Utd's other right back is next in line.

Personally I was surprised he was still at the club at the start of the season it was pretty clear to me that Ole never fancied him but he stayed this season after a pretty mediocre loan spell in Milan. Until Ole left his chances were really limited there was a champions league game vs Villareal early in the season where he was absolutely ripped to shreds by Danjuma in the first half.

League stats

23 appearences
0 goals
0 assists
0 Big chances created
80% pass completion

For an "attacking" full back he really is crap going forward his crossing is really poor for me it's possibly worse than Wan-Bissaka who at least sticks in the odd cross with a bit of speed on it. Dalot just clips in aimless balls.

He seems to have become more popular under Rangnick since he came in but he's another I don't see much of a future for as defensively he's also a major liability he switches off and allows attackers to nip in behind him to easily.

I was torn between a 3 and a 4. Dalot isn't good enough to be a top RB but we knew that anyway. I think he's probably played more this year than we all expected? And I think he's had some decent games and moments. But ultimately he's not good enough and he's absolutely got his flaws.

I've judged him by what I know he is he's our backup right back he's come in and done ok in some games and looked out of his depth in others.

All his performances have shown me is that he isn't up to anywhere near the standard to play in this league in that position. There isn't one thing about his game where you can say he's really good at that part of the game he's average to crap at pretty much everything you want from a full back.

If I was him I'd be focusing on making myself as fit as humanly possible because for him to make it in top leagues he's going to need to be a runner.

He's not great, but I do think he plays to the maximum of his ability, so I can't fault him on that. In a better he team he'd be ok as a bench player. I'd be keeping him for now.

I think for his own career he needs to move on drop down a few levels and play every week in an easier league to learn the basics.

He probably will stay next season and he'll need to pick this new system up quickly to last much longer than that.

He is too slow to be a BPL fullback. He must go to Italy for is own good. He is terrible in defense and not great in attack, but he try. I give him a 3 (just 1 point above AWB).

Been pretty average for the most part but gets a three for his ‘okay’ games.

He hasn’t really improved a hell of a lot, which I guess for the money we spent on an unknown, we would expect a marked improvement. If we do bring in a new right back I suspect AWB would be kept as a back up for now. So for me Dalot goes this summer.

I think that's the thing with a lot of players at the club in the last decade.

How many actually improve in their time at Utd?

I reckon AWB will go first as I can't see him fitting into the new system just isn't up to it from a physical or technical sense.

Apparently Crystal Palace is willing to take him back, but only if he accept a pay cut and Mourinho want Dalot in his team since the last summer. We will see.

My guess is they might ask for him back on loan next season which might be the best we can do with him unless Newcastle chuck some silly money at us for him but they have Trippier so don't really see them coming for another right back.

Mourinho will only want Dalot if he's doing his agent a favour the guy is nowhere near ready for the top leagues he needs to go back to Portugal and play every week in an easier league. A lot of the stories at the time where Dalot was not a player Mourinho wanted in the first place he wanted a right back in his prime to replace Valencia and was told the club wanted to sign Dalot due to his release clause situation at Porto.

1 of these two probably ends up staying because there's so much work to do elsewhere in that squad but the sooner those two are gone the better.

Dalot seems better suited to Italy. He's just not good enough for a top 6 (top 10?) side. I'd sell him, use an academy player as bench back up if needed, or go in for a January transfer if disaster strikes. He's not good enough as a back up option, certainly not good enough to start.

There's a player there, still waiting for him to replicate some of his performances from Porto where he played like a flying winger at times, funnily enough he looked better on the left, like a more pacy Denis Irwin.

Over to ten Hag.

Not sure anything can be gaged from his handful of performances for Porto to be honest. I don’t think there is much of a player in there to be honest - he doesn’t defend very well and his supposed attacking is not very good at all. Seems like when people are comparing Dalot and AWB, Dalot gets the edge because of his attacking and crossing but I would prefer AWB every day of the week in that respect.

It wasn't only for Porto though, i'd watched him being a star performer for Portugal u17 and u19 sides(in the same season) at the European Championship Finals scoring goals from fullback and then he took to senior football like a duck to water, obviously he wasn't tested much defensively, but going forward he looked unstoppable at times, on either flank. He was well worth a punt.

Lets give the lad a run in the side injury free, playing in a well coached settled side and playing with confidence before we decide he isn't much of a player. My fear is he'll be another one that's hounded out and that he'll go elsewhere and develop into the player many good judges thought he would as a 17-19 year old.

The fact he didn't make much of a splash at Milan kind of says to me that he hasn't got it I know they got him in as a squad player for the european matches but he didn't do much to catch the eye over there.

He's been pretty much injury free all season with us and he's looked hopeless his attacking threat is just slinging in terrible loopy crosses that keepers and centre backs eat up all day and defending wise he gets caught napping all the time. Obviously the team was a shambles this year but I just don't see it in him, his contract is up next summer so it's either time to back him with a new deal or move on.

He looks to me like a lad who made the move to young he needed that season or two in Porto to learn the ropes before moving on to Europe. Mourinho probably didn't want him he didn't need a kid to come in at that point he needed a player in his prime to take over from Valencia who was starting to struggle.

I think like some who've left it's the best thing for him go somewhere else and get a fresh start worked wonders for Smalling for example.

If he wants to survive one thing he needs to do over the summer is get himself super fit and just be one of those full backs with almost unlimited energy.

We've had this before, he still made 33 appearances for the biggest club in Italy, one of the biggest in Europe, granted only half as starter, but not bad for a backup player sent away to get his fitness levels up after a few niggly injuries and get valuable first-team minutes he wasn't going to get at United.

Most reports said he did okay, not bad for a kid who had come from the easiest League(Portugal) to play attacking fullback to the toughest.

