Seems to be the current name doing the rounds online certainly fills a spot where Utd are weak a forward who seems to want to play from the right coming inside on to his favoured left foot. Utd are short of left footed attacking options currently so he'd provide some balance to that part of the squad.

22 years old full of tricks and skills but also has a bit of an edge to him which I quite like he'll need that to survive at Utd.

Fee reported to be around £40m.

Players coming from Holland have often struggled to get up to the speed of the premier league but he'll find a familiar face in ETH if he does end up joining.

Can’t say I’ve seen a hell of a lot of him but his skill set is similar to Nani I would say?

He does seem to have something about him and has broken into the Brazilian setup and scored a couple of goals.

I would say him and FDJ are the most likely to go through in the near future. The Timber links have gone a little quiet.

I've never actually watched him play just seen a few clips and read a few peoples views on him so he's a complete mystery to me.

Just based on that he ticks the boxes where I think our attack is weak which is a genuine left footer since Greenwood's suspension we've not had anyone who looks happy playing on the right, having a guy who's happy on that side would add a new angle to our attacks and give us a bit more balance.

Guess the last one of this type that came from Ajax was Ziyech who has struggled maybe a slightly different style of player but the step up will be big so hopefully he can handle it if he does come in.

Guess you can only take so much from short videos but he looks a baller with plenty of confidence.

Edge!? The guy is a fruitcake, albeit a supremely talented fruitcake.

He'll be popular with fans and Refs alike.

What does that mean? Report themselves at Ajax? I'm guessing it is suggesting United are ruling themselves out?

Guessing it's a translation issue.

Probably means they are going to meet with Ajax to try and negotiate a fee.

Questionable source… United are closing in on Antony in a £40m deal, according to Neil Custis of The Sun.

A few other better sources have mentioned Antony in passing. I think Custis wants to be the one who ‘broke’ the story if it does get over the line.

I'm interested to see how he does if he joins, I'm not overly excited, not sure he's going to go well in the prem. But another player who knows the syatem will be a bonus.

Can't say anything about his quality as never seen him play but he solves a problem position where we've really struggled since Greenwood's suspension. All the attackers are right footed so someone who is left footed and enjoys playing from the right is what we need but these type of inverted forwards need full backs that get past them to provide that width and overload.

Given how short we were in the attacking positions at the end of last season I'd be happy with his signing and lets be honest in the current climate £40m isn't a huge sum.

yeah, I'd be happy for the signing, But I imagine he'll have the same sort of effect as Sancho. I hope we (fans) don't put too much hope on him.

Joining a manager he knows I think it'll be easier but next season is going to be tough I think as we bed the new players in and obviously the existing players adapt to the new style.

Big thing that seemed to hit Sancho was he had that devastating moment missing the penalty in the euros, he had almost no pre season as he kept getting niggles, think he had covid twice and a close family member passed away. He never really looked fit hopefully this season we see the real Sancho as we got a brief glimpse last season.

At the moment every player is going to feel the pressure because the club is crying out for a saviour when really we have to focus on building a team not being reliant on one player as when that players form dips the whole thing can't collapse.

Much better source now reporting this so think this may have some legs.

I think they may well end up signing Antony. I think he fits the bill of what United need. But he will likely be the only Ajax addition.

Apart from the two former Ajax players in De Jong and Eriksen. Haha!

We don't want to be paying them prices for those players. So lets move on.

Think I said it on another thread if Dortmund are going to buy Haller from them having already sold Gravenbech to Bayern they probably aren't going to be selling others as you can't just flog the whole team.

He's got 3 years left on his contract so there's no pressure on them to sell and unless the players is going to kick up a stink to force the move we might have to move on to other targets.

I see Arsenal are reported to be bidding for Raphinha from Leeds it may well be Utd have to think about joining that race or casting the net even further afield as a right winger is essential for me.

I would say this one is probably 50/50. Ajax probably want too much but we have a good relationship with them, so maybe able to come to some sort of agreement.

Depends what they are willing to take as add ons and by add ons I mean are they willing to take Martial

He is just the best RW we can get. Raphinia will go for more and probably to a CL clubs, Dembele will not come even for the biggest contract. Give them the 40m and enjoy a position fixed for long time (he is just 22 yo). I have no doubt of his quality, he have pace to burn unlike Zyech. But if Ajax really want 70m, go for Raphinia instead. We don't have the money for De Jong and another 70m again.

Would rather rotate Amad and Pellistri on the right this season than pay stupid money for the lad however talented he is.

Anything over £50m upfront is just stupid, and the same goes for Raphael Dias Belloli.

But £40m plus maybe £25m in achievable add-ons I could go for, for either.

Though i'd prefer Antony of the two as he has a higher ceiling.

So at this point I'm not sure they are going to get this one done. Seems Ajax are going to play hard ball and I'm just not sure United will very anywhere near the valuation. Plus the De Jong deal is taking a lot of time and United have a lot of business they need to do. And I think if they do sign De Jong and Antony that would be the budget spent.

With the price quoted for Antony, i don't believe we will get him. 70m is too high. And 50m for Timber or Martinez is also too high. Look like Ajax will only allow 2 departure this season.

I doubt we'd end up paying anywhere near that for him if we did go in Ajax are just trying to scare people off.

I expect it would be a deal including quite a lot of money as add ons.

Could be Antony, Anthony Martial and Anthony Elanga as our front three. The triple A’s!

That’s a lot of power right there.
