ETH is our messiah though!

According to the press conference Shaw, Sancho and Jones are doubts for the game.

Shaw has just had his second child and the other two didn't train today due to niggles.

Garnacho was also ill this week so he's unlikely to feature for the game.

I think part of it, too, is understanding that the players we have want to play. It sounds obvious but we treat it as a surprise when players don’t like sitting on the bench (or not even making the bench). Case in point is Lingard. Wasn’t playing, got a loan move, did exceptionally well, then was promised he’d be part of the match day squads - and wasn’t. He is literally watching his career wasting away while our first team couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo; when goals were at a premium, we had a player who scored like 6 in 8 for a (supposedly) weaker team but we refused to play him.
Lingard has been at the club since he was a zygote. He is many friends, seems a really pleasant, fun person: obviously his friends will see that he’s been given short shrift. So Lingard plus friends respond to bad results or questions about why they aren’t playing. Lingard would stay if offered a contract, so he gave everything he could for the club. Meanwhile we turned into an abysmal team, a joke outfit unworthy of the shirt. How would any of us feel if our jobs + passions were treated similarly?
I don’t think it’s a matter of being professional - they are paid astronomical amount me to chase a ball, after all - but if they aren’t going to play, let them know, allow them to leave. We basically blocked Lingard’s move (with the caveat that West Ham wouldn’t pay up), sat him on the bench, and expected him to not react.
He’s just one example. Bailly, AWB, Lindelof, could also make arguments for why they’ve been unfairly treated; maybe Henderson, Rashford, Mata, Matic too. If the results justified their exclusion, OGS or RR would have a case, but when we’re serving up shit on a stick (minus the stick) week after week, there is no case.
I wouldn’t pick a lot of these players in my starting XI, but I do realize that a lot of players need minutes to get into form. These disgruntled players don’t get any chances.
Yes, they are filthy rich and it’s only a game, but it’s also their lives.

I'm mortified, I just thought he was fat.

Just got to hope some of these guys want to prove a point to ETH who I’ve read will be in attendance.

A few youngsters in the squad for what I’ve read - Savage, Fernandez and Shoretire. Garnacho has been ill but could make it on the bench.

Won't matter for me. I vowed if Liverpool win the quadruple then I'm done for good with football.

Don’t get me wrong, it’ll be horrendous to see Liverpool win the quadruple but it wouldn’t make me want to contemplate giving up football.

Would be one hell of an horrific end to a truly dreadful season! And Leeds could stay up - okay I take it back, I hate you football!

Honestly I'd be over and out with it I really would. I may not be a huge United fan anymore but I'm a huge hater of that club.

Stumbling into the Europa League like a drunk man coming out of the pub. Thank god for Brighton because we cannot be trusted to get the job done!

With hindsight do the Ole out crowd realise how ridiculous they were?

Not really. You need to remember that in Ole's final run of matches we were in such poor form, and we lost to Watford.

His last game was a 4-1 defeat to Watford, who have been beyond awful this season.

Ralf hasn’t worked out clearly but it’s ridiculous to think Ole would have done any better if he remained in charge.

Not at all. RR inherited a mess of Ole's making. Admittedly, not Ole's alone, but the drop off under Ole in terms of tactics, fitness, motivation, etc proved too big a challenge.

Ole had the time to leave us in a better state than he found us. He failed.

Clearly isn't ridiculous to think Ole would have gone on a winning run. He did everytime after a losing streak.

I was never 'Ole out', but I did say that Ole would never make this squad champions. Either we needed to heavily re-invest in new players, or get a better manager to get a tune out of these players. We did neither. Ole helped clear the toxic atmosphere Jose created, but he just wasn't tactically astute, and seemed to have no real plan for changing games. Rangnick is not the messiah either, but maybe ETH is. In retrospect, maybe we would have finished in exactly the same place, but we gambled and tried RR. I don't think Ole would have done any better, so it was no mistake to let him go.

I have to say... Ole seemed to improve the mood around the club at first but I'm not sure that's the case now. Things have seemed worse than ever this year.