Mourinho was telling the World and his brother that we'd signed the best young fullback in Europe so I think we can safely say he wanted him.

And on his crossing he just needs some consistency, he put numerous perfect crosses in when we had nobody in the box, but tended to over/under hit his crosses when we had numbers over in the box, that's more confidence than technique and can be worked on.

I guess I judged it by Milan didn't try to keep him as to how well he did and I reckon last summer Utd would have let him go pretty cheap as Ole clearly didn't fancy him. It felt like he stayed because no one was really interested in him which isn't a good sign.

Always got to remember when Mourinho talks about Dalot who their agent is as both are represented by Mendes. I hear what you are saying when we signed him he was hot property of his generation in Portugal he was seen as an almost sure thing to make it to the very top. That was 2018 though it's 4 years later and I just don't see any real progress.

Feels to me with him like there's still a very long way to go maybe the penny will drop and all of a sudden we'll see that young kid that was full of potential but I just think having not seen any real glimpse of it in 4 seasons that is hope more than expectation.

He's just turned 23 to me if he was going to become a top player by now I'd like to have seen a lot more impressive games he basically had a 6 month free run at nailing down the right back spot here and he didn't take it. To often he was being caught out by the opponent and letting players get free he seems to have that Luke Shaw day dreaming thing rather than being constantly focused if you switch off at this level even for a second you are in big trouble.

To me he's another Andreas Periera lots of hype but just not up to it and he's afraid to leave the big stage as he knows the only way is down for him.

Seriously, the kid has played for Porto, Manchester United and AC Milan, and is a full International for Portugal by the age of 22 i'm sure there would be plenty of interest as long as we didn't price him out of a move.

Wouldn't pay too much attention to how anybody performed in the last 5/6 months, certainly not somebody like Dalot struggling to make an impression, as half the team didn't want to/couldn't follow instruction.

Like I said I'm sure we were open to offers we paid £20m we probably knew that wasn't going to be recovered and he's reported to be on around £5m a year wages so that would be another stumbling block for him to get a move. I'd be guessing but had someone offered us £10m with a few bonuses built in I think we'd have bitten their hand off for the deal.

Can you honestly say if you were watching him play for another team regularly you'd be saying Utd should look at signing him? There's just nothing to me that stands out about him at any point over the 4 seasons he's been with us. When he joined he struggled to stay fit then when he has played to me he's looked a very average player.

He's just not played enough football in his first 5 years as first team player he's managed just over 100 appearances in club football. I think he made the jump to quickly he moved to Utd way before he was ready and really part of that deal that took him to Utd should have seen him going straight out on loan as he wasn't ready for that level yet. I'd love to be proven wrong but I just don't see a future for him here.

The club just can't win, why didn't we take a put on him(that's any young player with high potential) when he was 18/19 like other clubs with a structure/future planning do and not wait till they've made it and then get fleeced came the cry from the idiot unaware how absurd their comment was. Some you win, some you lose.

If he played for say Everton, Werder Bremen or Hellas Verona exactly like he has during his time at United obviously not, 100%, but i'd hazard a guess he'd have performed a damn sight better at those clubs without the scrutiny/expectations of players at Manchester United.

Hindsight he should have been loaned back to Porto for 12/18 months.

It's been pretty clear that development of young players has been a massive problem at this club for a long time now lads are signing for Utd and not improving. It's been a very difficult place to develop as a young player for a decade now due to the instability at the club.

At the time we didn't need a kid we needed a ready made replacement as we knew Valencia was only good for one more year as a backup there wasn't time to train up Dalot even if we could see the potential we should have passed on him let him develop elsewhere then go back later if he's kicked on.

He's a kid I don't expect him to be fantastic every week but I expect to see a few glimpses that there's a top player in there sadly in 4 years I haven't seen anything from Dalot to suggest he's got another level to go to.

That's one of the more pointier sticks some United fans use to beat United with, but isn't that a League problem, you could probably count on the fingers of one hand how many successful punts ourselves, City, Liverpool and Chelsea have made on 18/20 year olds in the last decade or so, but listen to some of our fans and it's only us that doesn't develop them properly.

Yeah and that goes back to my why didn't we sign him earlier comment, the club just can't win.

If you don't want to see the glimpses you're not gonna see 'em.

We've been pretty good at developing our own but we've not been good at developing the guys who sign for us. The environment for me hasn't been right for these guys to come into and perform every player comes as the saviour which brings with it huge pressure and expectation there isn't a solid group that help you settle in. It also creates a challenge for you to even get on the pitch when there's a settled side there as you need to be a bit special to just get a chance you aren't being given it because the first team guys aren't performing.

Trust me I do want to see them I watch the games wanting everyone to play well but I just can't see anything with that guy that makes me think he's going to suddenly click and become a top player even a steady player.

Not sure why i'm defending him so vigorously to be honest, was made up when we signing he after watching him at the u17 and u19 European Championships where he looked like a potential superstar, and he had the physique already which should have helped him settle quicker around the first-team at Old Trafford, but it hasn't work out for him, not yet anyway.

And maybe i'm the only person on the planet that rates AWB, but if I was the Manager i'd start AWB at right-back, and maybe give Dalot a run out at left-back.

AWB i thought was making progress in the last 2 seasons but this season he’s had a disaster and from the reporting the new boss seems to want to move on.

Think both AWB and Dalot are on borrowed time

The club might want to move him on, but that will be more to do with his two drink-driving offences in a short space of time than anything football related, and ten Hag wouldn't want to move anybody in contract on till he's seen then for 2 weeks in pre-season first even if Rangnick had left a sticky note on his desk saying "get rid of AWB because he's shite. ps. Good luck as you'll need it"
