Gambit’s Corner: Ravel Morrison

Ravel Morrison happens to be one of the most naturally gifted players ever to come through the academy at Manchester United. Ravel’s skills bring to mind Cristiano Ronaldo, as he’s known to produce sublime moments of magic suddenly from nothing. He is capable of playing down either wing, as a striker or as an attacking midfielder behind the striker. He has pace to burn and is known to have a party trick.

Morrison is currently only 17 years old, he has already signed professional forms and is currently playing for the reserve side. Ravel has apparently had some troubles in his past, which he seems to have solved. The start of the 2010-11 season has so far seen a more mature and responsible Ravel. He seems to have developed physically over the summer as well.

Morrison has been prolific so far in the pre-season and has become a regular fixture in the reserve team – very impressive for someone so young, clearly showing how highly he is rated within the club. His performances during pre-season have been excellent – if he is able to maintain this form, a call up to the seniors won’t be entirely unexpected. Morrison might be a key player for England too in the coming years, being tipped by some to make the squad for the 2014 World Cup!

Morrison is almost sure to make his debut for the first team in the near future, he’s considered one of the best talents to emerge from England; he’s also been labelled the English Ronaldo. The future seems excellent for the youth from Wythenshawe, it seems only a matter of time before he emerges to become another one of the many superstars who have come through the Manchester United academy.

  1. From what i have heard, the problem with him is more his temperament than his skills.

From what I’ve heard he’s very good, although having seen his Faceook page I will say he needs to learn how to write as from the way he types he doesnt seem the brightest.

Many players do stupid stuff at a young age. Some players still do it. People make mistakes.

  4. I went to the recent game vs Oxford Utd. Was generally a little disappointed with our performance but Morrison showed some flashes (in the 1st half at least) of talent – great acceleration and ability to beat a man but held on to the ball too long on a few occasions and didn’t pick the right final ball. Hope he kicks on.

  5. I have high hopes for this kid.. temperament doesnt necessarily have to be a bad thing though, or what lads?

    Hello Sprite, welcome.

Sort of agree. Hopefully, Fergie remains manager long enough to have a positive influence of Morrison. Still young though, many of us have done daft stuff when we’re young. If indeed Ravel has.

  7. I am seriously think Paul Pogba will make the 1st team before Ravel does although they both are good and are the same age!

    Hello Stan, welcome.

Really excited by Pogba’s potential. Looking forward to see how he performs in reserves this season.
