Well I did want to start a thread about this but can’t so shall have to post it here.
Fergie- over the last few months he seems to have come out the shadows and is more prominent both visually and verbally. You could even say Involved!
Is he just enthused by EtH appointment and performance and showing his approval and sharing the upbeat mood we are all finding? Or was he asked and/or invited to be more prominent.
EtH seems very comfortable with it, pleased even, and seems to be referencing him a lot,and we have seen the reports of them dining together.
Wonder what is behind it all?

I would say he's having zero influence over the squad, he will keep his distance as he always has since he's retired.

What is good is that ETH clearly isn't phased by having him around but I doubt Fergie ever visits the training ground or goes anywhere near the dressing room on matchdays he will respect that boundary.

I would say where things might be slightly different is at board level I think Arnold is willing to allow Fergie and Gill to have a bit more input in decision making than Woodward ever did.

I have never said or even suggested that Fergie is having any influence over the squad.
Some smart ass appears to have created a thread on my behalf and decided that was what I was saying and accredited such saying to me!

For me, I don't see any difference than with the other managers, apart from maybe LVG.

what did you mean by involved then?
Well it could be he influences EtH. EtH himself has suggested more than once he takes council with him and values their chats.
We are definitely seeing and hearing Fergie more in recent times than we ever have since he retired.

Fergie has always been to most United matches, I wouldn’t say he’s been any more visible this year than others.

Seen but not heard is how Fergie works these days at Utd and it's the way it should be certainly in public. Also, he's only seen because the camera constantly pans to him in the directors box. It has always done during his time at Utd apart from when he was recovering after his health scare a few years back he is a constant fixture at Utd he rarely misses a game. It would be more of a story if suddenly he stopped going to the games.

I haven't heard one word from Fergie about Utd in a very long time he knows to keep quiet as any comment from him will be twisted a million different ways to suit a million different arguments.

I honestly think he has very little influence over the club these days and I don't think he wants to have much influence he just wants to go to the games and watch a decent match

Fergie gave an interview on United this week.

Said we need to sign a new striker to ease the burden on Rashford.

did he, or did he just say we need another source for goals?

Correct, then there is the lunches worth EtH, and the increase in EtH referencing Fergie and suggestions he takes council with him from time to time. And it is a definite fact that Fergie has become more seen, heard and referenced in recent months.
It has stood out to me.

Regardless of the wording, he has spoken out on the requirement for the squad to be strengthened in a key area. It could be read he done so to support EtH who may be dealing with others of differing opinion.

or he wants other players to start scoring.

I thi too much is being read into it. He is no more or less around.

Jose spoke about him all the time, so did Ole, Ole had him in the changing room and I think even at training.

Yeah Mourinho also has him around Carrington in his time here. Also went out for lunch with him. I do think a lot is being read into SAF’s supposed influence around the club.

By association he always has an influence at the club but think it’s purely as a fan these days and nothing more. He’s just enjoying his retirement with football and food.

Since he retired he has never given an interview like that before. I think he has developed a relationship with EtH. Fergie told him he was proud of him and what he was doing at the club, and EtH is proud that Fergie is proud of him. EtH talks of the need to make Fergie proud. There is a lot of proudness going on :)
I'm welling up now

i have just seen the interview and until today I had no idea it even happened.

He gives all praise to Ten Hag over HIS signings, sir Alex makes no suggestion that he has influence.

He is asked about Rashford and he gives a totally reasonable response.

Ten Hag is the real deal he might be happy to enjoy a meal with Fergie but he will never let him influence him. the same way Fergie didn’t let Busby influence him, he’s his own man. Fergie is smart enough to know to stay out of the way.

As stated, he gave the interview. He has never done that before.

I bet you a pound to a penny EtH and Fergie are into their second bottle of Blossom Hill ;)
Bruno's absconded back to Portugal and EtH has an early morning flight :D
