La Liga have been pretty clear to them they have to sell they didn’t back down last summer and it cost the league Messi which could hurt everyone in terms of the TV deal values.

Doubt many clubs in Spain can afford their players wages. Loans are no good to them they need big transfer fees from sales that they can book on the accounts.

Maybe i've read it wrong, but I thought with the players only being paid twice yearly as opposed to monthly(which is key) it was more about getting wages off the books than getting transfer money in. Obvious getting money in(from transfers) helps ....

To be honest when people start talking about Accounting I tend to zone out.

It is a bit of both Barca have a spending limit which is calculated by La Liga based on your football generated income it doesn’t allow for outside investors pumping cash in. So from an FFP point of view selling off their future TV rights doesn’t help them. To register new players you have to demonstrate to the league that you are within your budget.

As things stand Barca have been told they need reduce last season’s budget by over €100m before they can register any new players. Someone worked it out that to spend €1 they need to demonstrate to La Liga they have saved €4.

So yes getting players off the wage bill helps because that is helping bring down your budget for next season but to really make a difference they need the transfer fees as the new signings wages will need to be added back into the spend for this season.

The way it works is when you sell a player you can book all of the guaranteed money from the sale (no add ons) straight away even if the buying club will be paying that fee over a number of instalments. When Barca sign players they split the transfer fees over the length of the contract. So Rafina for 55m on a 5 year deal only puts 11m on the books next season.

By doing all these deals if they don’t sell De Jong they are screwed which is why he’s trying to force them to pay his deferred wages even if contractually they are not yet do.

Thanks jsp, the mud is clearing.

We should lower the fee for De Jong and screw them over. They should learn to cash in before buying.

The reports seem to be that we upped it so they had the ability to pay De Jong some of the money he is owed.

If this deal goes through Barca owe us one as we are digging them out of a massive hole.

Does feel like at some point they might want to sign some defenders.

Sounds like they're trying to sell Memphis but he doesn't want to leave.

Surely Aubameyang can't be to happy about them signing Lewendowski 6 months after he arrived.

50m euro for Lewendowski at 33 and had to give him a 4 year deal which is heavily loaded on the back end according to reports.

I look forward to summer 2024 when they're trying to force him out the door like they are with current players.... see you in 2 years Robert!

That is crazy price.
They also spent almost the same for Raphinia and they have Dembele, Kessié and Christiensen on free but with sign on fee.
All of this while being in huge debt and salary cap problem. They still have to pay Griezmann for example. Even if they sell us FDJ, i can't believe they will be ok for la Liga rules.

The absolute state of Barcelona as a football club - would be real karma if they did go out of business at some point.

Throwing money around like it’s no tomorrow but cannot pay their current players. It’s easy to say sat on a football forum but if I was a player I would avoid them like the plague.

I think selling De Jong and Memphis added to the sale of Coutinho probably gets them within the La Liga limits to register the players they've already signed. Because of the way they do the accounts all the transfer fees in get added to this years budget whereas transfer fees out are spread over the contract length. So roughly speaking they're getting £100m in from sales but so far they've only spent £20m for rafinha and Lewendowski next season.

Part of the reason they will have given Lewendowski a 4 year deal is to make the numbers work for the FFP rules.

Getting those 3 off the wage bill also creates a decent amount of space for the new signings. La Liga rules currently mean Barca can spend 1 euro of every 3 that comes in so if they get £100m in from sales they can spend £33m of it.

The Griezmann one is a potential problem next summer if Atletico don't activate the clause to buy him in that 2 year loan deal.

Does mean that to get more players they need to start getting creative one way clubs do that is with loan to buy deals. Barca could try and structure a deal where they take Kounde on loan with an obligation to buy next summer. This means on the books this season he's free which is great for them but it's not great for Sevilla who might need that money this summer to fund their spending.

I can sort of see what they're trying to do winning doesn't really matter at Barcelona they just need to be competitive and without Messi they need some star power to attract the sponsors as without Messi they are likely bricking it that sponsors will either want lower prices to renew or will walk away.

Like you said, what is the point for Sevilla ?
They will lose a top defender and can't get the money to replace him this summer ?
I believe there spending is over because no one want Menphis. They will just sell FDJ and that is over for them.

