Manchester United’s Matty James and Josh King started the first game of the month live in front of the BBC cameras – the Lancashire derby against local neighbours Burnley. The game was fierce with challenges flying in. Fergie Jnr switched to a 4-5-1 formation with King on the right and James in the centre of midfield. Unfortunately both went off in the first half after being on the end of two crushing tackles. Preston were in control when both were on the field and if they had stayed on inevitably Preston would have won the game.
Josh has a recurrence of a problem to his leg whilst Matty has an ankle injury. It was thought that James would be out for a month and King for six weeks but with the international break coming up both should be back in mid-October after the break.
Fergie Jnr unsurprisingly takes a lot of stick from opposing fans. As you may have judged by our results (the game against Leeds included) we appear clueless at defending but now look like a side who plays good attacking passing football through good wing and forward play. Attack does seem to be our only option but it makes for an entertaining season.
