Atleast they getting linked with lot of good players to replace Rudiger and Christensen. They also got Sterling and avoided Neymar.

Never been over impressed with Kimpembe, and if Chelsea are intending on using Koulibaly on the right of a three they will soon realise he is nowhere near as good on that side as he is on the left. Great passer with either foot over distance though.

They are welcome to Sterling, never seen what all the fuss is about.

Conor Gallagher took what is probably the worst penalty you will ever see last night

Sounds like the Kimpembe stuff is off he doesn't want to leave PSG and they missed out on De Ligt to Bayern.

Rumours are they are in advanced talks for Kounde although there are suggestions the player prefers a move to Barca.

Think Kounde would be perfect for their back 3 system as he's played at full back as well so he'd be happy going out into wide areas to defend.

If they get Kounde and Koulibaly to replace Rudiger and Christensen I'd say they should be pretty happy with that.

Just seen that one.

Forgot the whole dummy bit that moves the keeper didn't he.

Anyway that's him out of the world cup squad can't be having that sort of behaviour in the squad.

Kounde is only 5'9", don't think any top club in England would buy a CB so vertically challenged.

This argument has to stop. Kounde is fine at 5'9. It is timing that is most important in a jump.

Why? He and Martinez may cope well with defensive headers from dead-ball situations and in open play, i'm sure they will, but when they are exposed static on the halfway line their lack of inches will be telling and the opponents will target them.

They can mark each other on corners... simple.

I don't think height matters that much, if you're good enough.

Puyol was 5,10, Baresi and Cannavaro both 5,9 I'd would have had all of those.

There's plenty of small CB's with good pedigree in football. Just like there are plenty of tall crap ones.

Think like it or not English football requires you to be good in the air even Pep's side are fantastic on set pieces they are such a huge part of the game in England. Sadly they've been an area of the pitch where Utd have been poor at both ends for years a combination of rubbish delivery and players who just don't attack the ball with aggression regardless of their size.

5ft 9 doesn't make you bad in the air if you are excellent at reading the flight of the ball and timing your jump a small guy can easily dominate a bigger guy in the air. Problem comes when you make a mistake on reading the ball or timing you don't have that extra luxury of height that could get you out of trouble. Same way a slow centre back can't recover if he's caught out of position he only needs to get it wrong once and he's screwed.

Being low to the ground also makes you hard to push around and you can use your size to your advantage against bigger opponents.

Wasting your time JC, they just don't want to see it cos it would mean accepting that they hadn't though of that when defending dwarf CB's

Got battered 4-0 by Arsenal the other night and doesn't sound like Tuchel is happy with the attitude of his players so far in pre season.

Now there's rumours Barca are going to nab Kounde ahead of them.

I know it's only pre season but they fizzled out at the end of last season and it doesn't feel like they've solved that problem and are ready to hit the ground running this season.

Let's hope they implode so we can get Reece James outta there, with him and Ethan Laird we'd be sorted at RB for a decade.

And if he could bring his sister back even better, if, if she can get herself fit she could be a superstar.

Chelsea are now being linked with Leicester defender Wesley Fofana having missed out on Kounde.

He's got 5 years on his contract so Leicester will be after a Maguire level fee to sell him as he's seen as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Chelsea now being linked to Cucurella from Brighton.

Seems a strange target for them when they've got Chilwell coming back and still have Alonso.

Sounds like the pre season line ups hint that Tuchel is going to switch to a back 4 this season as well so signing a guy who's excelled as a wing back would be strange.

Chelsea close to nicking Cucurella from under City's nose, probably agent talk trying to gee along city

Chelsea are having a strange window their name seems to be all over players who want to sign for other clubs.

Can't get my head around why they'd spend 50m on another left back when they've just got their 50m left back fit again.

Chelsea stockpiling at Youth level again. They've been snapping up English u15/u16/u17/u18 players all Summer, and now it looks as though they've signed Chukwuemeka from Villa for £20m.

Bad news for Ben Chilwell had rotten luck with injury.

Guess this means Alonso is off been linked with a move to Barcelona all summer.

Can’t get my head around that signing he’s a really good player just not sure they need him

£40m+ profit for Brighton in a year. Must be laughing all the way to the bank!

Chelsea’s transfers are a little curious. They already have £50m Chilwell at left back and now spend another £50m. It would make sense if they were still going to be playing a back three but from reports Tuchel looks to be moving away from that.

The new owners are definitely flexing their financial muscle but not sure they have really improved their squad.

Was listening to a chelsea reporter this morning he's basically said the way Chelsea are working this summer is as soon as they hear players are on the market Chelsea are calling the agent to find out the terms. how much he will likely cost and what wages he wants etc. A lot of the time there's no follow up call it's almost like they are making an enquiry about everyone who might be available then they go away and decide who they actually go for.

We've seen in the last decade the key to success isn't to spend money it is to spend money well and from the outside looking in you'd say Chelsea current spending looks confused.

Good news for them is Azpilecueta is staying handy squad player to have can play right back and centre back.

Still talk Alonso is off to Barcelona but selling him for around 10m and replacing him with a 50m full back seems very odd maybe they don't think Chilwell is going to be back to his best next season.

Apparently Tuchel is abandoning the move to 4 at the back after the Arsenal game and Cucurella can play LCB.

Don't think he's a Tuchel signing.

"there may be trouble ahead"

And it couldn't happen to a nicer club!

Trying to go 4 at the back is what did for Lampard it just didn't work they didn't have 2 centre backs that could play in a two it's why as soon as Tuchel came back they went straight back to the back 3.

Seems a strange place to use him he was such an attacking outlet for Brighton last season.

If Azpilecueta is staying I'd have guessed he'd be right CB, Thiago Silva in the middle and Koulibaly will have to try and go on the left of the 3.