Well normally there's a sweetener to the deal later on so Barca could agree to pay more next summer by deferring the payment for 1 year. It depends on how much room Sevilla have if they don't need the money in this years assessment then waiting 12 months to get more down the line could benefit them. So for example say they agree 60m for him Barca could say make it a loan deal with obligation to buy we'll pay a 10m loan fee then have an obligation to buy for 55m next summer which means Sevilla get 65m in total.

Realistically they know they aren't going to compete for the title with Barcelona their fight is really with the teams who are trying to take 4th spot from them.

I think quite a few clubs would be interested in Memphis but bit like De Jong it'll be convincing him to go to these clubs and he probably backs himself to get game time because he's been a good player for Barca since going there.

Well, we will see, but if i was Sevilla i will say no. They wanted 70 or 80 m € the year before, when Chelsea wanted him.
Some clubs may want Memphis, but Memphis don't want them. He will see them as a step down. He already did this kind of move after United. He will never come back to a Big club if he go now.

Reports in Spain are they've sold another chunk of the TV rights last night this time 15% went for 315m euro.

So all in they've raised 522m euros by selling off 25% of their TV income for the next 25 years. Over 25 years at current prices this is worth 1bn euros so the people buying it look likely to double their money over 25 years.

This basically keeps the debt collectors from kicking the door in and taking everything but to do that they've had to make a big sacrifice.

What this basically means is for the next 25 years Real Madrid will receive higher TV revenue than Barcelona meaning Barcelona will always be starting behind the competition.

At this point I'd actually prefer De Jong to stay and really screw them over just for the lol's

They must have some ace up their sleeve to get these numbers to stack up.

Signed Kounde from Sevilla.

Another they cannot register for now.
Unbelievable.
They can't sort out the FDJ transfer but they keep adding and adding.
I want De Jong but god, it will be funny if he stay and they can't registrer there news players. Anyway, take note United, Barça got half a team of new players in one Window. This prove that can be done if you really want to win something.

Yeah but they're in the CL and they've got beaches innit?

Dembele is definetly a superstar.
He has everything in his locker

That's his problem, ever since Barca signed him and made him one of the best paid players on the planet what he has stays in the locker, and when he tries to get it out of the locker he gets injured doing so.

But since Xavi came he is unplayable and that continue in this preseason.

Lets see how he does this season we all know he turned it on for the last 6 months of his contract now we will see was that a flash in the pan or is this something that he can sustain as no one has ever questioned the ability this kid has.

They're giving us a good run for our money for the title of Shambles FC this summer but for very different reasons.

The league have rejected their attempt to register all of the new signings and Dembele (new contract means technically a new signing) for the first game of the season. They are of course obliged to pay all these players contracts even if they can't play in these games.

So now they're talking about pulling a 4th lever which is selling off another chunk of their in house media company to try and raise some more revenue.

They're threatening 4 of their current players with potential legal action over the deferred wages contracts they signed claiming they have evidence that they have evidence of criminal behaviour by some of the people involved in arranging those deals.

Pique being asked to take another pay cut to try and help register players. I mean at what point does he turn around to Laporta and tell him to stop buying players and expecting him to pay for them out of his pocket.

They've gone for the "if we build it they will come" approach to rebuilding their revenues if you want high attendances and big sponsorship deals you need to have a great team. A risky gamble but I can see the logic in it especially when as president of the club it doesn't really matter if it goes wrong as it's not your money on the line you just pass the problem on to the next guy.

Christensen has removed the Barcelona post from his Instagram and reverted back to his Chelsea profile picture. This amidst reports that Kessie and Christensen have been told that they will have to leave on a free if they can't be registered.

If true, we should be all over Kessie like a rash!

Tell Barca to go to hell over FDJ and get in one of their freebies!

Lol.
Barca are getting ridiculious now.
They must sell more asset if FDJ doesn't want to go.
That is there only option.

'Barca expected to register new signings after raising £85m'

Apparently they have raised enough to register some of their new signings, but I don't think have enough to register all of them.

I just seen the highligth and i have seen Lewandovski, Dembele, Raphinia and Kessie. Maybe there is still a problem for Kounde and Christiansen but they look like they will keep FDJ.

From the looks of it they’re trying to sell

Dest - Utd linked as he’s former Ajax but he’s been a flop for them.
Aubameyang - Chelsea seem keen and need a striker
De Jong - Doesn’t want to leave.
Memphis - bit like De Jong he doesn’t really want to leave

Obviously we don’t know how much they need to raise from sales

Where is he off too?

Surely he wants to play champions league football.

He has been unlucky at Barca he actually did a pretty good job when he came in.
