Lingard to Leave?

Jesse has a habit of this. Wasn't long ago he was posting himself in a West Ham shirt. 'through and through' though.

Was he trying to prove that he deserved some kind of send off with that photo? Guess we don’t know his intentions by posting it.

I don’t really read into anything I see or read on social media. It could mean a plethora of things. Social media on the whole is toxic and is one of the worst things ever invented (although obviously is good to a degree).

It's not a social club, play Jesse cos he's leaving ffs
Should try more, should stop mouthing off to ex players and if he really "loved" United, sign a deal so we can either get some money or he can try and play as well as he did for west ham and he might get a game.

Jog on pal, I used to like you, I used to like a lot of this squad, this season has burnt that.

The thing is that photo could have multiple meanings and that is why he's done it.

Again, that is purely just speculating. That’s the problem with social media - he is getting crucified and being called poisonous and whatever.

Just posting a photo with no text is like when people write something like, "just had really bad news" on FB without any explanation.

It was a pointless photo to upload, and following his brothers tweet it doesn't take much to put 2 + 2

Who cares, I've got a photo from the 70's of me in a united top. No one cares. Just go. You didnt get any minutes because you're not good enough. We're not here to make Lingard happy so he can upload a picture of himself waving goodbye to OT. We are football team that is meant to win games, and we did. Job done.

He is causing that though by just posting a photo with no context what is that photo meant to represent?

If he wanted to say something then say something he has the platform to do that but he didn't he posted something that he knew people would speculate over.

Why on earth would Ten Hag want to keep him. I mean if that's true then United are well and truly done as a legit force. If Ten Hag isn't going to come in and stamp his authority and get rid of players who simply aren't good enough then wow.

Keeping him makes sense if the club is selling VDB.

If VDB is staying and we know Bruno is staying then keeping Lingard makes no sense.

I keep VDB. He is younger and know what ETH want. We should have accepted the offer from West Ham. Atleast we would have a couple of millions in the bag, for the rebuild.

I think after 20 years at the club he could have been allowed a send-off. We didn't need to bring on Cavani, for instance. I agree he's not good enough and it's time for him to go, but I think he was mislead and mistreated by Ole. He should have been allowed to leave when he would have been playing, but to keep him and then not play him is almost spiteful.

My thing with VDB is he just hasn't shown anything in a Utd shirt or Everton shirt that makes me think he's good enough for this league. Opportunities are limited so hard to judge but to me he feels like a player who's talents will shine in a league that isn't quite as quick as this one.

Two sides to every story when it comes to West Ham who never actually made an offer.

1) side the Lingard side says Ole told him he's be given opportunities if he wanted to stay.

2) the club side was Lingard told the club he wanted to stay and fight for his future and wasn't interested in a transfer.

I do think Lingard genuinely loves the club but he's a great example of the lack of leadership at the club in the last decade someone needed to sit him down for the difficult chat and say time is up it's best for your career if you move on.

he should know better, and it happens way too much at united,

I have no problem with Ralf benching him and Bailly for it
Agreed. We needed to show a zero tolerance approach to any chat about the club to an external party, even if they are an ex-player. If Lingard hadn't opened his mouth Scholes would have nothing to say.

Ralfs gone on a rant about him after his brothers comments. Said Jesse Lingard was inline to start against Chelsea and asked to be withdrawn from the squad.

Surprised it took him so long to have a rant to be honest. Obviously he has maintained a level of professionalism but he could have laid into these players at any stage.

Like Gary Neville said in a tweet, better players than Lingard haven’t had the perfect send off. He wanted to leave the club as well, so basically just suck it up and move on.

I wouldn’t call it a rant he was pretty controlled with what he said and it’s good to hear a manager giving us the reasons why certain things happened. He did say Lingard asked to withdraw for family reasons from the game and the following days training session we have to assume it was something very important for him to do that.

Rangnick is right to tell his side of the story but I do think in this one he is wrong Lingard for me deserved the goodbye moment way more than Cavani did. Cavani can have his moments in the away games as he’s massively taken the p*ss this season with his injuries and requests for extended breaks from international weeks.

Unless there is something we still don’t know about why he asked to miss that game I think he should have been given either the start or a sub appearance.

That said his reaction through his brother and his own post shows you why he needs to go.

I think he did deserve it more than cavani but in truth I would rather have seen garnacho or Fernandez given some game time, given that we were three up and they are going to be here next season

It's a real shame the way things went with this guy as back in 2018 it really looked like he was developing into a good player had a great season with Utd and carried it into the world cup that summer helping England to the semi final.

Since then it's been a disaster he should have been sold last summer no doubt about that.

He won't be missed on the pitch but I hope he does well at his next club.

@jsp he looked a real good player at West Ham. Amazing how many players who look good elsewhere have looked awful at United over the recent years

Some players just fit into a system and get a bit of momentum going confidence is a huge difference maker to top level players. The atmosphere and playing style there seemed to suit him perfectly which makes the decision to come back and stay at Utd 1 more year even more baffling. We have seen it with him when he gets on a hot streak he can be devastating as as a player but at Utd you can’t afford the big dips you need to be consistent.

His biggest issue at Utd was Bruno even in a season where he hasn’t been great he was always going to be picked ahead of Lingard. We know Lingard isn’t a wide player he’s a number 10 he needs to be central ideally playing off a proper number 9 which he had at West Ham in Antonio.

There‘s a mixed bag to be honest few left Utd and looked great at another premier league club some drop down to a weaker league and get their careers back on track but the PL is a very high standard.

With him I will try to remember the good times scored goals in cup finals and big matches for us and he genuinely loved the club but it’s time to part ways and to be honest this decision is probably 2 years overdue.

Somebody is gonna get a very talented footballer on the cheap, and I wish him well wherever he goes.

Sounds like he's going to Nottingham Forest over West Ham.

Apparently he's been asking for £180k a week which is mad.

Think he's quite keen to stay based in the north west for family reasons so Nottingham is maybe easier for him to get to and from.

Could spin it the other way and say nailed on starter with Forest.

Did see him linked to Everton but he's best to stay well clear of that mess for now.

Doesn't seem to me like football has his full focus anymore and hasn't for a long time.

Ravel Morrison, the most talented kid i've ever seen in the Academy follows Wazza to DC United on a one year contract.

Derail over.

He definitely thinks he’s better than he is.

1 year contract with a 1 year option

Could be a smart move if his ambition is go to the world cup he needs to play as much as possible in the first half of the season.
