If not Solskjaer, then who?

Interesting that they call it an interim appointment you wonder if they’ve got something lined up for the summer.

I had Carrick at 66's and McKenna at 33's yesterday to be next manager. Carrick needs 10 games for it to count.

We're looking for an interim manager! FFS.

It's amazing how much this club manages to disappoint me these days

I guess it will be that geezer in Russia I've never heard of

Carrick should only really get the Villareal game the interim has to be in place by Chelsea and it cannot be someone from within given the mess we are in it has to be an outsider.

God knows who.

Well it’s going to be someone who is out of work.

I’d be massively surprised if they went for someone currently in a job as an interim.

Didn’t we get Ole on loan from Molde or have I made that up?

It’s obviously not easy to get someone in mid season who is already in a job, although not impossible. I think an interim until the end of the season is probably the right call. Carrick for a game or two then someone in after then.

Sure Blanc will come up again in conversation. Wouldn’t be the worst choice as an interim - although I think he is in a job somewhere in the Middle East.

I suppose that is all they can do. Maybe it is just because I have a downer on the club at the moment, but I feel the club must have known a few weeks ago that this was a possibility and should have been putting feelers out then.

I actually think Zidane may be the ideal man until the end of the season. Not long term and I'm sure he wouldn't accept a job until the end of the season but I think he'd be a great shout.

We should be able to attract pretty much any manager. I don't see the point in an interim.
I don't think the man they want will come until the summer. And if they don't get CL then I'm not sure they'll even get their guy at that point.

We may not be in good times at the moment but our club, our history etc still hold a lot of weight in the footballing world. I don’t think we need to get Champions League to attract the man we want.

If Tuchel, Pep, Klopp etc were to leave their clubs tomorrow and we offered them a chance to manage here, I have no doubts they would all take it. Obviously it’s tough when managers are already at their clubs and they are happy and settled.

I think it would be wrong to give the job until the end of the season to someone internally. Unless Ole flat out ignored all opinions from his coaching staff, I can’t imagine Carrick alone will magically turn this season around. There might be the old new manager feel that could spring us to life but we need new ideas brought into the club.

The biggest worry is if you imagine the current lot were in charge of the club in 1986 would they have had the vision to hire Alex Ferguson?

I don't get this end of season nonsense, do you want the job or not. If the person wants to wait then he's not the right guy

Just watched it all. What a man. A legend of our club. And hopefully he's right.

The lack of planning in the club is unbelievable really. I can't imagine any business any where else is the world, with their sort of turnover, would not have plans for every eventuality.

They are basically going to stumble to the end of the season, probably miss out on CL now and then hope to convince a manager and players to come who are yet unidentified.

And awful for us as fans, nothig really to hope for, dead season

Spot on!

I mean let's just think about this right now... They are very likely going to end up having 4 managers in 6-7 months. Ole, Carrick, the interim and then the long term option.

And what if the interim does a decent job? What if they win the CL or something? Would they then change their approach? And who can they even get to take the job on an interim basis?

I reckon it could be Carrick for the rest of the season if results stabilise a bit hard to really see who they can get as an interim as it would have to be a guy who's out of work who's got plenty of experience. Again though why him over Phelan a man who's actually got some management experience?

There seems to be some noise that Poch would like to get out of PSG and take the Utd job straight away if that can be done then get it done.

What annoys me is say we lost 2-1 at Watford would he have been sacked? What if we drew 2-2 or even won 3-2? Second half up until the red card a come back looked on. Would we just gloss over the fact that once again Utd's had their pants pulled down by a pretty poor side for 45 minutes and had to try and mount another comeback?

By not sacking him after City they've now potentially lost another 3 points in the league and are sending in a guy who's never managed a team before into a key european match. This will be where you really see the metal of our players they need to turn up against Villareal and make sure they don't let Carrick suffer a humiliation as that Villareal side are a decent side far better than Watford.

When Mourinho was on his last legs they were lining up Ole he was in place within a few days of Mourinho's sacking as the interim surely we have done the same this time? If it wasn't Watford that battered us it would have been Villareal or Chelsea.

If Poch really wants teh job, the he shoudl leave now and take it, not say he wants to wait. Because waiting 8 months to appont someone could put the club back years.

ZZ is waiting for the France job/PSG, but I also understand he doesn't want to take a prem job until he can speak English, which he is studying.

If their choice is Poch or ten Hag we should be able to get either of those now, granted it will cost money. Don't take your payouts this year!

It probably will be but their statement seemed to suggest that they are looking for an interim guy right? But I mean I don't know why they think putting Carrick in temporary charge will see much change. He's a part of the problem if I'm being honest. Ole has paid with his job but the lot of them should have gone.

Nailed on to be other Pochettino or Ten Hag I reckon. I think at PSG at the moment it’s Champions League win or the sack - no where in between. If we offered him the job today he would take it without a doubt. However, like has been said sure it would be done at the end of the season.

Ten Hag has always been an interesting choice and one I would be on board with.

Just please please board, if Carrick wins the next 5 games do not give him the job full time! I feel like we are stupid enough to do that at the moment!

Talk that Woodward's departure will be delayed.
Why does this muppet thing he needs to stay to help the club find a successor. Or does he miss the point that he's been fing useless and he's picked the last 3 managers who they've sacked.

You can't just resign in football though he'll need to get PSG to accept his resignation which they might do more likely they'll try to get Utd to buy him out of his contract early.

I dunno if Zidane is waiting for PSG he lives in Madrid with his family and has no links to PSG the majority of reporting seems to be he wants the France job after Deschamps. He must look at that PSG squad and think why would you want to work with this bunch of knobheads.

Lets be honest if there's one things that is certain our owners will be paying themselves a dividend this year as they do every year when they did a call with the fans forum they basically said that wasn't even up for debate.

At this stage I'd probably question why any top manager would want to work at Utd the only thing I can see that would appeal is you don't have to work under a sporting director you have quite a bit of autonomy but equally you seem to have very little help around you.

Yeah Carrick is the caretaker while they look to appoint a new manager the statement certainly suggested they are looking at interim appointments rather than permanent appointments.

I just don't really get how the "interim" list can't already have been drawn up just in case we lost to Watford maybe it's to quick a turnaround to get him in for Villareal but surely the new guy needs to be in place before Chelsea?

I'm always reluctant to say to much about coaches we as fans don't know what they do the manager takes overall responsibility they're his tactics so they can only coach what they are being told to do and I would imagine the manager these days will take the heavily tactical sessions himself.

As I said it really starts at the very top until that's sorted we'll probably go around in the same old circles getting the same old results.
