For a club who are skint they don't half seem to be busy getting linked to players this summer.

They've signed Kessie and Christensen on free transfers but as things stand they cannot register them with La Liga for games due to the strict FFP rules. To do that they need to sell players which as we know is Frenkie De Jong. They are also trying to sell Memphis and are desperate to get Lenglet and Umtiti out the door as well. Even talk that they'd like to move Aubameyang on too.

They are currently trying to agree a new contract with Dembele with the player taking a 40% pay cut from his current salary.

In terms of incomings they are reportedly trying to sign Raphinha, Lewendowski, Marcos Alonso and Bernando Silva.

They have been able to secure some short term finance by selling off future TV rights but really that money is there to help pay down their ridiculous debts rather than boost their transfer kitty.

look likes they’ll be resigning Ousmane Dembele on a 2 year deal with the player taking a hefty pay cut.

Strange one considering they've been offering him to any club of note for 18 months, on the reduction they have probably worked on his conscious as he's a play one be injured for 4 type of guy and for the player he ain't getting that amount anywhere else however talented he is.

Think they’ve been desperate to get him off the wage bill as he was on crazy money but Xavi seems to have been getting the best from him and they saw signs of the maturity that was needed from him.

If he does well and they sort of their finances in 12 months he will be back in for a new deal and he’s probably thinking at that point he can drive the salary back up.

He's a funny one, if you saw a youtube video of what he can do you'd say pay him a million a month, pay him what he wants, but ....

he cracks the mental side of the game he will be a superstar but sounds like he’s struggled with the 24/7 discipline it takes to make the most of that talent he has.

Xavi seems to be getting through to him though.

Since Xavi as come, he is unplayable. He got the most final pass in a half Season. He just need to stay fit and he is a superstar. The Guy got married recently, that must have helped his discipline.

I used to call it the Mark Viduka.

Be very wary of any player who suddenly discovers their best for in the last 6 months of a contract.

About to buy Raphinha for £55m but cannot pay their current players what they are owed. Absolutely rotten club.

Still don't think they'll be able to register him to play in La Liga though.

They want him to replace Dembele. If he resign that block Raphinia.

Well they've announced that Dembele has agreed a new 2 year deal on reduced wages and they've also announced a deal with Raphina.

New 2 year contract confirmed with Ousmane Dembele official announcement made.

Not sure they can even register him because it counts as a new contract rather than a renewal under La Liga rules.

Be good to see him get his career back on track 4 years ago this lad was as big a talent as Mbappe he looked like he was going to be a superstar but since leaving Dortmund it has all gone to pot and he needs to get it going again.

Since Xavi came, he was in form. He has the best stats for a half Season out of every wingers in the World. The Guy is a superstar. I Can wait to see him back in my national team. Front 3 of Mbappe, Benzema, Dembele Can fire the team to another World cup.

Well football should be judged over seasons not 6 months you can't dick about for 4.5 years then turn up for 6 months when the pressure is essentially off and you are playing for a contract. Lets see if he can carry that on through next season because we've now seen that he can do it so there are no excuses anymore.

Had a quick look last season he made 32 appearences scored 2 goals and got 13 assists across the whole season compare that to Son, 45 games 24 goals, 10 assists or Salah 51 games 31 goals and 16 assists.

I agree the talent this lad has was frightening but that was a long time ago so he needs to show he can play like he did for 6 months over a whole season.

The stats of Dembele is for an half season only and that doesn't include the amount of chance created. Many of his chance has not been converted into goal. Anyway for an half Season he was assisting almost every games he started. And that include game against Real when he raped there LB at madrid. Granted, he needs to show it for a full season but the talent is there.

Well I don't have the ability to half the stats of Son but I'd be amazed if he's got a better scoring/assist record than Son in the second half of last season because Son was on fire.

Only looking at half a season or calendar year to me is just massaging stats to find an answer that suits an argument you should judge players over the whole season to get a fair reflection of how they did.

Dembele may have been able to rip it up in the second half of the season because unlike everyone else he was fresh as he'd barely played so he was just taking liberties against knackered players.

Plenty of players have the talent and never make it to be at the top for a long time you need to be able to crack the mental side of the game and deliver week after week, season after season. The jury is still out on Dembele being able to do that.

