Premier League 2022/23: Man Utd vs Arsenal ~ Sun 4th Sep 4.30pm KO

Oh just been told Hamstring for Rashford. Groin for Martinez and Martial wasn't on the bench. Assumed he was with where he's sitting.

Ah ok, radio said Martinez cramp and rashford was holding his hamstring

@IDFD Eriksen has been named MOTM.

Yeah. He was midweek too. As I said he'll continuously get overhyped because of his return from death.

He was a liability for 20 mins in the second half but found a second wind. Has been very good but motm was Bruno or McT. McT had to be a 1 man midfield for 20 minutes.

Part of Neville's reasoning for giving him motm was I didn't think he'd be able to do 90 minutes.

The radio was talking first half martial was in winter wear. Like not even in squad.

It's why I really like the United influence thing in the app. It's solely based on stats and takes opinions out of it.

They've got Eriksen 7th.

2pts off City and 3pts off the top. Now I didn’t envisage that when we were being humbled by Brentford!

I'm surprised there is a downer on Eriksen, radio say he's really helped Bruno, they link up really well

Eriksen was absolute class. He influences games with his passing and he did that today.

Eriksen was absolute class. He influences games with his passing and he did that today.

I fully agree he can influence games with his passing. But he had a 20 minute lull in the second half that could have cost us.

He isn't a central midfielder. McT was left there alone and Eriksen couldn't keep up with the pace of Arsenal. We can ignore it but it's going to hurt us.

Off the ball he's a liability.

But he wasn't the only player that had a lull in the game.

The combination of Bruno and Eriksen is looking good.

But he wasn't the only player that had a lull in the game.

He was the main culprit. They were walking through us because he offered nothing defensively which put pressure on us. McT at the time was a one man midfield.

Tbh I also thought we saw the difference between an inexperienced manager and a top manager. One threw players on and completely lost their shape whilst the other tightened his defence but kept an attacking threat. Felt ETH deserves credit

I get wanting to ignore the issues because we won. But it could have cost us the game.

He played very well in spells but he can't do it for 90 minutes. If he's going to play, play him in his position and remove the defensive duties that he can't do.

I think Arteta learnt you don't give Bruno that much space to play a ball in to.

Honestly don't know what to make of that. On one hand it reminded me of the good ol' days when they would have all of the ball, play all of the sexy footballs and we'd smash a few in and take the 3 points.

There was no way I saw 3-1 us after they scored, but somehow we managed to hit them on the break twice. Rashford has 3 goals against Liverpool and Arsenal now, which is a great sign. First half, not such a great sign, and hopefully his sub was precautionary. Martinez cannot be injured because as soon as Captain Oaf came on, the drop in class showed instantly. Clumsy and all over the place.

Great debut from Antony and a beautiful finish with his left foot for the goal. I think I might be in love!

Was that a solid defensive performance indicative of a resilience and strength that has been shockingly absent in the last few years, or did we scrape another win? Ole ball MKII or ETH implementing his style slowly? Over the moon with the result, just not sure what to make of the performance.

I'm not going in as hard as you on Eriksen, but despite the pundits raving about his performance, this is what I felt during the match as well. On the ball, and given time and space, he can pull the strings as he did for two of the goals, but we've seen him targeted a few times and he can give the ball away in dangerous positions and become a defensive liability.

Eth asked by sky how has a changed the team since Brentford....getting them on that 14k run probably helped...hes an impressive man that's for sure

I agree in the sense that every time arsenal came forward there was no midfield blocker and mctom seemed to drift back into a back 6...I would like to see a better balance there...but buzzing with the win

Glad someone else sees it and isn't just but he played a few nice passes. It's central midfield for crying out loud you can't switch off for 20 minutes or carry a passenger.

Oh don’t get me wrong he wasn’t perfect and I’m blinded to his deficiencies on the defensive side of his game - but what he did do in an attacking sense influenced the game. There wasn’t another player on the pitch that could of played the pass to Bruno for the first goal with such precision.

He’s not made for a midfield two and he is definitely out of position - but he’s not doing an awful job by any means. He needs legs around him and that’s why a midfield two of Casemiro and Eriksen will definitely not work.

On another point, Arteta screwed that game for his team. He went absolute hell for leather at 2-1 with three attacking subs. It left wide gaps in their back line and totally stunted their shape.

I like it from Arteta. May as well lose by 2 and go for it than lose 2-1.

Neville still adament it's not a foul along with Hasselbaink. I don't think we turn the game around having gone 1-0 down and escaped with one today.

As Neville said it should be judged in real speed not slowed down.

How is Uniteds XG 1.35? Rashford scored an open goal. And we scored 2 one on ones.

That's made a mockery of that stat.

I get the thinking behind the subs but they were creating opportunities at will even at 2-1 down. Just seemed like using three subs for the sake of using them.

So the longest winning streak in the league belongs to United. 4 in a row. Rich isn't going to know what to think!

If Martinez is injured, I think lindelof would be a better option

Re the subs, I'll look later, certainly arsenal seemed in the ascending after HT. I feel like 3-1 might not tell the tale

But who cares, were doing alright and the team spirit seems to have changed.

Lindelof would be the same Lindelof we all know.

If Jones is fit I'd actually be tempted to see what he would be like alongside Varane marshalling him. The closest defender we have to Martinez.

I did read his spot at Carrington had been given to someone else...

Jones??...did I miss the first of April?
