With Manchester United taking on West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday, who better to ask for their thoughts and feelings on the forthcoming season than the author of West Ham ‘Till I Die.

Stretford End Arising:What are your thoughts on David Gold & David Sullivan, Gianfranco Zola and Avram Grant?
West Ham Till I Die: I wanted Zola to stay. He was never given the chance to form his own team. Most of the players were inherited. I wasn’t keen on Grant’s appointment, but am happy to give him a chance! As for Gold and Sullivan, no one can say they haven’t thrown themselves into the job, but I wish they’d stay out of the media and keep their gobs shut.
SEA: Would you prefer West Ham to remain at Upton Park or move to the Olympic Stadium?
WHTID: I’d love to stay at Upton Park but it isn’t practical if we want to progress. The Olympic Stadium makes total sense.
SEA: After avoiding relegation last season, what are expectations for the 2010/11 season?
WHTID: We’d happily settle for mid table mediocrity after last season! Despite our poor start I don’t think we will be involved in a relegation battle.
SEA: Avram Grant and West Ham have been relatively busy in the transfer market compared to other
clubs. Are you excited by new signings Barrera, Hitzlsperger, Piquionne?
WHTID: Barerra looked quality against Bolton, as did Piquionne. It’s a shame Hitzlsperger got injured playing for Germany as I am told he looked brilliant pre season.
SEA: Scott Parker and Carlton Cole – are they likely to be West Ham players come 1st September 2010?
WHTID: Now that is the question! I have a hunch Harry Redknapp has turned Parker’s head. As for Carlton Cole, if someone is fool enough to pay £12 million for him, I’d say bye bye Carlton. He can be an awesome player on his day, but those days do not happen regularly enough.
SEA: West Ham is renowned for having an excellent youth set up – several current Premier League players have been developed at West Ham under the tuition of Tony Carr. Which young Hammers are worth keeping an eye on?
WHTID: There are almost too many to mention. Jack Collison is the pick of the bunch but Junior Stanislas, Zavon Hines, Robert Hall and Cristiano Montano are ones who have already caught the eye.
SEA: What do you consider to be the best West Ham v Manchester United match?
WHTID: The best one I have seen was at Old Trafford when we won 1-0 with a Jermain Defoe goal. I think it was in 2001. It was one of the best days of my life. I don’t go to many games but came up to Old Trafford with three mates. It was a perfect day. I have vowed never to return to Old Trafford as no day will ever be better than that one.
SEA: If you could choose one current Manchester United player to play for West Ham, who would it be?
WHTID: Rio. We still love him.
SEA: What are your thoughts on Saturday’s game? Who are the potential danger man/men United should be wary of?
WHTID: We will get tonked. Everyone fears a 6-0. The midfield is key. If Parker and Noble can dominate we might have a chance, but I’m not betting my mortgage on it.
SEA: Thank you very much, Iain. Good luck for the season ahead.