We've seen it with Martial 6 months of good form doesn't mean it'll last forever but both players maybe have a door to a world cup squad position open to them now if they can put a good spell of form together in the first half of the season they could make the final cut for the France squad.

But it was not is fault. He has very little apparence in the first half of the Season because of a contract issue. He decided to run his contract down but Barça wanted him to renew. They benched him to force there way but Xavi changed that when he came, and started playing him to show love and expect him to renew. He succeded apparently. I can't compare him to Son cause i'm talking about classic wingers

Well it was his fault his performances for 4 years were poor, he struggled to stay fit, he struggled to turn up to training on time which is why Barca were so keen to get rid of him because he was costing them a fortune in wages and not delivering the goods.

Xavi got him back in from memory due to injuries and Dembele for whatever reason came to life and had his best spell of form in a Barca shirt. Maybe because he finally got the belief of a manager or maybe because he realised he needed to start showing up because he needs a new contract either with Barca or someone else.

Dembele is staying because other teams didn't want him PSG managed to keep Mbappe and Chelsea went for Sterling they seemed to be the only clubs looking at him.

So who are we comparing him to then because very few players meet that description anymore of a classic winger who look to stay wide, beat the full back on the outside and get crosses in.

Compare him to Salah, Mane, Diaz, Sterling, Mahrez, Vinicius Jr, Neymar, Messi, Gnabry, Coman, i mean wide player. And for the second half of the Season, you will get no better in chances created. The amount he get is unbelievable, and he do it against any fullback all day every day.
I stand by my judgment that it wasn't his fault. During is contract with barca he had spell of good play followed by injuries. Every manager he had said the same about is talent. That he is unplayable when in form. Xavi trusted him and he delivred Big Time. I'm sure you will see the same Dembele for the first half of the New Season. He will get his spot back for France and play in the World cup if Deschamps is not too stuborn.

How is it possible ?
They just got Dembele resigned.
Maybe that mean De Jong is finaly coming

They can sign as many people as they want but until they sell De Jong they can't register them with La Liga as they are still over their budget for next season.

Once De Jong is sold they should be able to register Kessie, Christensen, Raphina and also re-register Dembele on his new contract.

Sounds like they're close to an agreement for Lewendowski as well I assume the De Jong deal also frees up enough room for them to do that deal as well.

Again, incredible
They keep signing New players for fun when we strugle to complete one transfer.
I Guess, CL spot appeal more than money.

Well we’ve signed two players, one on the brink and one a very likely possibility.

Plus we don’t know what else is going on behind the scenes. So think we need to cool our jets.

Despicable club, why UEFA and FIFA haven't stepped in is beyond me.

They are playing a very dangerous game with their finances.

They are selling out their future in the same way Leeds and Rangers did selling future income for short term cash.

Would love to see it blow up in their face

Because there are one of the old Big club.
The rules has been made to stop City and PSG, and they failed Big Time.

Not talking about FFP, UEFA/FIFA never had a chance controlling the clubs on spending in the long-term as the clubs with bottomless pits would always pay what was needed to solicitors to contest and successfully overturn any ruling.

Talking about the treatment of players, didn't Sepp Blatter come out and say we were treating CR7 as a slave at a time he was playing for the Champions League winners and being handsomely rewarded to do so, and the club Blatter was batting for(Real Madrid)were in a period where they didn't qualify the Champions League Q-F's once in 7 years.

Yet not a peep out of his replacement(Blatter's) on how Barcelona are treating de Jong and one or two others, I wonder why.

I don't know how they've managed to do what they've done without the majority of other clubs in La Liga agreeing to it.

Maybe days before the deadline they'll have a fire-sale of players they don't want/can't afford to keep with the Spanish clubs having first refusal, or first in line to sign the players Barca can't sell, on loan, providing they cover most of the wages.

La Liga have been pretty clear to them they have to sell they didn’t back down last summer and it cost the league Messi which could hurt everyone in terms of the TV deal values.

Doubt many clubs in Spain can afford their players wages. Loans are no good to them they need big transfer fees from sales that they can book on the accounts.

Blatter did that because he was a Real fan.
